And, to add to David’s comment, the North Korean missiles are fully capable of reaching the Japanese home islands (one of the reasons that Japan’s PM was so concerned about NK’s recent missile test). If the US couldn’t take out ALL the missile launch facilities simultaneously, Pyongyang’s response would be a launch not just at South Korea but also Japan.
And, any attack on NK would NOT be welcomed by either South Korea or Japan. Hell, South Koreans don’t necessarily want to reunite with North Korea since it would be a veritable repeat of what happened with the Germanys in the early 90s. Both sides were ecstatic at the prospect of reunification but it soon became apparent to the former West Germans that they would bear the weight of helping the former East move towards the former West’s economic level; more recently, it’s been the former East that’s seen a major resurgence in neo-Nazi activity, including anti-immigrant actions, since the former East’s economy still lags woefully behind the former West’s—and that’s been a quarter century since reunification. The Vietnams were a bit of a reverse situation since the former North had lagged economically; even with the effects of the War, the former South had a much better economy. With the North’s conquest of the South and the resulting diaspora of much of the former South’s richer families, the economies of both halves became somewhat more equal.
Japan probably wouldn’t mind an economically weakened single Korea but, given the historical antipathy between Japan and Korea (both Koreas, actually), Japan would be on a constant alert that the single Korea might welcome economic aid from China and/or Russia (countries which also share some antagonism towards Japan); DOYC only knows that Chump’s USA won’t be helping to “clean up the mess” it makes after destroying the North (remember the mess the US made in Iraq?) UNLESS Korea allowed itself to become an American puppet state.

This “judge” might want to note that thousands of people WITH green cards were detained, even turned away, immediately after Chump’s order was announced. Also, people who’d been PROPERLY vetted (a process that generally takes MONTHS, if not years) were turned away.
I think it’s about time that ALL the cases she heard when she was actually on the bench as well as ALL the cases she prosecuted (she was a district attorney, as well) need to be reviewed for impropriety. It’s hard to imagine anyone who’s so blatantly open with her bias and bigotry could’ve ever served as an impartial judge; as a prosecutor, obviously, she wasn’t expected to be impartial to a defendant, but she DID have the responsibility to ensure she wasn’t involved in railroading an accused person (prosecutors DO have to ensure their cases are won fair and square, and not by using uncorroborated testimony and/or tampered evidence). Based on her appearances on FoxNoise, I can’t imagine how she could’ve been anything less than a biased, eager-to-convict shrew as an elected official.

Kevin: There might be a chance of swinging the Senate, but the House is going to be a much tougher deal, given the horrible level of gerrymandering the GOP-dominated state legislatures engaged in after the 2010 Census.
Following the redistricting, the GOP only lost 8 seats, even with Obama at the top of the ticket (dropping from 2010’s 242 seats to 234), then added 13 in the 2014 elections, and only lost 6 seats this past election (putting the GOP just 1 seat below where they were in 2010). And if it weren’t for those pesky requirements for majority-minority districts, you can be sure the GOP legislatures would’ve made sure to split up heavily minority areas to lessen Democratic votes even more.

