Joseph West commented on Fox Reports Bridgegate Scandal Could Help Christie’s 2016 Election Chances 2014-01-10 00:06:24 -0500 · Flag
“Nor that Christie is now in the position of either looking like he either doesn’t know what’s going on in his own administration or of lying about not knowing.”

All the more reason why FoxNoise would love Christie now. By “not knowing what’s going on in his own administration,” he evokes memories of St Ronnie of Raygun (Iran-Contra, anyone? Ollie North in the White House basement shredding files?) and by “lying about not knowing,” he evokes the “good” memories of Dubya (Saddam and 9/11?).

Of course, now FoxNoise can’t use the “T” word against African-Americans anymore, unless they’re now willing to admit that being a “thug” can be a good thing. And let’s face it: FoxNoise’s audience isn’t developed enough intellectually to be able to understand how a “Sopranos”-style thug is any different from a “Trayvon”-style thug. (It’s like their trying to understand how “Allah” is nothing more than the Arabic name for “God”—they simply can’t comprehend it. No matter how many times it’s explained to them that the Arab Christians living in the Middle East pray to “Allah” just as the Arab Muslims do, they just can’t understand it. Their brains haven’t quite made it past the “reptile” level yet.)

Joseph West commented on Roger Ailes Wants To Start A History Channel With Bill O'Reilly 2014-01-08 16:22:03 -0500 · Flag
Greg, there is a better version of the History Channel. It’s currently known as H2 but it used to be known as History International. (As far as I can tell, the only real difference now is that History International used to feature foreign-language versions of their programs—usually in Spanish—in the early morning. I think it was either 6-8 or 7-9am CT, but it’s been so long I honestly don’t recall.) And the idea that “false or incorrect” history is better than none, uh-uh. No, it isn’t. That kind of thinking is what led to the Teabaggers.

As for O’Reilly’s ventures with NatGeo, about the only good things I’ve ever heard about them have come from right-wing groups. Most real historians have generally called those shows absurd and laughable with only the most minimal of actual history being presented. And NatGeo’s also become a trash heap of reality programming (Border Wars, Alaska State Troopers, Wild Justice, Doomsday Preppers, Yukon Gold) and programs you’d just as likely see on Discovery’s Science Channel.

It is kind of funny though that Ailes would want to do a “Fox History Channel” (more properly, it should be “Faux History Channel”) since Fox already owns NatGeo (gee—maybe that’s why the channel’s worked with O’Reilly?).

Joseph West commented on Forthcoming Ailes Biography Says He Calls Bill O'Reilly 'A Book Salesman With A TV Show' 2014-01-08 16:00:55 -0500 · Flag
Jan, don’t forget that $100 a week for for “whenever” Ailes wanted. That could have meant as often as several times a day (I’m pretty sure Ailes has a permanent prescription for Viagra or Cialis and, if not, it’s not like you can’t get them from the internet without a prescription) to at least once a week.

If I’d been Harrison, I would’ve said $50 a week more for sex no more than once a week and you provide the blindfold so I don’t have to look at you while we’re doing it. AND, the $50 a week extra is guaranteed, even if I’m sick or have a yeast infection. Oh, one last thing—any medical bills resulting from STDs or unintended pregnancies, YOU pay for. It’d be interesting to see just how desperate Ailes was for the sex. (Conversely, I might’ve just told Ailes, keep the money—I’m sure you can find some $10 crack whores on the street willing to service you. Hell, get ’em on a good night and you might can talk them down to $5 for anything and everything.)

Joseph West commented on Fox’s Charles Payne: A Lot Of Poor People Are Lazy And Getting Lazier 2014-01-08 15:46:49 -0500 · Flag
Payne replied, “My life and my observation, that’s the study.”

Well, Mr Payne, unless you were born into a TRULY poor family (and your Wiki bio is very skimpy—not even listing your date or place of birth), your “life” isn’t exactly any sort of legitimate proof. As for “observation,” unless you’ve actually spent time AMONG genuinely poor people (and considering the kind of work you’ve been doing for the past 20 or so years, I really doubt), that’s also worthless.

See, scientists who use “observation” for their studies actually spend time among their subjects, watching how their subjects behave and interact.

But assholes, especially FoxNoise pundits, prefer to sit back in their ivory towers and pontificate based on one generalized image they might have seen (even if that was years ago). It is rather ironic, as well, since it’s frequently the FoxNoise pundits who berate social scientists for their “ivory towers” while ignoring their own.

