In the earliest JEWISH traditions (you know—the folks who ORIGINALLY wrote down the stuff that became the “Old Testament” part of the Bible), Noah and his family WERE vegetarians. You know why? The “two of every animal” story that everyone knows by heart.

Well, guess what, schmuck? That is the FIRST version of the story. During the Babylonian Captivity (a period when the Jews were being threatened with assimilation into Babylonian society and losing their own traditions), the rabbis took it ON THEMSELVES to make a “little change” to the Noah story.

See, in the Book of Leviticus (and repeated in Deuteronomy), "God"dictates that ALL animals will be divided into “clean” and “unclean” animals. The “clean” animals were permitted to be eaten by the “Chosen People” while the “unclean” were not—even to the point of not even being allowed to be touched (that was deemed to be an “abomination”).

Now, in Genesis 6, God tells Noah to gather TWO animals, male and female: 19. And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.

20. Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.
21. And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.
22. Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

In Genesis 7—immediately after the verses I posted above—comes this proclamation:

1. And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
2. Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
3. Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.

Now, prior to Genesis 7, there is NO MENTION AT ALL of “clean” or “unclean” animals. The terms do not reappear until Leviticus, a book of laws which only appeared following the Exodus (an event which, according to standard Biblical chronology, didn’t happen for at least 500 years and as much as 1000 years after the flood but did happen some 500-1000 years before the Babylonian Captivity).

So, do you think the FoxNoise folkkks are going to recognize the hypocrisy of Hobby Lobby’s stance on the birth control pill via insurance program when the company imports most of its products from China—a country known for its “one-child-per-family” policy, enforced by the government (forced sterilization—oddly only of the women, but not the men; sex-selective abortion; abduction of excessive children from their families)?

Yeah. It’s great that HL thinks that the “corporation’s” freedom of religion trumps that of the company’s workers. I have to wonder what the Founding Fathers would think if they learned the individual freedoms they sought so hard to protect were being applied to companies? The Constitution opens with “We, the People.” The Declaration of Independence declares “All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.” Somehow, I don’t see where they intended to consider “corporations” to be the equal of “people” or “men.”

So, I guees that means that Geraldo thinks the converse is true: “Crooked Republicans Tend to Be White Politicians.”

So by O’Reilly’s theory, it means that maximum 27% approval that Dubya got during his last two years in office wasn’t just “ideologues” as everyone thought, after all. I just wonder how much of that approval was from “ideologues” and how much was from the “blatantly ignorant and lazy?”

And, Billdo proves just how little he listens to his own voice while bloviating; otherwise, he would never have made this statement: “We get our information from other people who may be as dumb as we are.” Yes, Bill, you said it yourself: Your viewers get their information from someone as dumb as they are.

Leon, maybe the reason no charges were filed was because Billdo agreed to settle out-of-court. Billdo was facing potential sexual harassment charges and knew what would happen to his reputation if he let it go to court (where he’d have to testify if he wanted to stand a chance of being found “not guilty”).

And, let’s remember that, according to the right-wing sense of legal theory, “settling out of court” = “guilty” (which is one reason Billdo never mentions his little “indiscretion”).

So, the big problem is the “miscarried and aborted fetuses” were burned with trash? Are these people aware of what happens when a body is cremated? And, sorry, I’m really not seeing the “crime” here. What’s done with diseased body parts after the surgery? I’m not a doctor and don’t work in a hospital, but what do they do with the jaundiced liver from someone who got a liver transplant? When someone has a cancerous tumor removed (not talking about the piece taken for biopsy purposes but the actual mass that’s been determined to be cancerous), what happens to the mass? What freaking difference does it make whether the discards are burned with the used tongue depressors and used surgical gauze or burned separately? And if the discarded body parts are burned with the regular trash, what’s the big deal about aborted fetuses? I can’t imagine any woman who’s just gone through an abortion is going to have any feelings one way or the other about HOW the remains are disposed of.

Now, of course, it’s a completely different thing when we hear or read about a baby that’s been born and then left in a dumpster or trash bin but there’s a BIG difference in the two scenarios.

I’m sorry, Bill, but exactly WHAT do you believe Rep Lee should apologize to Paul Ryan for? SHE isn’t the one who blithely attacked people of a different racial/ethnic background as being “lazy.” And regardless of what Ryan deems to be “his” apology, it still points out the fact that he’s a US Senator and should have his comments BETTER thought out before he opens his f@cking mouth. And considering how Ryan got through college (in no small part through his “taker” status—remember, a good chunk of his college tuition was paid for by his late father’s Social Security benefits), he’s really in no position to be calling out anyone over government “handouts.”

Aria: The FoxNoise universe.

