Ironically this firefighter, who Kelly felt should not be collecting disability, will now collect millions for the unnecessary slander committed against him. They even admitted on air that the guy asked for any job in the fire department! But they vilified him anyway. What makes Fox think it can go after private citizens this way? Kelly was correct, something doesn’t smell right here, and its the odor of self-righteous Kelly in the afternoon.

According to right wingers, no one ever deserves a second chance. No matter that she served her 22 years in prison and is apparently now a productive member of society. This is the mentality of our legal system as filtered through 40 years of right wing justice: Criminals should serve 4 times the sentence, then crawl in a hole and disappear. This excessively punitive culture is the reason why we are seeing domestic terrorism via white supremacists recently released from prison. These are the not-so-reformed products of our legal system.

I’m with you Aria. Hoping for something better after a long slog through this life! People from all cultures have had near death experiences. Some have experiences that mesh with their faith, whether Hindu, Jewish, Buddhist, Christian or Muslim. But most of these experiences don’t have a traditional religious theme, but they do have many similarities, the tunnel, the bright light, feelings of love and acceptance. Whether its a real experience, or a natural result of brain death, it sounds like a good way to end things.

I remember seeing a group of Japanese tourists visiting Pearl Harbor – specifically the ship on which the Japanese signed surrender documents at the end of the war. I was impressed that they would choose to visit the site of their country’s humiliation. This petty tantrum of Fox bots is embarrassing in comparison to those mature humble tourists from Japan. There is something basically wrong with these Fox people. They do not represent the best of the USA, but the absolute childish, selfish worst.

If Fox were an organized group rather than an entertainment network, I’m sure it would rank as a hate-group too. So no surprise that they defend other haters. The problem with right wing media and other hate groups is not that they arm people and send them out to do damage, but they give simple cover to the racists, zenophobes, christianists and others who might do harm. The Sequester is a Tea Party wet dream for which they refuse to take any responsibility.

First we hear that these cuts will be insignificant. Next if they do hurt anyone then its the Dems fault for insisting on increasing tax revenues. Finally the cuts being made by the president are designed to harm.

The Republicans misleadingly imply that the cuts will affect the entire budget by only 2.5% across the board, rather than noting that only discretionary spending is affected and this means 10% cuts to some programs.

Republicans ignore the reality that voters are overwhelmingly in support of tax increases, or in this case closing tax loopholes. But Repub’s play the blame game (not THOSE cuts!) instead being the people’s representatives, yet again.

This was such a silly topic, I guess it was better than having Neil sit and stare mutely into the camera for 7 minutes. And it wasn’t even covered well. Was the message that was sent to Carson also sent to all attendees? Probably, but then that would remove the element of ‘threat’ from the whole thing.

We have a fence in my border city. The fence was very expensive. And in many places it was just not practical to build it. So there are gaps. It is a tall, thin and smooth fence with a grating that you can almost see through, but people can climb it if given enough time. So we still have border agents spaced along the border anyway.

As a border resident I note that 50% of undocumented persons enter the US by airplane, and fail to leave when their VISA expires. When the rest of the US deals with THAT problem, then come back to the border and ask us about putting up more ugly fence.

I have a relative with the same temperament as O’Reilly. That meltdown was real anger. You can’t live every day with so much hate without it spilling out at inconvenient times. O’Reilly is getting older, and I bet this will start happening more and more.

The fact that Bill is a high functioning person does not diminish in any way the fact that he has serious mental health issues. I’m sure if a drug company was actually named, then he would demand the names of all the drugs to be negotiated, the name of the executive in charge of negotiations, the date negotiations will begin, etc. We all see this as B.S. why can’t Bill see it? I feel for his family and friends.

It was a little over 4 years ago that my local newspaper’s editor also compared Obama to Chavez (in his editorial endorsement of McCain for President). Yet in the last election the endorsement went to Obama (with no mention of Chavez). REALITY does have an effect. People noticed the reality that Obama is actually nothing like Chavez And capitalism is alive and thriving in the USA. Fox has lost a lot of influence over the years as they make outrageous comparisons and predictions that just don’t come true. Each day the echo chamber grows smaller and their influence dims.

The WWE is an apt comparison, Jeff, but in watching Fox I often have flashbacks to the Seinfeld show. Not just for the vaccuousness of the characters but because this is a series of shows about nothing. They take a tiny detail or slip of an idea and chew it to death for 20 or 30 minutes in order to fill the space. What little substance there is can only be described as NOT ACCURATE in the real world. And what Bill lacks in intellect, he tries to make up for in sheer emotion. What an embarrassing spectacle. Bill was so clearly proved wrong and he behaved like a child.

Was it revenge week at Fox? First Hannity spends a ridiculous three segments going after a guest who spanked his bottom, now this O’Reilly revenge story on Jerry Brown. Its amazing that people will sit and watch shows which spend so much of their airtime attacking those who don’t kiss up to the host. Its pathetic that these thin-skinned egomaniacs try to shore up their egos each week with BS stories such as this.

I’ve heard business people say that ‘serving the country’ includes things like running a successful business that employs people. That merely having employees is some kind of grand gift to the country. But it isn’t.

Having a company that contributes to its local community and pays people enough to live well and also contribute to the economy is a service to the country, but it is mainly a service to oneself. No company can run without employees. And it pays to treat them well.

The thing is I don’t think the Romneys’ even did this much ‘service’ after ’08.