Joseph West commented on Laura Ingraham Defends Phil Robertson's Homophobia, Attacks GLAAD 2014-01-07 21:19:13 -0500 · Flag
Gee, Bustya, Robertson was featured in GQ looking like a homeless person? Oh dear. Well, maybe he should, oh I don’t know, use some of the money he’s made from that “book” and that “merchandise” and hire someone who could keep him from looking like a homeless person. (Or from looking like one of those Taliban folks that keep trying to kill our soldiers and airmen in Afghanistan.)

And 10 years from now, Phil Robertson and the rest of his klan (spelling intended) will be a distant memory while GLAAD continues fighting the filth being spewed by the future Robertsons.

Joseph West commented on Steve Doocy Still Pimping Catholic Bishop's Opposition To Birth Control Mandate 2014-01-07 14:53:31 -0500 · Flag
Here’s an idea. Since RELIGIOUS groups are required to “certify” in order to receive TAX-EXEMPT status from the government, maybe the Feds should start taxing groups that fail to certify that they’re eligible for tax-exempt status.

Why do I have a feeling that FoxNoise does NOT object to THAT certification? In fact, didn’t FoxNoise get its collective underwear in a bunch when the IRS “targeted” teabagger groups seeking non-profit status? (Not that any of those groups was actually prevented from getting or using the status.)

Joseph West commented on Coulter Accuses Harris-Perry Of Inventing Racism: "There Is More Cholera" In The U.S. Than Racism 2014-01-07 10:46:10 -0500 · Flag
You know what’s funny, Visitor? The fact that SINCE “America elected a Black president,” there has been more racism. Hell, one could say it began its increase IN 2008 when it became obvious that Obama would be the Democratic nominee.

Joseph West commented on Tucker Carlson Claims Nuns On Pres. Obama's Enemies List 2014-01-07 00:49:01 -0500 · Flag
I wonder if Tucker would’ve said that the Bush White House had “failed to tame al-Qaeda or get Afghanistan/Iraq under control”? (Psst. Hey, Tucker. Under which President was Osama bin Laden finally eliminated?)

As for Kooiman (and really, what kind of name is that for a good FoxNoise personality? It sounds positively furrin), the “administration is telling the nuns to quit your bellyaching” line is so funny coming from someone at FoxNoise. Weren’t the FoxNoise liars basically telling Jews and atheists “to quit your bellyaching” (albeit not exactly with those words) during the whole “War on Christmas” crap? To just shut up and let the schools sing religious (ie, “Christ”) songs as part of the Christmas pageants? To let schools have Christmas trees and parties “for the kids” (presumably, the “Christian” kids only—the rest just needed to suck it up and deal with it)? And didn’t the whole FoxNoise liars basically tell gays to “quit your bellyaching” regarding Phil Robertson’s comments because of his “religious beliefs”? I guess it’s only “bellyaching” when FoxNoise wants to attack the Obama administration’s dealings with a religious group. (I won’t even get into the whole absurdity of FoxNoise personalities’ essentially saying that some groups don’t need to follow the law when it’s “inconvenient” for them. Do you suppose the FoxNoise people have done a 180 and now support minority voters who claim that voter ID laws being passed by GOP legislatures are unfair to them? Of course not. It’s just more right-wing hypocrisy on display.)

Joseph West commented on Chris Wallace Repeatedly Prods Mitt Romney To Attack MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry 2014-01-06 17:42:17 -0500 · Flag
Ellen, let’s not forget that Rush Limbaugh started the whole thing back in the early 1990s after Clinton was elected. Maybe you recall this: “Everyone knows the Clintons have a cat. Socks is the White House cat. But did you know there is also a White House dog?” at which point, he held up a picture of Chelsea. Despite all the outrage—even from a number of leading right-wing politicians—Limbaugh NEVER really apologized for it.

Oh. It’s also funny how Dennis completely IGNORES Ellen’s basic point that Sarah is NOT the “free speech advocate” she claimed to be just a couple of weeks ago in defending Phil Robertson’s vile comments.

I guess when you can’t argue the facts on their own merits you have to resort to deflect and divert (with the odd ad hominem attack thrown in for good measure).

I’d like to ask these people a very simple question: What should an employee do if he or she learns that the employer has a health insurance plan that DOES cover contraceptives BUT the employee opposes contraceptive use “based on deeply-held religious beliefs?” (That’s somewhat the flip of the Hobby Lobby bullcrap.) Should an employee give up a decent job because his/her employer “insists” on providing contraceptive coverage? OR, should the employee just, oh I don’t know, NOT use the coverage for him/herself? OR (more likely for the FoxNoise crowd) should the employee sue to force the employer to quit offering coverage that the employee finds an offense to those “deeply-held beliefs?”

