Joseph West commented on Todd Starnes Regales An Outraged Elisabeth Hasselbeck With Persecuted Christian Tall Tales 2014-06-13 23:23:16 -0400 · Flag
Maybe someone should remind Mr Starnes of a certain saying from that book that Christians love (or, at least, claim to love) so much: “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.” (That’s the Eighth or Ninth Commandment, depending on one’s particular religious instruction.)

And then there’s this from Exodus 23: “Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness. Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment: . . . Keep thee far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous slay thou not: for I will not justify the wicked.” (Verses 1, 2, and 7) And I’m not familiar with anywhere in the New Testament that Jesus said it was okay to break any of these laws.

Mr Starnes might need to beg a little more forgiveness when he says his prayers at beddy-bye time tonight.

Joseph West commented on Dennis Miller: Hillary Clinton Has Been ‘Cheated On More Frequently Than A Blind Woman Playing Scrabble With Gypsies’ 2014-06-12 18:42:14 -0400 · Flag
Yeah, but Bob, that doesn’t explain much. After all, who was President when 9/11 happened? And whose policies were in charge of both the House and Senate which 9/11 happened? The same “conservative policies” that Miller seems to believe “could prevent another one” were in effect WHEN 9/11 happened. (The only real difference is that after 9/11, the “conservative” President actually paid attention instead of ignoring things like he did just a month before the attacks.)

Joseph West commented on What Fox News Didn’t Cover About Cantor’s Loss 2014-06-11 16:05:50 -0400 · Flag
@ DjWeideman: Well, usually, a reputable news network (not that that particular term really applies to FoxNoise) would include a “can’t be reached for comment at this time” disclaimer when reporting a story. And if this coverage did last for more than 2 hours, you’d think that someone would’ve said, several times, “We’re unable to get word from Mr Cantor or his representatives at this time” or “There’s been no word from Mr Cantor at this time” or “We’re still waiting to hear from Mr Cantor or his spokesmen at this time” or something to that effect DURING THE BROADCAST.

And you might want to note that the article’s suggestion is “that Fox didn’t try to talk to Cantor directly” and “Cantor . . . refused all media requests” are NOT mutually exclusive points. DID Fox try to talk to Cantor? I’m not seeing anything from the article OR from your “defense” suggesting that Fox did actually attempt to contact Cantor. If they didn’t, then they’re guilty of what they’ve been accused of.

Joseph West commented on Fox Nation Ignores Las Vegas Shooting! 2014-06-10 01:56:56 -0400 · Flag
@ Rick: Maybe you just didn’t look closely enough or misjudged where the “bottom of their home page” is. When I just checked (12:45 am, 6/10), a story a little above the halfway point (known in the print trade as “above the fold”) features “Las Vegas Shooters Identified” with their pictures. Below the pictures are the phrases “Suspect Reportedly Sought Gun On Facebook,” “Boasted About Cliven Bundy’s Ranch” and “Sequence of Events.”

Then again, at least HuffPo (even if they “buried this story down towards the bottom of the page”) still covered it—as opposed to FoxNution.

Joseph West commented on George Will Talks Up The ‘Coveted Status’ Of Being A Rape Victim 2014-06-10 01:36:49 -0400 · Flag
Okay. This may be a bit over the top but I’m beginning to think Mr Will needs to spend a little time in a men’s prison so he, too, can earn the “coveted status” of being a rape victim.

Generally, I wholeheartedly believe that no one deserves to be raped but Will is seriously challenging my beliefs.

Joseph West commented on Fox’s Peters Calls Bergdahl’s Father ‘Pops Taliban’ 2014-06-06 02:40:13 -0400 · Flag
Well, I don’t understand why Mr Bergdahl gets routinely compared to the Taliban by the FoxNoise kkkrew (both hosts and guests) but not a peep from them over those Dick Duck folkkks from Louisiana and their facial hair.

Okay. I know there’s a little thing called “hypocrisy” in play, but aside from that, I can’t see how even the regular FoxNoise viewers would have an attention span short enough to forget the FoxNoise slobbering over the Dick Duck folkkks. There can’t be that many people suffering from Alzheimer’s being monitored by the Neilsens.

Joseph West commented on Hannity Wants You To Think Bergdahl’s Father Gave ‘Muslim Victory Call’ At The White House 2014-06-05 11:17:09 -0400 · Flag
@ truman: No. The question shouldn’t be “Why does he support pedophilia?” The question SHOULD be “Is Hannutty a pedophile?” At least, if you’re applying Hannutty’s “logic.”

Hannutty and his guests aren’t saying that Bergdahl’s father is a mere “supporter.” No, they’re actually suggesting he is a radical Muslim/Taliban. And they’re doing so because of those “prayers.”