" I spoke for 35 minutes on three network Sunday shows. You know what got picked? The fact that I said alternative facts, not the fact that I ripped a new one to some of those hosts for never covering the facts that matter to America’s women, 16.1 million women in poverty as we sit there, the 12.4 million who have no health insurance. Everybody should feel outraged."
Right, Conway. Why the fuck should the media cover any of that since your boss doesn’t seem to have any problem throwing millions (including those poor “women” about whom you whine) off the health insurance they’ve currently got through “Obamacare.” Furthermore, you vicious whore (let’s not forget that Kellyanne, during the primary campaign, was vehemently ANTI-Trump—she backed Cruz until Cruz ended his campaign, then got hired by Chump, so I think “whore” is more than accurate a description), what is your boss planning to do to, you know, HELP all those women in poverty? All we hear is “tax cuts,” but those NEVER go to the poor (after all, it’s a given to the GOP, that the “poor don’t pay taxes”) and whatever minimal Federal tax cut they might get, they’re going to wind up spending that, and probably more, in LOCAL taxes doing their grocery shopping, etc.
As for your faux concern over “the facts that matter to women,” you might want to ask yourself about YOUR concern over your boss’s grossly offensive discussion about his “behavior” towards women. Of course, since YOU"RE a whore, you don’t really give two shits about other women as long as you’re getting yourself taken care of.
Oh. And maybe if YOUR boss had spent some time ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL talking about “the facts that matter to women,” rather than bragging about how he could “grab a woman by the pussy” (and you might remember he NEVER denied making the comment—his only complaint was that it was made public), the media might feign some interest in whatever bullshit you chose to spew about “the facts that matter to women.”
(Note to anyone who’s offended by some of the language, I’m not apologizing. These Republicon Deplorables are all happy that the “speaks his mind” Chump is in charge so they can spew whatever racist and sexist shit they want, so I’m going to give back what they so freely want to dish out themselves. Believe me, there were some other choice terms I wanted to use in reference to Kellyanne but refrained from doing so in deference to the hosts of this site. Believe you me, though, if I were to send a copy of this to Kellyanne herself, she would be complaining about the language for years, further proving the Republicon hypocrisy regarding goose and gander.)

Clarke really needs to remember he’s not that far removed from a time when folks like him were some mighty “strange fruit” indeed. (Lynchings happened in the North, though more frequently the victims were whites who were facing sentencing for crimes and people didn’t want to wait OR they were viewed as “escaping justice” so the locals took the law into their own hands. But there were many folks who shared Clarke’s skin tone who were lynched in the North.)

These “Outnumbered” ditzes (believe me, there was another word I’d much prefer using, but it’s a bit insulting to our four-legged friends) might need to learn that under a Chump administration, it’s not exactly the anti-choice, forced-birther movement that’s going to suffer. Those “women” who claim to oppose Chump will see their agenda fulfilled (or, at the very least, pushed as close to fulfillment as possible), regardless of Chump’s misogynistic attitudes and behavior.
These “women” would’ve supported the likes of Cruz or Kasich or any of the rest of the Republikkkan Klown Kar—all of whom offered varying degrees of acceptance of an anti-choice, forced-birth agenda.
The group in charge of the march were well within their rights to deny these “women” any place in the march. The whiners might want to remember the Supreme Court has upheld the idea that private groups are well within their rights to deny access or participation by anyone for pretty much any reason. (Just ask gay men who’ve been denied membership in the Boy Scouts—and gay Scouts who turn 18 have been forced to drop out of the program. Or the LGBT groups who were denied the chance to participate in the “official” St Patrick’s Day parade—the one that the city of New York provided security for and NYC taxpayers were on the hook for to clean up after.) These whiny “women” weren’t the least bit interested in joining the march to oppose Chump; they only wanted to be there to spew their anti-choice/forced-birther agenda.
(My use of quotation marks around the word, woman, was deliberate. Most such groups tend to be fronts for some male-dominated operation or are funded by rich and powerful men who only want women to be baby factories and trophies; once the women have fulfilled their male-designated purpose, they’re discarded in favor of a younger model.)

I’m actually in full agreement with Alveda.
Of course, I completely reject her rationale. I firmly believe that the esteemed Dr King would be praying that America would survive the next four years of theChump Trump “presidency” and that he, and the rest of the Republicon Party, be so soundly thrashed in the 2018 and 2020 elections that FoxNoise would be left having to send monthly cash to all its viewers simply to maintain their current ratings.
The esteemed Dr King would never willingly accept the idea of someone like Pig Sessions as Attorney General (and the rest of Chump’s Cabinet picks would never get any support from the esteemed Dr King; he’d probably have choked on his dinner after hearing that the utterly unqualified Ben Carson was even being considered for a Cabinet post—I could imagine Carson getting some support as Surgeon-General, but not much else). MLK would’ve demanded a chance to appear at the hearings on Sessions’ nomination to denounce, in the strongest terms, a man so eminently unqualified to serve as the country’s highest law enforcement official. And he would’ve raised holy hell if denied the chance.
I also like to think MLK would be out there publicly rebuking Alveda at every turn. (Then again, if MLK were still alive, Alveda would be a nobody since she doesn’t seem to have any real job in the real world beyond being FoxNoise and the right-wing’s favorite “mammy” figure.)

