Is it fair for Fox to try to keep the president from campaigning 6 weeks from the election by criticizing whether he talks in person or on the phone with Bibi? I think that this is the kind of “noise” Obama was referring to in his interview. And that was a generous use of the word noise. (I’d call Fox’s attempt to interfere in foreign policy treasonous).

I hope Israel gets the message that any pre-emptive strike on Iran will be 100% on their own heads. The US tried the 1% doctrine for 8 years and VOTED IT OUT.

I’ve found right wingers concern for their grandchildren begins and ends with the ‘national debt’. They don’t want to create a world where their great-grandchildren will have a good education, health care, livable climate or decent jobs. They just want their great-grandkids to pay off the debt of the baby boomers and then stop spending entirely.

The US has the most unequal distribution of wealth in the industrialized world. The ma:jority of Americans would now like to see some redistribution of wealth. This is not a shocking idea in any way. Its only the Repubs that can’t accept that supply side/trickle down was a disaster for 80% of Americans.

Maybe Hannity should go the way of Limbaugh and have no guests and only people who agree with him may speak on air. Hannity seems to be flipping out, and should take a Xanax already.

Doesn’t Starnes work for a News Network? Aren’t they in the business of ‘investigating?’ Why does he want the federal government to do his investigating for him? Is he willing to pay more taxes for a new Bureau of Blasphemy Investigations? Will we need to repeal the freedom of speech part of the first amendment , make new laws and new prisons for the blasphemers? Why else would we investigate them, except to find them guilty of something. Many of the 47% can thank the Bush tax cuts for relieving them of paying federal income taxes. Nice of the Republicans to give them this ‘gift’ then call them names for it-when the 47% had nothing to do with deciding the tax cut.

But since the federal government is collecting less taxes and doing less for people, the local governments are collecting more and doing more. The rate of taxes paid over all groups is fairly even its just divided differently into sales tax, property tax, state income tax and federal income tax. So the idea of freeloaders is simply red meat for the wing nuts. This is a chart that spells it out clearly

Football Fan22 , I agree, if the right wing stuck to reality they could maybe have a chance at this election. But the lies they’ve come to believe about Obama are so much better than any reality-based criticism. They really don’t know how different they are from other people, that the same aggressive, mean-spirited, hyperbolic, unself-aware and self-righteous attritbutes that they possess are not a central part of other people’s personalities. Bill seem to think Christianity’s main focus revolves heavily around sex and-giving birth— sort of a patriarchal fertility cult where a man can plant his seed and expect it to grow no matter what. You’d think from listening to Bill that Christianity is pretty much a religion about who can have sex and who can’t, and about what to do with those who are having sex without Christian approval. It is tedious and Puritanical. Bills obsession with sex related matters is embarrassingly adolescent. Thankfully the Catholic Church outside the US is much more mature.

Hannity’s questions and comments were so off-kilter and display that he doesn’t know anything about Egypt (Why didn’t the President of Egypt go to Iran and condemn them on their own soil!) Wonder why the Repub’s don’t legislate that religions can offer health insurance to their chuch members. What a great way for them to a) get insurance out from under the employer and b) get religious people the exact health insurance coverage that their religion will allow them to have.
Talk about the freedom to live your faith! ;-)
I’m sure Evangelical and Catholic men and women around the country would jump at the chance to stand up and buy health insurance that doesn’t cover their birth control! And the rest of us can get the kind of coverage we believe in. (We’re gonna need some alternative churches though.)