Joseph West commented on Fox News Mail Call - January 14, 2014 Edition 2014-01-05 01:41:16 -0500 · Flag
To the first letter-writer, here’s an idea: Check the TV schedule and DON’T watch the show. As to why Fox is airing it, yeah. The network’s put on hundreds of shows starring African-Americans over the last 5 years because the President’s African-American—just like, the network aired thousands of shows starring whites over the previous 20 or so years when the President was white. (The reality is that Fox decided it needed something to add to its new Saturday late-night schedule which is generally designed to appeal to YOUNG viewers, that is, under 30. If the writer had bothered to check out the late-night schedule, he’d see that it basically is supposed to feature “edgy” programming. And given Fox’s less-than-stellar reputation for airing shows featuring people of color, it was probably more a marketing decision. No politics involved, lunkhead.)

To the second letter-writer: No. You’ve been lied to. You didn’t mention WHO told you that the Feds set the prices, but whoever it is was merely covering their ass. Additionally, you didn’t mention if this bill was what YOU had to pay over what your insurance covers or the actual bill because you don’t have insurance. The reason this is important is because the real culprit setting prices are the insurance companies in cahoots with the medical industry (hospitals AND physicians). I’m guessing you don’t have insurance but that’s really neither here nor there. The fact is that your medical bill is, say it with me now, PRIVATE ENTERPRISE IN ACTION. You know—what FoxNoise wholeheartedly endorses.

To the third letter-writer: So, when you FIRST bore witness to this fraud, why didn’t YOU get involved and contact your local welfare agency as well as the police and your local district attorney? And then, of course, it is interesting that, while you’re complaining about this fraud, YOU WERE AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT IN THE FRAUD. You claim to feel “guilty” about it, and yet, you did it. I doubt anyone was holding a gun to your head, forcing you to engage in fraud and yet, you did it. Now, here’s what I suggest you do: Shut your whining mouth and learn your lesson. Maybe the OTHERS about whom you’re complaining were in a similar predicament. Did you stop to think about that, you sorry piece of crap? Or did you feel “entitled” to pass judgment on the others?

As for that final letter-writer: I hope his “book” is easier to read than his letter. Of course, I’m guessing his “book” was published by some vanity press (you know—the kind where you pay them to print your book and you sell them out of the back of your van).

Dennis, I believe that the folks at GLAAD did get their comments from reading—the GQ article itself.

And don’t forget, you ignorant teabagging suckup, Robertson didn’t limit himself to simply insulting gays; he also had some pretty despicable comments about Blacks. And GLAAD actually MENTIONED those comments when they first responded—unlike airhead Palin (or any of the rest of the right-wing morons “defending Phil’s First Amendment rights”).

Joseph West commented on Megyn Kelly's Calculated Ploy For Internet Virality: Joke About Sleeping With Weather Gal Janice Dean 2014-01-04 01:54:49 -0500 · Flag
Kelly laughed and added, “The only reason I say this is because during Hurricane Sandy, there were no hotel rooms and Janice and I shared a hotel room so that there were enough rooms for all of the people on air.”

Well as some Southern folks would say, “Well, Megyn, that’s mighty white of you.” (Note—for those unfamiliar with the term, it’s generally a slight at, usually, white people who feel they’ve done some sort of good by treating their “inferiors” as if they’re actual people. In this case, Megyn is acting as though she should be commended for her “selfless” act. We all know how inconvenienced Megyn must have been by sharing a room with someone as insignificant as a “weather girl.” I bet she must’ve thought her days of having to share a room with someone else was years behind her.)

Joseph West commented on Bill O’Reilly’s Blasts The NY Times Benghazi Report With Sleight-Of-Hand Bull**** 2014-01-04 01:46:47 -0500 · Flag
I still think that O’Reilly needs to be reminded that only a handful of Americans died in Benghazi—no matter the reason or Obama’s culpability in the matter.

Compare and/or contrast that number to the approximately 3000 Americans died because of Dubya’s failure to bother reading a Presidential Daily Briefing while he was on that “much-needed vacation” (a mere 6 1/2 months after being inaugurated). Would Bill like to remind his audience as to how much of an investigation the (Republicon-controlled) Congress did into who bore responsibility for THAT loss of life? And then maybe Bill should remind his audience of how many more Americans died as a result of Dubya’s little invasion of Iraq (a country which had NOTHING to do with 9/11 nor were any of its citizens part of the whole operation, compared to Yemen, Saudi Arabia and the UAE—perhaps Lebanon as well, IMS).