I was watching the NBC Nightly News on break at work and there was a segment dealing with this woman in Tennessee who’s worried about what’s going to happen to her when the ACA is repealed. She’s undergoing chemotherapy treatments for cancer and the ACA is basically the only thing keeping her alive. The report noted that Tennessee (or maybe it was her specific part of the state) voted overwhelmingly for Trump.
What the reporter did not ask was who this woman voted for.
While I feel for the woman’s situation, I can’t help but think that her neighbors (if not she herself) are responsible by continuing to vote these heartless MFing Republicons into office.
And what’s worse: I honestly believe that if Republicon politicians were put under some sort of charm or spell to tell the absolute truth in every situation or risk bursting into flames, at least 70% of present Republicon voters would STILL vote for GOPers who told constituents the absolute unvarnished truth about how they’re going to screw over the voters.

I really don’t know who this “Todd Elliott Koger” posting that long-winded piece of crap is, but I remember reading much of the EXACT same screed a month or so ago (only the whine about no tickets for Chump’s inauguration seems new). I strongly believe whoever is posting this is himself (or herself—Monica? is that you?) is plagiarizing someone else’s work and posting under Koger’s name.
Why do I believe this? Well, how many OTHER people would waste so much space and, not one single time, use the first person pronouns when they should be used.
For instance, this passage: “All across America the black vote “boycott” masterminded by Todd Elliott Koger effectuated an insurmountable obstruction for Hillary Clinton and the Democrats.”
If this is actually the “Todd Elliott Koger” referred to in the passage, why not write “me” in the sentence, rather than a bizarre third-person construct.
And, again in this passage: “There is correspondence to the Trump campaign that outlined “Koger’s Plan.” There was a “Thank you for the suggestion” reply. And, President-Elect Donald Trump’s verbatim use of Mr. Koger’s exact same words during “online videos” and speeches that followed in Michigan, Milwaukee (Wisconsin) and Pennsylvania.”
Why not “my plan” and “verbatim use of my words” in it, if this is actually “Todd Elliott Koger” instead of some troll, stealing someone else’s works.
Indeed, the passages I quoted, I clearly remember from that earlier screed, because I spent time Googling this “Todd Elliott Kroger” and found there to be a man who was involved in Pittsburgh, PA politics, on some elected board or something (I don’t feel like bothering to look it up again). The man was TROUNCED in a PETTY LOCAL election, and yet, for some insane reason, he believes that he wielded enough power and influence to lead a “boycott” affecting the African-American vote in four states.
If this is the same Koger actually posting as the individual mentioned in the screed, then, dude, learn how to fucking write a story about yourself in the FIRST person. This kind of garbage you’re posting is little more than plagiarism (the very stuff that Crowley’s being taken to task over), and even the subject of a story does NOT have a right to take someone else’s words and post them as his or her own.
But, please, do us all a favor, and go away. And this time, stay away.
At least until you learn how to post a comment using YOUR own words—rather than stealing someone else’s. And if you really ARE the “Todd Elliott Koger” from that little crapfest, it’s no wonder you can’t even win a measly little local political contest—you’re an idiot. I wouldn’t trust you to write a shopping list much less handle public resources and money.