For the record, those quotes are courtesy of Bob Cesca at The Daily Banter.

http://thedailybanter.com/2014/06/republicans-sgt-bergdahl-now/

Here, by the way, is the last of the “THEN” quotes from right-wingers from Cesca’s piece. Courtesy of Rep Rich Nugent of Florida: “Last year, on the fourth anniversary of Sgt. Bergdahl’s capture, on the floor of the House of Representatives, I introduced a resolution in the House calling on the United States to do everything possible not to leave any members of the armed forces behind during the drawdown of Iraq and Afghanistan. Believe it or not, I had members of Congress come up to me and say, ‘I didn’t know we had a living POW in Afghanistan.’ That was shocking to me.” Nugent said that in February of THIS YEAR. NOW, however, Mr Nugent is angry because the Administration knew “full well that there was strong opposition to a prisoner swap.” What could have possibly happened in the last 4 months to make such a 180-turn in feeling? Hmm. Could it be that the Black man at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue did something that GOPers had been wanting done? Naaaah. Couldn’t possibly be that. That would be hypocritical, and as we all know, if there’s one thing that can’t be said of GOPers is that they’re hypocrites.*

*Should I point out that was sarcasm?

Joseph West commented on Brian Kilmeade Suggests Bergdahl Is A Collaborator - As Well As A Deserter! 2014-06-04 02:01:23 -0400 · Flag
Um, here’s some pretty interesting stuff from the right-wing PJ Media stie.

It’s dated January 21, 2014.

http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2014/01/21/supporters-of-pow-urging-white-house-to-use-force-if-necessary-to-rescue-sergeant/

“Supporters of an Idaho soldier taken prisoner of war in Afghanistan back in 2009 have launched a petition to get the White House to make an effort to rescue Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
…..
“It needs 100,000 signatures by Feb. 16 to prompt a White House response. As of this writing, more than 2,800 have signed the petition.

“Add your name to the petition here.”

And, here’s everybody’s favorite Quitter, quoted in 2009:

Governor Sarah Palin offered her support and encouragement to the family of a Ft. Richardson soldier captured in Afghanistan.

“Todd and I are praying for Private First Class Bowe Bergdahl, his family, and all of his fellow soldiers who are putting their lives on the line to defend our freedom and protect democracy abroad,” Governor Palin said. “The capture of Private Bergdahl and the bombings in Jakarta prove that we have not defeated terrorism, and that radical extremists will stop at nothing to attack Westerners and our ideals.”

More than 7,000 soldiers and airmen stationed in Alaska are currently deployed overseas.

“Our men and women who volunteer to wear the uniform have the best training and experience of any military in the world,” said Lt. Gen. (AK) Craig E. Campbell, Adjutant General of the Alaska National Guard. “We know that when we deploy that anything can happen, and we pray that PFC Bergdahl’s fellow soldiers can find him quickly and reunite him with his family.”

Yep. If we can count on anything, it’s right-wing hypocrisy after Obama does something they wanted him to do. Sheesh. Maybe Obama should go on TV and say, “Today, I’m ordering all Republicans to breathe.” If history’s any guide, our emergency responsders would be overwhelmed with the millions of GOP corpses from sea to shining sea.

Joseph West commented on O’Reilly Suggests Obama Should Have Left Sgt. Bergdahl In Afghanistan 2014-06-03 13:50:51 -0400 · Flag
I doubt that Bergdahl’s father’s LOOKING like Taliban was really that much of a problem. After all, he doesn’t have any problem with the Duck Dynasty dorks—all of whom could probably pass for Taliban fighters (as long as they pretended to be stupid, deaf and mute). And given Papa Duck’s notorious comments from the past year, I’d say he’s no less fanatical than the Taliban in his beliefs.

Joseph West commented on Bill O'Reilly: Jane Fonda Is A Traitor Who Shouldn't Speak At UCLA Graduation 2014-06-03 13:43:30 -0400 · Flag
What O’Reilly is also overlooking is the fact that Fonda is NOT giving the commencement address for the WHOLE of UCLA. She’s only speaking to the college’s School of Theater, Film and Television.

And what’s really funny about this whole faux-outrage is even most of the usual right-wing noise machine suspects are HIGHLIGHTING the specific School and they’re completely ignoring it, treating it as though Fonda’s there to speak to the graduates of the entire university. (I don’t know with any certainty but I would imagine each of the college’s various schools hold separate commencement ceremonies.)

Gee Dick, if only your “boss” and his national security “adviser” had bothered to take a certain Presidential Daily Briefing a bit more seriously in August of 2001, instead of continuing his 30-day vacation (which was nearly HALF the vacation days he took in just his first year in office), maybe we could’ve stopped al-Qaeda from killing those 3000+ people.

And, considering the number of DEFERMENTS you got to AVOID military service, you really are the last facking person to be discussing anything related to the military.

So, Toddles. You’d risk the lives of our troops to “rescue” a lawbreaker?

So I guess this means you’d support the full force of the US military to take down that scofflaw, Cliven Bundy. I mean, after all, he’s broken AMERICAN laws.

Joseph West commented on Fox News Ratings Take A Big Dive 2014-05-31 14:26:06 -0400 · Flag
@ Richard: Given the fact the AVERAGE FoxNoise viewer’s age is 68.8, it wouldn’t surprise me if those “younger viewers” they were supposed to bring were 45 to 55 year old men (who value airheadedness over brains, and blonde airheadedness trumps all else).

What I’d like to see is the breakdown of viewership by gender. Even though women tend to outnumber men in the overall population after the age of 50, TV viewership doesn’t always reflect the general population. I’ve got a feeling that FoxNoise has a male-majority viewership in all ranges.

I wish someone would ask him why he admires the Taliban so much, since he obviously based his beard on theirs.
