Kent Price: You seem unaware that there are Protestant, Jewish and Catholic religious courts in the U.S. These courts handle conflicts between believers of those respective faiths. Muslim religious courts do the same thing.

Participation is voluntary. Submission to religious law is itself voluntary. And the U.S. Constitution, along with federal law, continues to be the supreme law of the land – any decisions by religious courts must yield to constitutional guarantees. This has been going on likely since the Founding, and certainly for many, many decades.

Yet no one is clamoring for Jewish and Catholic religious courts to be barred. Only when it comes to Muslims do people get exercised.

Wonder why that is?

The National Guard is the modern version of the “militia” of the Constitution. Many states had laws allowing state confiscation of private arms for the use of the militia if the militia was short of guns. In fact, private citizens were considered to be holding their arms “in trust” for militia use if need be.
