I just shook my head while thinking, that’s really a cool subject considering most of what I know about Pacific Islanders I gleaned from devouring James Michener’s various novels.

At the moment, Gov DeathSantis isn’t quite as popular as he was. At least not here in Florida.
People’s home insurance is going through the roof, no pun intended. Home insurers are pulling out of Florida left and right. Fortunately, my insurance hasn’t been affected yet. It’s still at $1800 a year but I’m waiting for the bite in the butt because my insurer intends on closing up shop and leaving also. A lot of people’s homeowners’ is going up $3-4,000 a year over what it had been in 2022. Some are packing up and moving and the elderly on fixed incomes are suffering with many of those who are still able going back to work to pay their increases.
If this is happening in Florida because of hurricanes – and DeathSantis wining, dining and bedding homebuilders – I can only imagine what’s happening out West as whole neighborhoods are going up in flames year after year. Ultimately, it’s a consequence of global warming and corporate greed.
To take the heat off himself though, he’s investigating the cruelty that was foisted upon Floridians because of vaccinations and mask wearing. Red meat for the red menace.

I once answered a poster on our neighborhood website that actually, most of the drugs in the US come in through the ports and across legal entry points, not smuggled across the border on mules, and that the murder rates are highest in Red States. not Blue big cities. Home insurers are leaving Florida in droves and people are furious. Too many claims, many fraudulent and too many natural disasters. Our insurer has sent us a letter they will be dropping us, but we haven’t started shopping around yet for quotes. Some people I’ve talked to have gotten quotes that are outrageously expensive. I think it’s time to pack up and go back to NJ. For as much money as others have been quoted, we may as well pay high NJ property taxes.
