Sarah Palin's Comments About Phil Robertson Our Outrageous Quote Of The Week

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on January 03, 2014 · Flag

For the third week in a row, we have a runaway winner of our Fox News Outrageous Quote of the Week poll. This week's winner is Sarah Palin who revealed that she did not bother to find out what Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson actually said before she took to the media to defend him and denounce his critics.

In case you missed it, Palin said to host Greta Van Susteren about Robertson's comments, published in GQ:

I haven’t read the article. I don’t know exactly how he said it. But, Greta, what he was doing was in response to a question about a lifestyle that he disagrees with and yet he has said over and over again he doesn’t hate the person engaging in a lifestyle he disagrees with but he, in response, he was quoting the gospel. So people who are so insulted and offended by what he said evidently are offended by what he was quoting in the gospel. …So that’s another interesting aspect in all of this.

Palin won our poll with 162, or 65%, of the 250 total votes. You can review the full poll results here.

Stay tuned for our next Fox News Outrageous Quote of the Week Poll, which I try to post on Sunday nights.

Bob W., We happen to agree completely on the merits that the DD Dude has swamp for brains, and that A&E had to know what they had. That they couldn’t allow a GQ article that asked for his opinion to determine whether he was worthy to do the show that A&E already determined he was when they hired him. They had to know who they had. I believe that is where Palin stance was. Now you probably got the story from similar sources as me, and most likely Palin did the same. None of which was directly from the GQ article. AGAIN, Palin never commented on his direct quotes or the manner in which he stated them precisely because she didn’t read the article. She was honest about that. In fact, she probably deliberately didn’t read the article, so she would not have to answer for what DD Dude stated. She was invited on the show to explain HER stance, not the DD Dude’s stance. Can you not see how warped this argument for the LEFT is? Again, 99% of the people giving their opinion on what DD Dude stated, didn’t get it directly from GQ. Palin was aware like everyone else of his comments, and that the GQ article he was asked his opinion. How is it so amateurish of Palin to not want to entangle herself into DD Dude’s words? That is what the LEFT is trying to get her to do, but she is politically astute enough not to go there, yet defend her side of the political aisle. She won! A&E did ask she requested.

What is amazing to those who support Palin, is to see the lengths the LEFT will go to try to debase her, even if their argument makes no sense. Honestly if you can’t see it, I’ll tell you. The people at Newshounds and Huffington Post among many others, know they have these rapid Palin haters (even paid to do so) come charging onto the internet regardless of what they are commenting about makes sense, just to make sure their Palin narrative keeps being fed.

Would these same clowns come on the internet to attack the incompetence and corruption of Hillary Clinton (after Benghazi), yet how obvious is that?

Would these same clowns attack Obama about his serious lack of honesty on all subjects, yet how obvious is that?_

Dennis i love how you right wingers try to put Obama in the middle of everything. The President is not a part of this at all but you got to try and compare him to Palin? Moron-ism at its best!

WOW Dennis you drink much cool aid dude?? she ALWAYS appears to be right??? Wow. half Governor Palin is never prepared. not for a interview or a job! Just because A&E makes boo koo bank off those Hillbillys. is why he is back. i happen to agree that A&E should not have suspended him for that interview, as horrible as his opinions are. he has a right to them and exactly what did A&E think they were getting when they started a reailty show with a bunch of hicks! The sole issue here is that a paid commentator was on the tv to comment on what a guy said and then admitted that she didn’t even read what he wrote. that is being a lazy hypocrite at its finest

The lack of a Brain and failure to do the work necessary to get his job done is Obama. Palin had NO reason to read the GQ article. She never defended DD Dude’s words. She simply commented on A&E’s response to an interview that asked the Dude’s opinion. A&E finally got it right, and persons like Sarah Palin, who ALWAYS appears to get it right, was a step ahead of the A&E decision makers, GLAAD. Newshounds and their paid PDS bedfellows are once again making stuff up and not giving a crap how foolish they appear in debating an argument. Please someone tell me why Palin needed to read the article. She is not paid to opine of DD Dude’s words. She came to his defense on the fairness of the situation. AND once again she was RIGHT side.

Dennis McHale,

In the first place, you have no idea where GLAAD or anyone else read Robertson’s quotes.

However we do know that Palin didn’t bother to read the interview because she said: “I haven’t read the article. I don’t know exactly how he said it.” So even what she did read is questionable.

The point is, she gets paid nicely to appear on a news network and offer a point of view. She’s supposed to know what she’s talking about.

Gee, Dennis…..I’ve told you several times before:
‘There, their and they’re’ are all different, and NOT interchangeable.
Misuse of these words brands you as ignorant.
And then you continue to compound that impression by the inane thoughts you ‘express’.
We’re just trying to help you!
Happy New Year!

Too bad the Duckman didn’t make any rude comments about people with Down Syndrome. That would put Princess Sarah of Alaska between an iceberg and a hard place.

Dennis, I believe that the folks at GLAAD did get their comments from reading—the GQ article itself.

And don’t forget, you ignorant teabagging suckup, Robertson didn’t limit himself to simply insulting gays; he also had some pretty despicable comments about Blacks. And GLAAD actually MENTIONED those comments when they first responded—unlike airhead Palin (or any of the rest of the right-wing morons “defending Phil’s First Amendment rights”).

The weekly award for Most Outrageous Quote should be renamed “The Palin.”

The First Amendment protects your right to say almost anything you want. It does not protect you from criticism, ridicule or societal repercussions resultant from the foolish things you say!
I can believe in free speech and disagree with you!

Dennis, 99.9% of the population wasn’t appearing on tv to defend what someone had said. and how he said it. obviously by her having to tell Greta that she didn’t read the article. She was letting all of us know that she will blindly defend anyone to say anything as long as it isn’t against anything on the right. she was on the show TO GET INVOLVED. But she was as prepared for that as much as she was prepared for Katie and Charlie AND the vice presidency.

Newshounds, REALLY!? You actually lower yourselves to the level of the Huffington Post? Now let’s think real hard here. Where did all those uptight defenders of GLAAD get there information on the comments of Phil Robertson? They read them where ever his quotes should up in the print media. The SAME place Sarah Palin got her information on what Robertson said. 99.9% of the population didn’t read the GQ article, but certainly they read the comments (as did Sarah Palin) stated by the DD Dude. Palin was asked by Greta "Could you tell by the mannerism in which he stated his comments in the article (in other words did you detect any malice in his words). Since Palin didn’t read the exact article, she would have no reason to get involved with what he stated or how he stated it. She simply stated he had legitimate reason to answer it the way he did, and A&E would only hurt themselves if they took him off the air. Once again she was proven correct.

William Shakespeare once said, “Better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
