Bill O’Reilly is shocked and obviously dismayed that a new CBS News poll found that 53% of Americans believe President Obama has “strong qualities of leadership.” Even worse for poor O’Reilly, he said that’s three points higher than a previous poll in November. So the Fox News host used his Talking Points segment tonight to explain the “almost unbelievable” results. Short answer? Americans are just dumb.
No way would O’Reilly accept the poll’s results as any kind of valid assessment of Obama by the American public. So O’Reilly called the commentary, “Why Americans are confused about President Obama.”
“How can that (poll result) be possible with all the problems in Obamacare and the dire situation overseas?” O’Reilly asked. He gave the following explanation:
The answer is twofold: First, the poll was taken among adults, not registered voters, not likely voters. Just folks. And the harsh truth is, that many of us are blatantly ignorant and lazy. We simply will not pay attention to the world around us. We get our information from other people who may be as dumb as we are. …Apathy in America is through the roof.
Second, ideologues… will never turn against their guy. It’s the same on the left or the right. So President Obama can count on core support from very liberal people who put theory above reality.
In other words, there are the ideologues who will (stupidly) support Obama no matter what he does and then there are the “folks’ who are just too ignorant and/or stupid to know better. That’s how O’Reilly views 53% of American adults, apparently.
So much for American exceptionalism. Or is it only the Republicans who are so exceptional? Maybe O’Reilly should change his motto to, “We’re looking out for you – because you’re too dopey and/or blindly ideological to look out for yourself.
Billy, who are these “folks” of yours, and why can they be trusted with movies and TV shows, but not with an opinion of The President? Or was that only ok with W, whom you seemed to think, “the folks” just loved?
Do you even know your own audience anymore?
And, Billdo proves just how little he listens to his own voice while bloviating; otherwise, he would never have made this statement: “We get our information from other people who may be as dumb as we are.” Yes, Bill, you said it yourself: Your viewers get their information from someone as dumb as they are.
“Maybe O’Reilly should change his motto to, “We’re looking out for you – because you’re too dopey and/or blindly ideological to look out for yourself.”
Pardon me — I believe this motto is more appropriate:
“We’re looking out for you – because you’re simply too stupid to THINK for yourself."
’Nuff said.
Dear “born on third base but thinks he hit a triple” O’Lielly: IT TAKES A DUMB AND IGNORANT AMERICAN TO KNOW ONE, YOU DUMBASS!
’Nuff said.
I’m surprised he didn’t say “nobody I know thinks this Obama character is any kind of leader.”
He also questioned every point that Kirsten Powers brought up to defend the President. Every one.
What a fair guy.
Apparently he’s blissfully un-aware of Republican obstruction since day one.
Thankfully he didn’t reference his horrid interview with the President again!
