I know that the right wing was trying to ‘defend’ marriage by excluding gay unions. But now King would like to exclude even more people from marriage? Its a sort of “we must destroy marriage in order to save it,” kind of logic.

I heard a millenial use this phrase recently when the subject of blaming others came up. Her elderly Fox watching Grandpa said he’d never heard the phrase. We had a good laugh as she explained it to him.

I was invited to attend a private Memorial Day ceremony arranged by a neighborhood group. I was very curious as to what I would find there. There were patriotic songs, a bugler, a young soldier for the flag raising, poems and brief speeches. I had to wonder if my 20 yo son would suddenly want to join the military after hearing all that soaring patriotic fervor. (He did not).

The speeches went well, providing a little history of Memorial Day, and fallen soldiers. It was nice for most of the event. Unfortunately toward the end there was also a call for renewed war in the Middle East, disparaging comments about lying politicians “who don’t love America” and a claim that the USA is a Christian nation. (Afterward my right-wing friend felt the need to point out to me that this was a reference to Obama) I’m sure most of those attending this gated community event were fine with those sentiments, but to me it was a disturbing and divisive thing to bring religion and politics into an otherwise nice community event.

HUME: “a lot of people who are not really making attempts to be fair-minded observers.” LOL

But even after his attempt to clarify, Bush wasn’t clear at all about how he felt about the idea to invade. He seemed more concerned that once the invasion began it was handled poorly.

I’m sure this was probably the last ‘Draw the Prophet’ that will ever be hosted within any city limits. I just can’t imagine any city issuing a permit for an event that’s going to draw terrorists to their city.

I hope if Geller hosts another one of these conferences, that she is prepared to be martyred for her cause—which is (I guess)—the freedom to cartoon religious figures. It’s not a cause most people would choose to die for. Hey Geller—way to put the people in danger dummy.

So gays should sympathize with a group that wants to discriminate against gays but legally can’t do so, and feels that not being legally allowed to discriminate is a form of persecution. This woman is a gibbering fool.

How do you turn such a mild comment into a worldwide attack on Christians? This is the kind if thing a preacher might say to inspire the flock to be more loving. I can see why she feels so defensive about it, and she should.

With a large percentage of Christian religions accepting gay marriage, this is obviously NOT a clear-cut Christian issue at all. It is a denominational issue.

There are people whose faith tells them there should be no organ music in church, do those people refuse to sell wedding goods to people of the organ music persuasion? It may not seem like a big deal, but one religion actually split in two over it.

Hypocrisy is pretending that this one issue of gay marriage is so definitive of Christianity that normal rules don’t apply—when it clearly isn’t so.

I’d really love to see Megyn bring in a couple of the Indiana legislators who voted for this law and ask them about their motivations for this law. It’d be great to hear them talk about how they have protected the rights of Muslim women to wear head scarves or the Jewish people who don’t want to work on the Sabbath. Unless Megyn is wildly mischaracterizing the intent of the law, and no legislator would want to make such claims, she should be happy to prove that her take on the law is true and not just B.S.

I’m sure there will now be endless hearings on this matter in Congress. Another hunt for missing information that isn’t missing. In a related note: I saw an interview with Mitch McConnell on CNN in which he proudly proclaimed that he doesn’t use a gov email account because he has never in his life sent an email! It’s not clear if he even understands what email is, but it was clear that he is very proud of himself nonetheless.

My racist wing relatives are eating up this ‘story.’ I used to try to engage them about the information they weren’t getting from distraction stories like this. But they are so hopelessly uninformed that its just not possible to discuss anything they haven’t seen on Fox. If I mention it I’ll just get a blank look with the comment “I haven’t seen that.” They don’t even bother to try saying “that’s not true,” anymore. They know they are not getting the whole truth and that’s how they like it.

Leaving out, almost all the information about this story that might inform the viewer, Fox sticks to its winning formula of fear mongering, insults and verbal attacks on the president. It must be really hard coming up with fresh insults each day. Fox is merely a cult of hatred at this point.

How embarrassing, Graham can’t name any of these Muslim advisors. I’m concerned that even though Bill rightly suggests that they have every right to be involved in government, he still would like to publicize their names to his loony tunes audience.

Tom Dean: If one only listens to the right wing news sources-rather than the president’s actual speeches- it WOULD seem as if Pres. Obama has done nothing but criticize the USA since he became president. In fact, I have heard him say many wonderful things about his country, and the fact that it is only in the USA that he could aspire to the presidency. But in order to hear these things, your wife would have to want to listen and make up her own mind.

Bill needs to read up on the definition of holy war. Holy Wars are fought by two radical and opposing theologies or in defense of a particular faith. The USA, a nation made up of many faith groups, simply can’t engage in a holy war. But maybe Fox is advocating for theocracy after all. This is silly nonsense. I hope they get a new news meme going tomorrow, the “Obama won’t blame Islam” meme seems thoroughly played out.

Stewart makes people laugh and O’Reilly enrages them. So it’s just a little different. Sometimes O’Reilly makes us laugh, but laughing at someone is different than laughing with them. This segment doesn’t prove liberal media bias but it does show us that O’Reilly still wants to be Most Popular Boy at school. Thanks for the laughs O’Reilly!
