@Aria: I’d guess that Stine doesn’t know much about lesbians if he thinks a show about “loose lesbian women” would have anything to do with “moral women becoming whores that sleep with 15 men a day the second they become Democrats.” Regardless of political affiliation, the lesbians that I’ve known* don’t want to sleep with any men. (On a slightly related note, I thought that Ann Coulter slept with 15 men a day and, somehow, managed to remain a Republicon.)
*Admittedly, I’ve never known any LUGs, so maybe there are some Young Republican college lesbians who later became Democrats and started sleeping with large numbers of men.

On the VERY long shot that Frothy Mixture should become President, one can only hope that Mrs Frothy Mixture will be in complete and total control of dealing with the Press, Congressional Democrats, and foreign dignitaries. If Frothy could make such an idiotic comment (over a NON-existent statement), just imagine what could happen if he made an inane comment in a SERIOUS situation (such as the G8 meeting or in front of the UN).

I have to wonder exactly HOW foisting a cross upon the public is a reflection of “JUDEO-Christian” values? Yes, yes, according to the Christian mythology, Jesus was born to a Jewish virgin, and was raised as a Jew (granted, this part tends to be obfuscated or blatantly ignored by certain parts of the Christian community but it doesn’t make it untrue), and died on a cross with a sign reading “King of the Jews.” But, the simple fact is that Jews—the “Judeo” part of “Judeo-Christian”—do NOT acknowledge the cross or crucifix as a symbol for their worship services, and while the Magen David is recognized as a symbol of Judaism, Jews don’t treat it as a “holy” symbol; if anything, Jews treat it more as a sign of community, sort of the way early Christians used the fish.
Also, TRUE Judeo-Christian values (emphasis on the “Christian” part) don’t feel a need to impose anything on anyone. A REAL Christian seeks willing converts—people who truly WANT to accept Christian doctrines and values. It’s Christians who either are weak in their own faith or have no true faith that want to impose their beliefs on others who feel Christianity is not for them.
(As an aside, it’s worth noting that crucifixion was a capital punishment doled out to thousands of criminals during the Roman era; in fact, as the tale goes, Spartacus and his band of rebel slaves were crucified—nearly a full century before Jesus’s slightly more famous crucifixion. And doesn’t the very use of a cross as a symbol of worshipping Jesus seem just the least bit creepy? Then again, the Communion ceremony—with its cannibalism overtones—is a bit creepy when you think about it.)

Greta doesn’t have any credibility at all. Considering she made a big fuss over Louis C.K.‘s planned appearance at the Congressional Correspondents Dinner over Louis C.K.’s “misogyny.” Remind us all again, Greta, of your position on what Limbaugh (and your FoxNoise co-worker, Bill O’Reilly) said about Sandra Fluke. For some reason, I don’t recall Greta’s offering any criticism—much less, demand punishment—of Limbaugh or O’Reilly. And, I don’t recall reading anything, but did Greta condemn her female FoxNoise co-workers, Megyn Kelly and Monica Crowley, when THEY joined in all the misogyny? (Or does Greta let women get away with making misogynistic comments?)

You mean “challenged” in the way that you and your little FoxNoise cohorts “challenge” Republicons and other right-wingers? Why, I can’t possibly imagine any reason why Ms Fluke should ever want to go on a show that announces its intention to “challenge” her when she can do the right-wing thing and visit friendly hosts.

@Ronnie Rife: Please remind me when ANY liberal/progressive person used “the lame excuse I was just trying to be funny or I misspoke” when apologizing for a slur. This “lame excuse” is SOLELY the province of “conservatives” (who, incidentally, have mastered the art of the non-apology—you know, the one that features “if anyone felt offended”).
Most of the liberals/progressives who apologize for slurs do so, primarily because they face 24/7 attacks FROM THE RIGHT for daring to replicate the very things that the “conservatives” have been doing for years. OTOH, when a liberal/progressive apologizes, he doesn’t go about it either half-hearted or half-assed.

