There’s an anecdote, perhaps apocryphal, about Harry Truman. Truman’s people brought him new figures showing that crime had increased in the country.

His advisers couldn’t understand Truman’s equanimity in the face of these statistics. They said, “But Mr. President, there’s more crime!”

Truman said, “Of course there is. There’s more people.”

Trump could learn a lot from this anecdote. But he wouldn’t.

Kent Price: You seem unaware that there are Protestant, Jewish and Catholic religious courts in the U.S. These courts handle conflicts between believers of those respective faiths. Muslim religious courts do the same thing.

Participation is voluntary. Submission to religious law is itself voluntary. And the U.S. Constitution, along with federal law, continues to be the supreme law of the land – any decisions by religious courts must yield to constitutional guarantees. This has been going on likely since the Founding, and certainly for many, many decades.

Yet no one is clamoring for Jewish and Catholic religious courts to be barred. Only when it comes to Muslims do people get exercised.

Wonder why that is?
