People who would never pick up a copy of the National Enquirer happily turn to Fox “News” each day to get the political equivalent of celebrity gossip armageddon stories. That these viewers don’t even realize that they are consuming, at best, mental junk food is disturbing. If left unanswered this mental junk food infiltrates our society.

Newshounds prepares me for the suprising ‘information’ that friends and relatives talk about. Because they speak in a sort of short-hand that assumes everyone in the US agrees on some point of far-right opinion, it really helps me to get some reference points for the things they say, which otherwise might be incomprehensible.

Poor Hannity had to dig deep to come up with a conspiracy-like idea to try and cover for the pathetic showing the Republicans made interviewing Clinton. After all those hours of testimony, the Republicans didn’t give Hannity much to work with. Clinton was impressive, while they were petty. She was cool and appropriately annoyed, while they were often emotional and focused on politicizing the attack.

I don’t remember ‘voluntarily’ being part of the plan. Who would choose to pay more and get less from a private company for their Medicare?

Privatization of a popular plan such as Social Security is incredibly radical in that the vast majority of citizens like their SS just fine. However there are lots of investors who would love to get their hands on all that Social Security money. They could make a lot of money for themselves, and as they’ve proved in the recent past, the consumer could pay for the losses. Then the right wing would tell those who lost their money that they should have been more careful about their investments.

Gary Rusay. I have listened to Levin. Unfortunately he devolves into a shouting rant every 5 to 7 minutes, at which point I must change the station as his rants are repellent to the ear. Someone with a good message wouldn’t need to shout. We should not dismiss the whackos entirely. Perhaps he feels he has been silenced by the laws of the country that don’t permit him to make direct threats to individuals or the goverment, or the laws that prevent him from taking over any of the major news networks that don’t promote his agenda. So who hates America more? Al Jazeera or Fox?
Who spends the majority of its broadcast day criticizing the leadership of the USA for every single thing it does foreign and domestic? Which network kills stories that are unfavorable to its political perspective? Who makes disparraging remarks about most American (voters being lazy welfare recipients)? Who feels that the majority of Americans aren’t respectful of the chosen religion (of the news channel’s owners)? It certainly sounds like Fox has a lot in common with Al Jazeera…and that’s more than creepy, as some would say, its downright unAmerican.
