You know that the Democrats' accusation that Republicans were waging a war on women must have been a success because Fox Nation and the New York Post were willing to twist themselves into a pretzel using Anthony Weiner's mayoral candidacy to accuse the Democrats of waging a war on women. Well, to be fair, it wasn't just Weiner but Elliot Spitzer and some other New York City politicians. But, of course, poor treatment of women is not just a Democratic problem. Nor is it what anybody was saying the war on women was about.
Perhaps it's no surprise that the article, which was written by a man, got the "war on women" all wrong. It's the policy, stupid. Policy that made guys like Todd Akin talk about legitimate rape as his grounds to oppose abortion, Richard Mourdock call pregnancies that result from rapes a "gift from God" that should not be terminated and, of course, Rush Limbaugh's personalized attack on Sandra Fluke after she advocated for health insurance coverage of contraception - and echoed by none other than Fox News' own Bill O'Reilly.
Meanwhile, there are quite a few guys right there among the Fox News faves who have committed just the kinds of transgressions that the Post and Fox Nation was complaining about in Democrats: Newt Gingrich, Mark Sanford (both former Fox contributors, after their misdeeds) and Bill O'Reilly, to name a few.
You won’t find our women complaining about anything … they know what would happen!
