Either Caputo was being very snarky or he’s showing off just how stupid he is. Is this jackass not aware that Crete and Mykonos are ISLANDS? Both are already major tourist destinations (and Crete alone has dozens of archaeological sites) and I’m sure they have plenty of corporations already paying for certain levels of branding.
On the other hand, perhaps Cavuto would answer what exactly all these corporations are achieving with all their “branding.” Their “sponsorships” don’t translate into the venues becoming profitable. It’d also be interesting to know why these corporations aren’t asked to actually, you know, BUILD all these venues. Many (if not most) of the venues were built with TAXPAYER money, only to have some corporation to come along months after the site’s opened and pay a small fraction of the original cost to get its name on the place.
Hell, watch the college bowl games—with all those grand corporate names attached—and see how many of those “corporate sponsors” are the SOLE “sponsors” of the games. The game may be called the “State Farm Boring-as-Hell Bowl Game” but the TV ads include ads from car companies, beer companies, etc.

I will acknowledge that the FoxNoise crew’s attack on his flip-flop is truly ironic, given their undying support of Romney.
And newzhound, exactly what are you smoking? Or what pills are you taking? FoxNoise give Obama credit for anything? You’ve got to be kidding. They couldn’t even credit him with taking down bin Laden (at least, not unless Dubya and Cheney got credit for “laying the groundwork” or unless Seal Team Six got the lion’s share of the credit for the actual kill and taking all the real risk; IF those conditions were met, then they GRUDGINGLY gave Obama credit). You might have noticed the FoxNoise crew haven’t exactly credited Obama for the recent drop in gas prices (although it was entirely Obama’s fault for the rise in prices) and you might have also noticed that, despite recent employment gains, the FoxNoise crew haven’t given credit to Obama for that.

About those polls, you really should know that GOPers never bother with polls that show the slightest disagreement with their current talking point. They do, however, jump on ANY poll—no matter how unscientific or how thoroughly unreliable it may be—if it supports their talking point. (And, if you can’t find a poll that actually does back up your talking point, just take a poll that COMPLETELY contradicts your talking point and reword it or “selectively edit” it so it DOES match your talking point.)

Mj, I’m not sure where Keller gets his history lesson, but the first century and a half of American journalism was INTENSELY partisan and would make today’s “journalists” (well, at least, those employed by the Murdoch organizations) incredibly envious of the level of sheer venom and bile dispensed by newspapers at their targets and absorbed with relish by those papers’ readers. Remember the attacks on Grover Cleveland in 1884 (“Ma, ma, where’s my pa?”—based on allegations of siring an illegitimate child) as well as Thomas Nast’s entire output against Boss Tweed?
Journalism as a whole only became relatively neutral or non-partisan after WWII (the McCarthy era notwithstanding) and didn’t really change until the late 1980s after the Reagan Administration abolished the Fairness Doctrine, when extreme right-wingers became freer to get their views out through radio and television stations without the “unnecesary” restriction of requiring a “balance” be presented on what was broadcast (ie, a station that promoted a bill requiring looser controls for handgun ownership was previously required to permit someone opposing that bill; without the Fairness Doctrine, the station could now have dozens of people supporting looser handgun ownership and not let a single voice of opposition be heard).
So, basically, that “non-partisan” journalism thrived for about 40 years. (And wasn’t it about a decade ago when the Times was one of the backers of that whole “George and Dick’s Funtime in Iraq” story? And wasn’t the Times right there attacking the people who opposed that little adventure and piling in on calling them “traitors”? When exactly did the Times return to being “neutral”?)

Michael, when the Fox & Friends group themselves tend to emulate the Taliban’s philosophy*, they can’t really cry foul when others skewer their behavior.
*The only real difference between Fox & Friends and the Taliban is that the F&F women aren’t covered head to toe in a shapeless burqa. (Quite the contrary, the F&F women are specially groomed and clothed to make the network’s male viewers keep watching them—that doesn’t mean the guys are LISTENING to them.) But when you look at the Taliban’s philosophy, it matches up pretty squarely with the BS coming from F&F.

Christopher, AIM (allegedly standing for “Accuracy in Media”) is a far-right organization which purports to “correct” news media items which present an “unrealistic” view (if not an outright “liberally biased” view). In other words, their “accuracy” is based solely on a checklist of specific right-wing talking points and how well the media in question—TV, radio, print journalism or websites—presents those talking points.
They’re not concerned about REAL “accuracy in media” as that would tend to put all the right-wing lies, distortions and half-truths on full display. No, their sole concern is keeping the hard-core right-wing extremists (the ones who tend to actually vote in primary elections) indoctrinated with the “correct” talking points.

“The Democrats flogged Hoover for 30 years.” Really? Can anyone show where JFK, while running for President in 1960, invoked the spectre of Hoover as some sort of boogeyman, especially as the US had been led by a GOPer?
Or, better yet, to what “30 years” is Craphamster referring? Hoover left office in 1933 (and his re-election campaign had been one of the most dictatorial campaigns ever run by the GOP leaders who refused to allow for any concerns about Hoover’s leadership to be raised on the floor) and, while his relationship with FDR was very strained, he was selected by Truman to reorganize the executive departments (a little thing known as the Hoover Commission). Hoover’s image has been hit harder since his death (in 1964) than it ever was during his post-Presidency lifetime (though a lot of the criticism he received was due to his own obstinancy as well as his own inflated self-image; the man actually believed the people who voted him out of office were little more than ingrates).