Perhaps Ms White would like to explain how -Chump-Trump would pass Jesus’ Beatitudes (from Matthew 5).
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven. (The “poor in spirit” reference generally is taken to mean a realization that material things are unimportant; not exactly what you’d expect of someone who wants to put his own name on virtually every single thing.)
Blessed are those who mourn: for they will be comforted. (Not sure I’ve ever seen Trump mourn anything or anyone.)
Blessed are the meek: for they will inherit the earth. (Well, this one leaves Trump out in the cold. “Meek” is the last word to describe him.)
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they will be filled. (Trump’s “hunger and thirst” seem to be more directed at material possessions and personal reputation.)
Blessed are the merciful: for they will be shown mercy. (Yeah. “Merciful.” From a guy who routinely mocks those suffering physical and mental limitations or restrictions.)
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they will see God. (“Pure in heart.” A guy who makes sexually offensive comments to and about women?)
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they will be called children of God. (Bwahahaha!!!!! Hint: A real “peacemaker” wouldn’t threaten to sue everyone for the slightest perceived offense.)
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Well, I’m sure Trump fits right in with the vast swath of “persecuted” that FoxNoise loves to feature—except they’re only being persecuted in their own minds. It never ceases to amaze me how, in one breath, FoxNoise and the “persecuted Christians” can talk about how Christians are a “yuuuuuge majority” but then whine about the persecution they suffer from not being able to use that majority status to trample on other people’s rights.)

Incidentally, on the suggestion of giving federal recognition to either holiday, that’s highly unlikely since they’re both MUCH longer than single-day celebrations would permit. Hanukkah is only 8 days and Ramadan is a full month.
Both religions do have important holidays which are essentially single day holidays; however, for Islam, there can be significant differences in the meaning, depending on the sect/branch—such as with Ashura. Aside from Ashura, Eid al-Fitr and the Islamic New Year are really the only other “one-day” celebrations—and Eid al-Fitr actually commemorates the end of Ramadan (you could almost think of it like the Muslim version of the Super Bowl—if US football fans spent the season fasting). For Judaism, you pretty much have just Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Shavuot and Purim as the main “one-day” holidays but Purim is the only one that lacks any STRONG religious connections.
Muslims and Jews alike tend to maintain STRONG religious observations and traditions when it comes to their holidays (the word is an English mash-up of “holy days”) unlike us “crass” Americans. I doubt many American Muslims or Jews would take to commercializing any of their “holy days” (not even those who are relatively secular or not strongly observant).

Yep. All those “evil Black drug dealers” out there forcing poor, hapless, helpless white folks into doing smack.
O’Reilly wouldn’t give two sh!+$ if the “epidemic” was primarily affecting the Black community. As noted with his reference to “crack dealers”" The whole “crack” epidemic in the 1980s was a manufactured problem but only because white kids were starting to do crack, which is no more potent than powder cocaine; but because crack was sold for a few bucks compared to powdered coke which sold for far more money. Of course, the powder could be cut with things like baking soda and flour, which lessened the potency, while crack couldn’t be; the only thing that could replace crack would be something like rock candy which didn’t burn like crack. And, selling crack earned harsher sentences than selling the powder form.

I’d love to see Joy’s completely contemptuous and sarcastically snarky response to Bill’s “threat.”
Then, Bill can be offended on his own behalf.

I hope that the folks in charge of the Fox Empire is paying attention—especially when China decides to take a little revenge by barring any and all Fox films from showing.
This year, China was responsible for 22% of the worldwide box office take for “X-Men: Apocalypse.” 19% of the worldwide take for “Independence Day: Resurgence” and nearly 30% of the worldwide take for “Kung-Fu Panda 3” (in fact, that film’s box office take in China exceeded the US box office).
And, I doubt Fox wants their “Assassin’s Creed” to follow Universal’s “Warcraft.” That film only took in $47 million at the US box office (against an estimated $160 million budget) and was pretty much saved by the foreign market—notably China where it took in more than $220 million (the worldwide box office take for the film was $433 million). Of course, the two films’ only real connection is they’re both based on computer/video games but World of Warcraft was almost as ubiquitous as Assassin’s Creed. And, Fox also has “Logan” (a new Wolverine film coming next year) and China’s contribution to the worldwide box office take of the X-Men franchise has been pretty substantial over the years (in addition to the previously mentioned 22% of the worldwide box-office of “X-Men Apocalypse,” China accounted for 16% of"X-Men: Days of Future Past"and about 10% of “The Wolverine”).
It’ll take a while for the results to show, but, if 20th Century Fox’s fortunes are affected because Trump hurt China’s feelings and FoxNoise was cheerleading Trump’s behavior, there could be consequences for the “news” division.
