Fox News Sunday Debates “Hypothetical” Damage To Obama From Supreme Court Rulings On Arizona Immigration Law And Health Care Mandate

Posted by Ellen -7849.80pc on April 30, 2012 · Flag

On yesterday’s Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace seemed to take it as a given that the Supreme Court will rule against the Obama administration in both the health care mandate and the Arizona immigration law cases. So he opened the panel discussion segment by asking “how damaging” such rulings would be to Obama’s re-election efforts.

Wallace noted in his introduction that “court watchers say it’s always dangerous to read too much into the questions the Justices ask and therefore to predict how they’re going to rule.” But that didn’t stop him from adding that “there was a widespread perception” that the Supreme Court “did not think that much” of the Obama administration’s argument against the Arizona immigration law “just as they seemed skeptical of the President’s Obama Care, at least in the individual mandate.”

Wallace continued, “Let’s present a hypothetical: How damaging to the President, if in June the Court were to rule that this former Constitutional law professor/President was on the wrong side of the Constitution both on the Arizona law and on ObamaCare?”

Wallace never presented the option that Obama might win even one of the cases.

mj—Now, you’re not keeping up with the latest news bulletins from Oceania (aka FoxNoise). Obamacare is not now, nor has it ever been, related to Gov Romney’s health care measure. And, even more, Gov Romney never supported that program anyway—it was forced on him by those “Taxachusetts librul Dumbocrats” who would’ve simply overridden the Governor’s veto. Therefore, the Governor decided to turn the tables and not allow his enemies to gloat over a legislative victory.

At least, that’s going to be the official line from Oceania until Romney loses in November (at which point, Romney will be personally blamed for introducing Obamacare to the nation—especially if the Supreme Court upholds the ACA’s constitutionality).

Wallace never presented the option that Obama might win even one of the cases.

Nor did he explore the possibility that losing the Health Care Mandate ruling could be just as damaging to ROMNEY as it would be to Obama — seeing as it was Romney’s idea first, and all . . .

It’s never a good idea to opine about what the Supreme Court MIGHT rule before they issue their results. Many times, the justices play devil’s advocate and will test the attorneys presenting their cases. Even Scalia has done this with conservative attorneys who assumed he would just rule for them without question.

We’ll all know what the Supreme Court thinks when they issue their rulings. Fox News and right wing talk radio just want to see if they can get their base fired up about defeating President Obama any way they can. Their reliance on this and character assassination across the board indicates that they don’t have a lot of confidence in their candidate. Which doesn’t bode well for them in this election. But we’ll just have to see what happens. Who knows? Maybe the SC will rule the way the right wing wants. Maybe Romney will be able to win the election. Either way, we won’t know for some time.