Nothing that came from Breitbart’s ass—I mean, mouth—was out-of-bounds as far as the FoxNoise folks were concerned. I’m pretty sure they agreed with nearly every single thing he said and did.
So, to act all surprised over the whitewashing is a bit of naivety on display. I won’t grieve his death any more than I did when Reagan or Falwell died.

@Alex: Fair enough, but I stand by everything I wrote.
I also find it a bit ironic that our comments must be tempered but there are other postings that talk about how Breitbart’s record is being “sanitized.” If Breitbart’s record needs to be “sanitized” (and that is worth not one, but two, posting, then it seems that there really shouldn’t have been anything considered beyond the pale.
And, given the right-wing hate-filled commentary following Ted Kennedy’s death, only allowing “nice” comments over Breitbart’s death simply furthers the notion that progressives and liberals are nothing but wimps. (And considering some of the right-wing’s attacks on Barack Obama and his family—and I mean the truly vile, hate-filled comments—I, for one, am tired of playing “Mr Nice Guy” when it comes to the right. If they can dish it out, they need to put on their big-boy pants and accept it when it comes back their way.)

Ah, ah, ah. Now you’re forgetting one very important fact: That ONLY applies when THEIR boy is in charge. (Yes, I’m aware of the potentially racially-charged term I used. The right-wingers would NEVER use such a phrase to refer to one of their own but would claim “no disrespect intended” if they “slipped up” and referred to Pres Obama that way.)

But, Library Lady, that doesn’t explain the conservatives who DO exist in Hollywood. I’ve not read anything that suggested Kelsey Grammer is doing anything more than being (in Stine’s terms) “schizophrenic” when he appears in shows like “Cheers,” “Frasier,” or his current cable show, “Boss.” Is there something about Grammer that makes him different from his more liberal acting brethren? (For crying out loud, Grammer endorsed Bachmann’s candidacy. Okay—that might be genuine proof of Grammer’s “schizophrenia.” But I digress….)
Or what about Tom Selleck? I wasn’t aware that Selleck REALLY worked as a private investigator (Magnum PI) or was a real ophthalmologist (Friends) or lived with a couple of other men and raised a daughter (Three Men and a Baby).
Now, I’ll grant that some conservative-leaning actors probably ARE a bit “schizophrenic” (Stephen Baldwin, Chuck Norris, Jon Voight) but Stine really needs to inform us of when and where he earned his degree in psychiatry or psychology (schizophrenia is a mental illness that can ONLY be diagnosed by a legitimate medical practitioner—the last three words least likely to apply to Stine).

And Priscilla, I’d say that the LGBT community is among those who don’t have much love for Dolan since he was at the forefront of the religious right’s opposition to New York’s extending marriage equality. (Pretty much anytime there’s a suggestion that the LGBT community be treated as having “equal rights under the law,” Dolan’s sure to oppose it, usually with some strawman argument that the proposal will infringe on “religious freedom.” Incidentally, I say “strawman argument,” you say “outright lie,” it’s all pretty much the same thing. Dolan’s playing fast and loose with one of God’s Big Ten.)

@Aunty Em: Thanks for that. My only previous exposure to the “slowly I turned” bit was on “I Love Lucy” when she’s trying to horn in on Ricky’s planned vaudeville show. The slapstick is a bit different there—the danger word there was the name “Martha” and Lucy is only hit with some kind of punching bag, spritzed with water and ends up with a face full of pie—but still funny; it’s actually even funnier at the end of the show after Lucy gets called to fill in at the show (she’s supposed to fill in for a ballet dancer but thinks she’s doing the comedy piece—all while Ricky’s singing a song called “Martha” and the other dancers, and eventually, Ricky become the skit’s “stranger with the kind face”).
The first bit is at YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwSiQQJ-IoI ) but for the final bit you probably have to watch the whole episode, “The Ballet.”