I do continue to wonder why, back then, Bill and the rest of FoxNoise weren’t as keen in devoting hundreds of hours of airtime in covering Dubya’s failure to be proactive in regards to 9/11 or devoting hundreds of hours demanding the White House explain its failure? Could it have anything to do with the little letters, “G,” “O,” and “P?”

Yep. I called it. King is nothing but a troll.

Dude, if you want your State legislators to choose one of their own to send to the Senate, that’s fine with me, but I prefer knowing that our US Senators have to answer to THE PEOPLE. It’s funny how, when the Senate is a bunch of right-wing (tools), right-wingers are happy—even ecstatic—that THEY got to vote for their Senators but when the Senate is a bunch of (more or less) sensible people, then right-wingers start calling for LESS democracy in their own country.

As for your rant about “illegals,” don’t forget that YOUR last couple of governors WANT those “illegals” and have done NOTHING AT ALL to stop them. Dubya AND Perry both have actually supported policies that would essentially make ALL the “illegals” become legal citizens. Of course, all those “illegals” who are holding down those minimum-wage jobs just happen to be paying TAXES (called “payroll taxes” you right-wing schlub) AND they pay into Social Security and Medicare—neither of which they’re eligible to receive as long as they’re “illegal.” Also your little rant shows you are so incredibly stupid that you don’t realize you’re talking out of both sides of your mouth.

As for that “fraud” you’re peddling, prove it. And without relying on unproven right-wing sites. No FoxNoise. No Breitbart. No WorldNetDaily. I want LEGITIMATE NEWS SOURCES.

And the “buying” deal? Buddy, that’s all the right-wing knows. Newt Gingrich ALONE got more than $150 MILLION in “campaign donations” from ONE MAN. You right-wingers love to project. Just because YOU people are committing voter fraud (like Ann Coulter or James O’Keefe) and are spending money to buy politicians (like the Koch Brothers and Sheldon Adelson) doesn’t mean that the left does it. And let’s not forget that in the last 15 years, less than a dozen REAL cases of voter fraud have actually been documented.

Oh, and that whole “Socialism” crap. Get over it, you jerk. You might want to reread the Preamble to the Constitution (if you can actually read—based on your spelling of words of more than two syllables, I doubt you really can). There’s a little bit in there about “promote the general welfare.” But again, you right-wingers would just prefer the poor to be happy with what little scraps and crumbs you give them and if they’re not, then they should just die.

Joseph West commented on Fox & Friends Pimp GOP Rep.'s 'Bill' (Actually Resolution) To Save Christmas 2014-01-02 19:41:32 -0500 · Flag
What’s funny about the resolution is it fails in its introductory text.

“Whereas Christmas is a national holiday celebrated on December 25; and

Whereas the Framers intended that the First Amendment of the Constitution, in prohibiting the establishment of religion, would not prohibit any mention of religion or reference to God in civic dialog: "

Okay. The first part is correct but I’d love to see where the “Framers” expressed ANY such intent to the First Amendment which would support the premise of the second part. Don’t you think the “Framers” would’ve made the First Amendment actually SAY that if they’d “intended” it? (Of course, the “Framers” also CLEARLY stated their intentions about the Second Amendment but that doesn’t keep the gun nuts from saying just the opposite about it. But I digress……)

It’s also a bit funny that the resolution says “be it enacted by the Senate and the House of Representatives . . . That the House of Representatives . . . .” Apparently for the House to “recognize” or “express support” or “strongly disapprove” of something in a House Resolution, the Senate needs to enact the House Resolution.

Perhaps Ms McGlowan needs to try living HER life at a minimum-wage job and she how well she does.

As for Mr Scott, Ellen’s probably right about when he earned his “dollar, thirty-five.” A quick Google search of “jon scott fox news” turns up the very same man described here. And guess what? He was born on Nov 5, 1958 which means that Ellen’s 1974 guess is probably spot on. Of course, if he was working “for himself”—pretty much how most teenagers mowing lawns do—he probably wasn’t getting minimum wage anyway. When you’re going around the neighborhood offering to mow lawns, you have to gauge the price that the people are willing to pay. Maybe we could all send a petition to FoxNoise and suggest they pay Mr Scott a mere “dollar, thirty-five” an hour since he has such fond memories of making that much as a teen. I’d be willing to bet that FoxNoise would like that while Mr Scott might be a lot less happy about the severe pay cut.

Well, it’s a good thing that the majority of the FoxNoise audience was already sound asleep by the time the show aired; otherwise, there’d be tens of millions of complaints (FoxNoise does like to boast about how their “massive” viewership) to the FCC.

And, it would be truly interesting to watch FoxNoise have to balance defending a “live” broadcast with its “reputation” for being “family-friendly.”
