Former Fox Newsman Turned Papal PR Man Pimps Catholic Church's Awesomeness
The Vatican obviously knew what it was doing when it hired former Fox News journalist, Greg Burke, to be its PR man. In discussing the upcoming papal election with Martha MacCallum, Burke showed us that his Fox News ability to provide biased coverage is a transferable skill. Opus Dei member Burke and fellow Catholic Martha MacCallum, whose face positively glowed with excitement about the new pope, chatted about the awesomeness of the upcoming Conclave and the Cardinals in attendance. And in keeping with the apparent Fox News policy of saying only positive things about the Church, there was no mention of the fact that almost all of these wonderful American cardinals have taken some serious sexual abuse baggage to Rome and that the Italian media (who must be as anti-Catholic as Fox says the American media is) feels that their Conclave presence is an "embarrassment." In his ability to obfuscate reality, former Fox News reporter Burke, who self flaggelates, is a perfect Vatican front man!

Saturday’s Cavuto on Business focused on unions standing up to Walmart and causing a reconsideration of its plan to open a store in New York City. It could’ve been bought and paid for by Wal-Mart what with all the de facto spokespeople rhapsodizing about the big-box retailer. As for the small businesses who might have been driven out? “Ma and Pa need to get over it,” panelist and Fox Business Anchor Dagen McDowell scolded.

While the world awaits the new pope, the reality based media, in reporting on the newsworthy problems faces by today's Catholic Church, cites the systemic and global sexual abuse problem which has eroded the credibility of the Church, especially in the US. They also cite declining Church membership and attendance. The Church's problems relating to women, who ignore birth control teaching, and liberal nuns who are being investigated by the Vatican are also mentioned. Vatican secrecy and Vatican leaks are cited. But not on Fox News, which seems happy to carry the Vatican's holy water. Apart from scant references to Catholic "scandals," Fox coverage of the upcoming papal election is sunny and happy with lot of talk about how Fox fave, Cardinal Dolan, is so papabile! And as part of the coverage, some Fox Catholics (and they are legion) have been chastising the evil, anti-Catholic media for saying bad things about a Church for which Fox "News" provides some sweet PR!

On Special Report last week, the Wall Street Journal’s Jason Riley responded to the suspension of public tours of the White House. He said, “It is ridiculous. It is unfortunate… The stunts he’s (the President) pulling here - from releasing illegal immigrants from detention centers, talk about air traffic controller shortages, teacher layoffs. The President’s goal here is to inflict the maximum amount of pain as a result of these sequester cuts in order for the public to help pressure Republicans into agreeing to more tax hikes. We know that is his goal. And we know that every effort that the Republicans have made to try and ease the pain of these cuts, the White House has rejected.”

Ruh-roh! Curtis Hubbard, of the Denver Post, just set himself up for an ambush from Bill O'Reilly's journalistic hit man, Jesse Watters. Not only was Hubbard unamused by O'Reilly's vicious attacks on Colorado House Speaker Mark Ferrandino, he called out O'Reilly in a very blunt editorial that described the vilification of Ferrandino as "bigoted" and "fact-challenged." Among other things.
Read moreFox & Friends Does Interview With Teabagging Thomas Jefferson
Who knew that Thomas Jefferson supported the conservative views of today's Tea Party! The former president appeared on Friday's Fox & Friends to help celebrate Founding Father's Fridays, an event celebrated only on Fox & Friends. It would appear that over the years ole TJeff's political views have evolved. It's also apparent that he has forgotten some of his past positions; but as he's over 200 years old, that's to be expected. But wait, this Jefferson is an imposter who is only playing a role. And when he's not channeling our third president, Stephen McDowell is president of the Providence Institute, a "Christian educational organization whose mission is to train and network leaders to transform their culture for Christ" and Biblical World View University. He co-authored books on Christian Nationalism and was a co-founder, with faux historian David Barton, of Wallbuilders, a group dedicated to "educating the nation concerning the Godly foundation of our country." The real Jefferson who, in his version of the bible, excised all Jesus' miracles, must be rolling in his grave!
Read moreFox News Rhapsodizes At Length over Rand Paul
Fox is obviously searching (more desperately than it will admit I think) for a knight in shining armor to come galloping out of the mist, sword aflame, and rally the people to save America from the commie dragon in the White House. Last month, after his prayer-breakfast speech, Dr. Ben Carson was the chief candidate for the shining armor. Then, this week, Senator Rand Paul spent 13 hours filibustering on the Senate floor (with maybe a few minutes’ time out for bathroom breaks) trying to get Attorney General Eric Holder to say that Obama administration wouldn’t use drones against US citizens on American soil. Thanks to this publicity stunt selfless service to America, Paul may be the new Top Knight, to judge by all the air time Fox News devoted to oohing and aahing over him in the following days.
Read moreLaura Ingraham Dishonestly Defends O’Reilly Calling Colmes A ‘Liar’
Early last week, Bill O’Reilly made a shocking attack on Alan Colmes over the sequester and called him a "liar" for correctly saying that President Obama has offered to make spending cuts. O’Reilly was so tyrannical and bullying that even John Stossel later told him he had been “obnoxious” and “out of line.” Kirsten Powers told O’Reilly, “You need to admit you’re wrong.” But Laura Ingraham, subbing for O’Reilly on Friday night (3/8/13), used the “Tip of the Day” segment to falsely argue that O’Reilly was correct. Even worse, she indirectly scolded Colmes by lecturing to her viewers, “When you prepare for a debate, have the facts on your side.” FoxNews.com echoed the message by calling the brief segment, Have the facts on your side when preparing for a debate. In reality, it's O'Reilly and Ingraham who don't have the facts on their side.
Read moreBill O'Reilly Cancels Crusade Against Gov. Cuomo?
As Bill O'Reilly considers himself to be the Pope of cable news, he, like medieval popes, feels it's his sacred duty to organize crusades (or are they jihads?) against those who don't agree with his particular world view (Despite his "Tip" about not forcing your views on others!) And when he speaks, his "folks," in heeding his call to arms, promptly harass and threaten those whom O'Reilly deems as infidels such as two state governors (Washington and RI) who didn't comply with O'Reilly's true meaning of Christmas and whose offices were inundated with calls and e-mails from O'Reilly's culture warriors. Starting in January, Bill took up the cross against NY Governor Andrew Cuomo because of his proposed legislation to strengthen and expand abortion rights and his failure to promote Bill's ongoing causus belli, Jessica's Law. In order to make sure that his crusaders made life miserable for Cuomo's staff, O'Reilly's home page had, among other things, a big, fat banner which linked to Cuomo's office phone and e-mail. Now it's gone. Cuomo hasn't backed down, so there's no victory. Whassup?!

On Cashin' In today, host Eric Bolling turned to Dr. Caroline Heldman for comments on the subject of wasteful spending at federal agencies. But he immediately smeared his guest - who also happened to be the only liberal on the panel - by referring to her as "Dr. McHottie."