Would somebody PLEASE remind Dennis Miller that he’s NOT funny? He was barely tolerable on SNL and, rather tellingly, his only real “character” on that show was as “host” of “Weekend Update,” the show’s comedic news bit. And even there, he relied on someone else’s comedy; he simply delivered the joke—he was NEVER one of the show’s writers. (I blame Lorne Michaels for ever giving this schmuck a break. If it hadn’t been for Michaels, Miller would be lucky to still be playing comedy clubs.)

I’m not really sure how the Dutch handle stripping someone of their citizenship, but Wilders really needs to be deemed persona non grata with the Kingdom. While he likes to describe himself as some sort of “prophet,” warning about the “evils of radical Islam,” he fails to grasp the idea that HE is likely to be as responsible for “radical Islamists” (especially in the Netherlands) as any “extremist” mullah in a mosque.
Humans are basically animals and, if you’ve ever been somewhere that there’s a desperate animal, it’s liable to attack. Wilders and his Islamophobic associates don’t want to work with moderate Muslims to keep the Netherlands’ tradition of tolerance of ALL religions. No, Wilders and his haters treat even the most moderate Muslims—the ones who moved to the Netherlands to flee persecution in their own homelands—as though they’ve bombed churches and synagogues (and why do I get the feeling that Wilders would be targeting Jews if there were no Muslims to persecutre?) and setting up the “Caliphate” and unjustly persecuting good Dutch Christians and Jews. Then, when Muslims start acting out in “radical” ways, Wilders uses that as some sort of proof that his ideas need to be heeded.
So, basically, for the good of all Dutch citizens (or is it subjects?—never really sure with monarchies), Wilders needs to be exiled for HIS radical ideas. (Maybe if the German government had deported Hitler back to Austria after his participation in that little incident in Munich, the Nazi Party would’ve never amounted to anything more than the minor nuisance it was before 1923.)

mj—Now, you’re not keeping up with the latest news bulletins from Oceania (aka FoxNoise). Obamacare is not now, nor has it ever been, related to Gov Romney’s health care measure. And, even more, Gov Romney never supported that program anyway—it was forced on him by those “Taxachusetts librul Dumbocrats” who would’ve simply overridden the Governor’s veto. Therefore, the Governor decided to turn the tables and not allow his enemies to gloat over a legislative victory.
At least, that’s going to be the official line from Oceania until Romney loses in November (at which point, Romney will be personally blamed for introducing Obamacare to the nation—especially if the Supreme Court upholds the ACA’s constitutionality).

I’d certainly appreciate it if Congressman War Criminal would let us all know when the GOPbaggers EVER offered a serious proposal to make a fairer tax code. None of their actions since Jan 2011 have shown they’re even the least bit concerned about changing the tax code to help those who pay taxes and are eligible to vote (the latter point kicks the idea of corporate personhood to the curb—unfortunately, it’s the corporations who’ve been helped the most by the GOPbaggers).
I’d like to see the Constitution amended so that military people who leave the service with any type of blotch on their record are prohibited from holding political office for no less than 10 years from separating from the service. With this type of law in effect, we wouldn’t have to see animals like this war criminal. (I’d be even happier if folks like Cong War Criminal were disenfranchised. There are a lot of them who’ve served their full prison terms and have been released but face so many hurdles in getting their voting rights restored, but along comes the War Criminal and he gets elected to Congress where he sucks off the very government teat that he so hates.)

Well, I’d certainly have to agree with that last sentence. Now, I just need to know one little thing: Is Gutfeld a vegetarian or an animal rights advocate? If not, his statement is just stupid. (I’d say “hypocritical,” but saying hypocritical things is part and parcel of being a FoxNoise host or contributor.)
I’d also like to know Gutfeld’s opinion on using “pets” as lab experiments. Granted, labs don’t usually use actual pets, but they’ve been known to use dogs and cats (typically strays) for all kinds of “research.” I’m of the opinion that those animals (even the “non-pet” types—like monkeys and mice) aren’t fond of having chemicals injected into them.

Kind of funny (in a really sick, twisted, right-wing way) that, if a report about Cuba came out that the people have to resort to a diet of beans and rice, the horde of FoxNoise bobbleheads would be showing this as “evidence” that Communism doesn’t really work. But let hungry Americans be forced to resort to such a diet, well, the bobbleheads don’t see any real problem since “real Americans” will hunker down and make do with what they’ve got in order to survive.
(Even funnier, if a group of vegans tried to promote a “beans and rice” diet as healthy, the bobbleheads would be chastising them for trying to impose something other than the “real American” meal of meat and potatoes. Yeah, technically, it’s “steak and potatoes,” but given the current economy, I kind of think many less affluent Americans are resorting to “meat”—no particular cut, not even a particular type, but rather a hodgepodge of different meats and cuts of meat that make bologna look like prime rib.)
