O’Reilly Not Sure Whether Obama Thinks America Is A ‘Bad Nation’
Is there anything more hypocritical and disingenuous than Fox News talking heads whining about other people not loving America? Is there an hour that goes by on Fox without laying hate on Democrats, liberals, President Obama, the media, any combination thereof and/or others? I don’t think so. That’s bad enough. But Fox’ Ralph Peters can’t seem to go on the air without longing to see someone killed, whether it’s Edward Snowden, a U.S soldier captured by the Taliban (whom Peters suspected of deserting his unit), or war journalists. Yet Bill O’Reilly – putting aside temporarily his race baiting against African Americans - listened to Peters blame America and President Obama for making Bradley Manning hate America enough to leak thousands of classified documents to Wikileaks and only expressed a doubt as to whether or not Obama really hates America, too.
Read moreRush Limbaugh Takes Over On The Record
If you’re a regular On The Record watcher you know that the show frequently begins with a clip from Rush Limbaugh, even though Fox likes to tout host Greta Van Susteren as their liberal commentator. But on Tuesday (7/30/13), On The Record outdid itself with “balancing” Van Susteren’s liberal views: an entire hour of Limbaugh. Given how few questions Van Susteren asked, how she failed to challenge the conservative hate coming out of his mouth, it must have been like Christmas in July for Fox viewers. Think the “fair and balanced” network will be hosting Michael Moore or Jesse Jackson or Randi Rhodes for a full hour of spouting off on prime time? Don’t make me laugh!
Read moreTodd Starnes' Newest Whine: Pro-Muslim, Anti-Christian Bias In High School History Text Suggests 'War on Christianity'
File under the "what else [and where else] is new" category, "Fox radio screamer" Todd Starnes' newest bit of hyperventilation about alleged creeping Sharia in a Florida high school world history text which, according to Starnes, is anti-Christian and OMG pro-Muslim. The meme that librul texts are promoting Islam and dissing Jesus is nothing new in the right wing screamer community and has been advanced on Fox & Friends where Steve Doocy validated the concerns of a creationist TX Board of Education member, Cynthia Dunbar, about pro-Islam, anti-Christian bias in a Texas text. Thus, it wasn't surprising to see Starnes, on Tuesday's Fox & Friends, advance a Florida *dwarf toss supporting legislator's accusation that a Florida advanced placement world history text is OMG pro-Islam and anti-Christian. While Fox & Friends, in advancing Fox's oh, so popular Islamophobia, framed the segment as "The Trouble With Schools," it should have been titled "We Don't Need No Education!"
Read moreFox News Regular: I Would Cast Philip Seymour Hoffman To Play Hillary Clinton In Upcoming Film
On the July30 America Live, conservative radio host and regular guest Chris Plante discussed an upcoming Hillary Clinton miniseries on NBC Entertainment. As Media Matters has noted, the series raises serious concerns about a conflict of interest with NBC News’ coverage of Mrs. Clinton, especially since the miniseries' timing has not been determined and, therefore, could air after she has declared her presidential candidacy. But Plante chose the low road to criticizing the film by making a nasty crack about Clinton’s looks – and then took a dig at Monica Lewinsky’s for good measure.
Read moreKirsten Powers Confronts O’Reilly’s B.S. About Black-On-Black Crime
Apparently, Bill O’Reilly is having a tough time dealing with the pushback to his nightly attacks on African Americans. Last night, he laughably announced on the air to an absent Al Sharpton, "Your day is done!" Tonight, he railed against a scathing editorial by the New Haven Register and hinted he'd sic ambush stalker Jesse Watters on the paper if they don't apologize. Proof again, as if you need it, that Fox News bullies can’t stomach what they make millions dishing out. Tonight, poor Bill also got an earful from Fox News Democrat Kirsten Powers.
Read moreJuan Williams Leaps To Defend Bill O’Reilly’s Race Baiting
Fox News has come under some well-deserved fire for its shameless and shameful race baiting of late. In a sign that the “fair and balanced” (and lily-white) network is feeling the heat – and can’t take the kind of criticism they make their money dishing out - there’s been a lot of whining going on from the race-baiters in chief, Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly. Now comes Fox News African American Juan Williams to the race-baiting rescue. Just pay no attention to Williams’ own checkered history on the subject.
Read moreShannon Bream Advances Right Wing Christian Attack On Reza Aslan
There are books, written by authors of various and no religious affiliations, about Jesus as there are books about other religions written by Christians. But now that a Muslim has authored a book, placing Jesus in the historical context of a very volatile Judea under a brutal Roman regime, the Christian right is having a collective freak out, claiming that the supposed anti-Christian bias of his book stems from his religion. Fox jumped onboard the bandwagon with Lauren Green's question, during her interview with Reza Aslan about his new biography of Jesus, as to why a Muslim would write about Jesus. Aslan took umbrage with this and has criticized Fox on other networks. Not surprisingly, the Islam bashing Fox news is defending Green and attacking Aslan whose big sin is his denial of Jesus' divinity. That, of course, isn't the case as Aslan is merely exploring Jesus' historical context. And in any history, the faith of the author is irrelevant*. Today, on the supposed "news" show, "America Live," Shannon Bream and right wing Catholic Brent Bozell worked some primo Fox propaganda in trashing Aslan, the credibility of Muslim writers, and, drum roll please, the librul media. Sweet.
Read moreShannon Bream, Mike Gallagher Scoff At African-American Concerns Over High School 'Redneck Day'
Fox News never wastes an opportunity to accuse the African-American community of playing the victim with bogus complaints about discrimination. Yet, Fox News provides a platform for countless Christians who are making bogus complaints about how badly they are being treated. Last week, one of Fox's stable of bubble-headed bleached blondes giving us "dirty laundry" on America Live (offical news program), Shannon Bream, hosted a discussion about the silliness of complaints, against an Arizona school, over "Redneck Day," an event which included a student sporting a Confederate flag cape. Concerns about the whole affair have prompted a federal investigation which Bream, and her right wing guest, Mike Gallagher (he who wants Muslims profiled) think is a waste of taxpayer money which should be spent on getting to the bottom of -drum roll please - Benghazi!!!!!
Read moreChris Hayes' Devastating Spoof Of Fox News Race Baiting: It's Time For White People To Speak Out Against The Ills Of White Culture!
MSNBC's Chris Hayes may well have done THE ultimate takedown last night of Fox News' race baiting disguised as concern trolling. Based on an equally terrific post at Gawker by Jefferson Cord, Hayes and guest Cord satirically exposed the "white criminal culture" and demanded white people face up to the problem and take action! Must see TV - and we've got the video after the jump.
Read moreAlan Colmes: Hannity And Limbaugh Not Leaving Talk Radio
Alan Colmes, a veteran of talk radio before he ever landed at Fox News, has some words for liberals who think that the recent news of Cumulus Media dropping Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh means they're on their way into oblivion: not so. What's really happening, Colmes argues persuasively, is an adjustment of how their shows are distributed.
