Bill O’Reilly took race baiting to a whole new level last night. He very deliberately and shamelessly blamed minorities for violence – as if it were something peculiar to their natures and missing from whites – while feigning to be interested in an explanation. “It’s not about gun control, it’s about race,” O’Reilly said. The implication was that “race control” is what’s needed to solve problems of violence.
O’Reilly said:
Last year, 506 people were murdered in Chicago by gun fire, most of them, up 16% from 2011. 75% of those people were black 19% Hispanic, just 4 and a half percent white. According to the Chicago police department, nearly 71% of the murder offenders, the perpetrators, are black, 24% Hispanic. Just 3 and a half percent white. So if you look at the stats, it’s not about gun control, it’s about race.
Guest John Stossel was something of a voice of reason. He argued that it’s not about race but about drugs. “You’re wrong to focus on race,” Stossel said. If drugs were legalized, he argued, the violence would stop.
But O’Reilly was intent on making out minorities as villains. “As soon as we legalize drugs in America, they’d just get jobs at McDonald’s,” O’Reilly sarcastically sneered. “They’d just become regular insurance salesmen. …Of course not.”
He got back to race: “Do you have an explanation, in Chicago, of why almost all of the guns murders are committed by blacks and Hispanics? Is there an explanation?”
If O’Reilly was really interested in an explanation, he would have interviewed a sociologists or criminal justice expert instead of asking Fox Business host Stossel – a guy with no qualifications to give O’Reilly the answer he was supposedly seeking.
Stossel argued that Monica Crowley was correct in a previous segment, to call it “the wreckage of liberalism” (even though she was talking about welfare, not gun violence.)
O’Reilly suddenly backtracked a bit:
We’re generalizing here because overwhelmingly, African Americans and Hispanics in Chicago and everywhere else are law-abiding citizens.
Now, he tells us!
Stossel added, “Most people on welfare are white.”
But then O’Reilly went straight for the racial attacks again.
However, the violent crime … everywhere is driven by the minority precincts. So therefore, it is not a gun control issue, it is – as I come back to the original statement – a race issue.
So what, exactly, is O’Reilly suggesting be done? Or is it just the race baiting he cares about?
There’s a “genocide” against the white race? Who knew??
“Anti-racist is a code word for anti-White.”
No, Joe Blow Hard — it’s a code for “anti-idiot”.
And, the next time you copy and past from NorthWestFront, at least have the decency to cite your source.
