If the media had spent as much time browbeating the Bush administration over the horrific mistakes which led to the original 9/11, or even how poorly the Iraq war was managed, I don’t even think Bush would have been forced from his first term-but probably wouldn’t have had a second term.

Fox will always keep its nutty viewers, but the time for normal folks to listen to the drivel has passed.

With the news that African Americans showed up to vote in November in higher percentages than whites, the Republicans really don’t need Bill pimping his racist b.s. but the Dem’s thank Bill for his contributions to their party’s electoral wins.

Maybe they should invite Roger Ailes on to explain why his employees aren’t free to pepper their commentary with racial, ethnic and gender slurs? Because he is the only one who could stop them. Despite their moaning about freedom of speech, these people are censoring themselves in order to keep their jobs. And that has nothing at all to do with freedom of speech.

What kind of freak thinks its ok to use a drone to kill someone apparently committing a crime, but not to spy on someone apparently committing a crime?

Yes, I remember well when President Obama gave a televised speech to school children, the right got a case of the heaving vapors fearing that children would be exposed to liberal indoctrination and permissions slips were required. It seems to be the new standard.

I do wonder how Muslim and Chinese-Americans and visiting students feel when they hear such bigoted statements as Beckel’s. Do they feel demonized, stereotyped and scapegoated? This kind of zenophobia may be the kind of thing that got the Tsarnaev brothers started on their anti-American ideas in the first place. Its a shame that we broadcast this kind of stupid commentary all across our country and in many parts of the world, for all to see.

Bob Wilhelmi: Should books simply tell students what they should believe about controversial topics and avoid all discussion? These children will ultimately form their own opinions using their own sense of right and wrong and social influences. The neutrality of a book is unlikely to convince them of anything. How sad if schools should stop teaching kids to think about things just because they are controversial.

I hope this guy doesn’t also pretend to be a good Christian as well as a normal human being. He isn’t either, but would like everyone else to embrace the kind of knee-jerk animal-like reaction to life that he praises.

You’d think people who don’t like their ‘productivity’ being taxed-would instead opt for the VAT tax wherein people are only taxed for what they buy, not what they earn. Of course this wouldn’t shift the tax burden onto the poor (which is their real goal). And then the whiners would lose one of their best talking points if they couldn’t moan about the ‘unproductive’ people who don’t pay (income)taxes.

These are the folks who dream of returning to the 1950s, that time when children WERE constantly under the supervision of almost every adult in their community, and people did not shrink from identifying as a community member.

Yet a similar idea becomes a shocking outrage from a 21st century vantage point. If they really can’t stomach a sense of community toward their fellow citizens nor children, then what could they truly want? They seem to want the benefits of an earlier, simpler time, without the diminished personal freedom that came with it. I wish these folks could look in a mirror and see a bit of reality shining back at them.

So Fox is against the Episcopal Church now. They are certainly taking sides with the anti-gay Christians by giving them a voice, and not having any Episcopalians to debate Perkins. tsk tsk. I feel for the Christians who would like other Christians to stop promoting hate in the name of Jesus. Evangelicals like Perkins not only applaud the “kill the gays” bills in Uganda. They are responsible for a lot of attacks on gays around the world. Their brand of Christianity brings death and destruction not just for their ‘enemies’, but for other Christians who fall for their false preaching. I have first-hand knowledge that ‘Kill the Gays’ Christianity is now being preached in the US by immigrant African Christians.

These Fox Catholics obviously don’t understand how things work in non-Catholic churches. In most cases, if protestant congregants don’t like the pastor they just get rid of him/her and get a new one. It is quite common and routine. On the other hand in Catholic churches the people have little say over who their pastor is.

Any clergy working at a university ought to be more sensitive to their ‘audience’ and its sensibilities. Anti-gay doesn’t work for most young people. And as far as they are concerned it is their right to have an opionion on the pastors serving their community.

I know this will fall on deaf ears, but "Bill, inform yourself! Get out of your bubble. Go out into the world and learn things about other people. Don’t assume that you already know it all. "

Bill is wrong about the superiority of the 1950s. Things have really gone downhill for us since the industrial revolution. Oh sure that era saw an increase in overall income and population growth, but frankly prior to the Industrial Revolution most people were farmers. People who grow their own food are so much more self-reliant and hard working than 1950s types with their fancy automobiles and clothes washing machines. And talk about respectful! People with only a 3rd grade education had a holy reverence for public institutions and the educated people who worked in such places. The people of the 1810s just had their act together didn’t they?
