One thing that jumped out at me in the above article, because religious bigotry galls me so, was the mention of the small ©hristian bakers that don’t want to bake wedding cakes for, or even serve, LGBT people. Those people should be made to put a sign in their windows saying that they discriminate because of their religion so I know not to support them financially.
My grandmother was a life long feminist though the word hadn’t yet been invented. Worked hard all her life yet was always the working poor. Cleaned other people’s homes and businesses, sold Avon, was a baker in a hotel, etc. My grandfather couldn’t work because he went blind due to a work related accident then died at age 39 anyway from Addison’s disease.
She was a very good, large ©hristian woman who lived with us until she died when I was six. If I heard it once I heard it a million times, “Margie, would Jesus like it if you said, did, acted, like that?” Not a word from the Old Testament except for the Commandments. She was the word of Christ all the way.
Never heard a word against the ‘coloreds’, (she was a product of her times) and according to my mom and aunt, Grammy was always helping the Black and Asian people that lived in her neighborhood back in the nineteen oughts-forties. Baking for them, slipping them a little spare money.
She and my grandpop also worked tirelessly for the then much more liberal Republican Party and women’s rights. I have a pic of her in her ankle length dress, button shoes and big brimmed hat on her way to the polls for the first time in her life to vote. People are all in the same boat she’d often say. She even had a couple of probable gay people in her family even though it wasn’t mentioned back in the day. Just Uncle George was a life long bachelor that liked to hang out with his ‘friends’ and Aunt Sally lived with her girlfriend to ‘cut expenses’.
Sorry about the rant guys. I guess because the thought of a gay conservative woman trying to defend Ivanka and Melania cashing in on their social position and defending Trump, then telling the rest of us to support them despite that, pisses me off when I think I had a feminist in the family that I’d much rather emulate then those two. Either that or the fact that it’s been raining hard for the past two hours and the atmospheric pressure is squeezing my brain.

No wonder you were confused David.
There’s also a Paris Kentucky and a Paris Missouri, but I doubt that you’d find any Renoirs there either since both states went for Trump in the elections and more than likely never heard of him.
You might find American Gothic or a Grandma Moses or two.

I wonder if Trumpty Dumpty were ever brave enough to point out that since 33,000 Americans are killed by guns every year, that there are probably at least 32,500 killers (taking into account multiple victims of one person with one gun) would the NRA call it a hit job?

My vote goes to Bolling.
For him to mock someone that has lost family members in the Holocaust makes him a real POS.
If there is a Dante-esque 9 Circles of Shitdom — they are: (courtesy of time spent waiting for my dog)
The Urge, The North-South Alignment, The Assume The Position, The Fine Tune The Feet Shuffle, The Prairie Dog, The Hitting The Ground, The Moving Forward A Bit To Make More Room, The Turn Around And Sniff, and finally the Bolling — A dried out old white turd blowing away in a stiff wind.

Christmas is Dec. 25th.
I start saying Merry Christmas on Dec. 24th.
If I know you’re Jewish, I’ll say Happy Hanukkah when Hanukkah starts.
Same with any Black friends or co-workers.
Happy Kwanzaa.
Flying Spaghetti Monster your thing?
May your days be covered in the sauce of your choice.
Until then, it’s Happy Holidays.

OMG. I’m just shy of 60 yrs. old and all that goes through my mind is a line from one of the Star Wars movies from years ago, can’t remember which one, but queen Padmé Amidala is standing before the Galactic Senate calling for a vote of no confidence.
Wish we as citizens could have a vote of no confidence and let majority rule (I’m sure that now that we know what we know, we’d get a majority too) and redo the whole damn election.
I just don’t trust anything about this election now after Russian tampering, much less the Republicans. Especially after the selections made by Dump and Prick and what is shaping up to be a hot mess of a cabinet/administration and also because of the shenanigans going on in NC. Scary stuff.
My MIL was in Hitler youth and my FIL was conscripted into the army in ‘44 when he was fifteen and Hitler and his army was taking every man and boy who could heft a rifle and shooting them and their families if they refused. They both have died within the last five years. She was suffering from dementia and she’d watch the news and sometimes think that some of the things she was hearing and seeing on the news was from her youth and she’d start in on Hitler and the Nazis. Must of been a pretty bad time if hearing Republicans on the news is dredging up memories of Nazi Germany.
My husbands grandmother and father were White Russians, have a pic of him in his uniform on his horse. Mention the Communists in front of them and they’d use to spit and call them pigs.
Unfortunately, that whole generation is dead and dying and what they could bear witness to is dying with them. Soon there will be no one left to sound the alarm. Probably what the Republicans have been waiting for.

Gee, I might care if I was voting for Bill.
Did Clinton really attack Bill’s other women? Good for her if true. I wouldn’t hold it against her, ever. Ya know why and I bet I’m not the only child of divorce with a similar story?
I remember when I was ten and II’m fifty nine now, my mom threw me in the car, tore up the road at top speed and parked the car outside his girlfriends apartment and laid on the horn until people all came to the windows to look out. When she saw my dad finally look out and she was sure she saw him, she drove off. The next day, she packed my serial philanderer dad’s bags and put them, and paper bags full of assorted other possessions, on the front porch for all the neighbors and all the cars driving by to see. She did it after he left for work so that they sat there all day.
A blow for him since he was the superintendent of schools, in a small, four schools then, but rapidly growing school district in South Jersey that had been founded by Quakers 300 plus years ago at that time and was still heavily influenced by their moral values, not to mention that a lot of Quakers were on the school board. He found out it’s not nice to screw your female teachers. He was asked to resign.
My mom got $180. child support bi-weekly, a lot of money in ’68, and my dad was only ever able to get a principals job down at the Jersey shore, sixty miles from where we lived.
Do your worst Donald. Hillary is more than a match for you. She’ll chew your ass up and spit you out.

Why are they letting him have so much time to speak? What happened to the two minute rule?
Lester needs to step in and and tell him to zip it, cut him off, turn to Clinton and let her talk.
Why is he being allowed to run on and on and she is not being given the same consideration?