Mr Greenwood needs to realize that the Mesopotamian flood myth was actually written down more than a full millennium before the first Hebrew scribbling passed along the Noah myth. (And the earliest versions of the Epic of Gilgamesh—which also had a Noah-like flood story—were written between 4000 and 4500 years ago.

THAT is why all your bullcrap about the “Noahide laws” are still the “basis for law on earth” is the “basis.” Those “laws” PREDATE Noah. For the record, the “laws” against idolatry and blasphemy violate the basic human rights of freedom of religion and freedom of speech and the press (and most civilized countries don’t have laws against idolatry or blasphemy—only backwards thinking theocratic regimes, like Iran and Taliban-era Afghanistan do).

But it should be obvious (to everyone but the truly religious-blinded morons) that the Noah story is NOT real. The “Mountains of Ararat” (where the Ark allegedly came to rest) are NOT the highest mountains in the world (there are, in fact, mountains even higher just a couple hundreds miles to the northeast; we know them today as the Caucauses). Why didn’t the Ark come to rest on Mt Everest or K2 or any of the Himalayas (which, along with their neighboring ranges, the Tian Shan, the Karakorum and the Hindu Kush account for like 93 of the 100 highest mountains)? Mt Ararat (the most famous of the “mountains of Ararat”) rates in the 240s among the world’s highest mountains.

And, of course, that doesn’t even account for the difficulty in explaining how koalas and raccoons were UNKNOWN to the ancient Hebrews. In fact, these species were UNKNOWN to anyone outside of Australia and North America until the “Age of Exploration” began in the 1490s. Or did these species just spontaneously come into existence AFTER the Flood?

You’re welcome to believe whatever insane hogwash you wish to but that doesn’t mean it’s real or ever happened. And the Noah flood and ark are nothing more than a myth. Consider also the fact that God supposedly—according to the Bible—destroyed the world because it became evil and He wanted to basically “reset” to factory specs. BUT, if he’d destroyed all the evil and ONLY had Noah and his family left to start over with, why did evil and sin continue? I mean, why would the Ten Commandments have a bunch of “shall not”s if the flood had done its job? Why did God feel a need to “inspire” men to write about how certain acts were “abominations” if He’d rid the world of all that evil and sin with the flood? Something does not compute, Jacob.

It’d be nice if someone asked Grenell how he felt about Dubya’s decision to call off the search for bin Laden? Maybe he needs a reminder about bin Laden’s role in an actual terrorist attack against the US (since he seems so concerned about the Malaysian plane’s becoming a part of a “terrorist plot”) Maybe Grenell might offer his opinion on how Dubya (who needed a nearly TWO-MONTH vacation after barely six months on the job) handled the whole 9/11 deal—considering he ignored a PDB that actually warned of a likely terrorist attack sometime in September. Of course, none of that matters. Dubya was a GOP President. And white. So his “sins” were/are ignored.

Of course, it really won’t matter since the GOP/Teabagger coalition running so many state governments (especially with large Latino populations—Texas, Florida, Arizona) are doing their best to ensure that none of these DREAMers will be able to vote, even if they do acquire full citizenship. Between state legislators passing laws to “thwart voter fraud” and Secretaries of State who actually set the ground rules for state elections, there’s little chance of these “brown” DREAMers seeing a polling place and casting a ballot.

As for Angelina, you really don’t want her on your show. She’d show you for the steaming pile of doggy-doo you really are. I have a feeling we’d see a new record set for how quickly a guest’s microphone was shut off and BillO “going to commercial.” Angelina is NOT shy about speaking her mind when she needs to.

Greg, Chicago’s not alone. The fact is that none of the parades has been called a “gay pride parade” in at least a decade. Even the Advocate (the leading gay news site) hasn’t used “gay pride” in the coverage or names of any Pride events in many, many years. And largely for the reasons you mention. (There is the added controversy over the use of “gay” among many in the LGBT community—that a “gay pride” parade would marginalize the lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered folk, as well as those who are “questioning” or intersex because “gay” has come to mean gay men.)

But yeah. Straights have long been welcomed in the Pride events and they’ve participated whether as gay-supportive parents or siblings (other relatives too, but these are usually the ones most deeply connected to LGBT individuals) or friends or co-workers or even gay-supportive strangers. The other thing about Pride is that there’s not usually as formal a structure system as other “theme” parades—people don’t have to march under a “banner.” There are groups and organizations that march under a banner but people can typically just make plans to march, show up and march (some of the parades may require some sort of registration process but people are rarely turned away).

O’Reilly snorted, “We’re living in an extremely dangerous age, where thugs like Putin and the mullahs of Iran could ignite a world war. We need honest and courageous media. Do we have that? You make the call.”
