Neil Cavuto wins the “Most Creative Way To Use Bridgegate To Smear President Obama” award. Last week, Cavuto seized on the news that Christie’s own internal investigation cleared him of wrongdoing to “prove” that President Obama is the one really in the doghouse.
Cavuto said in his March 27 "Common Sense" commentary on Your World:
Here’s all the proof you need the president no longer walks on water with the media these days. No sooner does he start a press conference with the leader of Italy than news networks immediately switched to another presser involving a certain Italian-American governor in New Jersey. …And get this: Chris Christie wasn’t even speaking.
…It’s true, the president bumped for a traffic jam! The media more interested in hearing from a guy who could derail a possible future candidate for president than the guy who already is president!
Not surprisingly, Cavuto deliberately made Christie look like the winner of this supposed “contest.”
The investigator didn’t derail anybody, certainly not the governor, who comes out of this jam-packed presser looking pretty good. His people were the ones playing these traffic tit-for-tat games, not the governor.
Cavuto did go on to mention that Christie’s “critics” dismissed the report exonerating him because, “as one of them put it, that’s like the fox reporting on how he policed the henhouse.”
But, not surprisingly, Cavuto didn’t dwell on the problems with the report nor how there are two external investigations pending that could well arrive at a different, weightier conclusion.
Instead, Cavuto made out like Obama was the major loser in a minor scandal:
(If) I’m Barack Obama, here’s what I fear: I am already old news. Because I’ve been upstaged by a guy who survived a traffic jam.
Remember when Fox was complaining that coverage of Christie eclipsed coverage of Obama? But that was so Benghazi ago.
Remember when Fox interrputed the President’s speech — so Fox pundits could make “commentary” on it?
(You should — they do so EVERY TIME.)
.
Does anyone NOT think that FoxNoise would be blasting the Administration for trying to “cover up serious crimes?” Meanwhile, an “investigation” put together BY CHRISTIE is treated as though it could’ve ever been impartial. Typical FoxNoise procedure.
