Fox News Panel Sings The Praises Of Income Inequality

Posted by Brian · February 24, 2012 5:25 PM · 3 reactions

Another example of Fox News pundits talking up the benefits of poverty. We know Foxies think the poor don’t pay their fair share of taxes and that they’ve already got more than enough social services. Last Saturday (2/18/12), the panelists on Bulls and Bears argued that income inequality in our country is a good thing. Of course, none of them seemed to be on the struggling end of that equation!

Brent Bozell’s Phony Analysis Of Oil Production

Posted by Ellen · February 24, 2012 2:17 PM · 7 reactions

Brent Bozell’s “Media Mash” segment about oil prices last night on Hannity was yet another instance where Bozell used accusations of bias against the rest of the media as a cover for promoting his own bias - in this case via statements that were both false and unfounded. Guest host Liz Cheney didn’t challenge a single misstatement.

Greta Van Susteren Enables Franklin Graham’s Holy War Against Obama

Posted by Ellen · February 24, 2012 1:39 AM · 4 reactions

Greta Van Susteren helped further Franklin Graham’s religious attacks on President Obama last night. This, just a few days after Graham announced on MSNBC that President Obama is a Muslim under Islamic law and just may be a secret Muslim. You may recall that Graham questioned the president’s birth certificate and “where he really stands” on Christianity during an ABC interview about a year ago. But Van Susteren gave Graham a pass on those outrageous remarks and, at the same time, fed him openings to criticize Obama for not doing enough, especially in Iran, to help Christians in various conflicts against Muslims.

Hannity Disappointed NRA's Ermey Apologized For Urging People "Rise Up" Against Obama

Posted by Ellen · February 23, 2012 7:04 PM · 3 reactions

Despite his absence, Sean Hannity did his part for the Hannity hatriotism hour last night when, during a pre-recorded interview with NRA board member and actor R. Lee Ermey, he complained that Ermey should not have apologized for urging an audience to "rise up" against President Obama and stop his efforts to "destroy" the country with his "socialism." Hannity repeatedly praised Ermey, including calling him a "great American," and said, " I don't see what you have to be sorry about expressing your views."

Malkin Calls Obama A "Religious Menace"

Posted by Ellen · February 23, 2012 5:04 PM · 5 reactions

Hatriot Michelle Malkin was a vision of sneering sanctimony last night as she joined hatriot Monica Crowley for a segment full of animosity toward her president and any American who might support him. Predictably, it began with the two playing the conservative victim - or in this case putting up Rick Santorum as the conservative victim of the left's accusations that he attacked President Obama's religion. Rather than discuss whether or not Santorum HAD attacked Obama's religion (which I'll argue is pretty clear that he did), the two used that as a launching pad to - wait for it! - attack President Obama's religion.

Monica Crowley: Ted Nugent Would Be An Amazing Presidential Candidate

Posted by Ellen · February 23, 2012 1:30 PM · 10 reactions

Monica Crowley doesn’t just heart Ted Nugent and his sickening hate mongering. She wishes he would run for president. Yes, the guy who told then-candidate Barack Obama to “suck on my machine gun” and called Hillary Clinton “a worthless bitch” who should “ride into the sunset” on his machine gun is Crowley’s idea of a terrific candidate and, presumably, a great president.

Lou Dobbs Vs. The Lorax

Posted by Aria Prescott · February 23, 2012 12:10 PM · 4 reactions

For many people, Dr. Suess’ “The Lorax” is a timeless children’s classic. Environmental themes aside, the story is a wonderful soliloquy of two people on opposite ends of a discussion refusing to budge until both of them end up with nothing. But leave it to certain people not only to miss the point, but pull stunts like putting it on the banned books list for the “crime” of being an environmentalist's allegory, or creating propaganda such as Truax to counter it (?) on behalf of the poor industrialists. Now that a movie is coming out, it appears that Fox Business Network is picking up where the old campaigns left off - with Lou Dobbs sounding the charge. He put together a panel of three other like-minded pundits on Tuesday (2/21/12) and laughed heartily when one of them suggested "fighting back" by leaving as much litter on the movie theater floor as possible.

Fox Guest Ann Coulter To Do Fund Raiser For Anti-Abortion Extremist

Posted by Priscilla · February 23, 2012 11:12 AM · 15 reactions

Consider the following hypothetical. In the cause of his activism on behalf of an Islamic cause, a Muslim activist did the following: blockaded buildings; got arrested 40 times for various activities connected to the activism; disrupted Town Hall meetings; described himself as an extremist; palled around with a future assassin; and paid for TV ads featuring grisly photos of dead bodies. This person then runs for political office. A noted liberal pundit does a fund raiser for him. How do you think Fox guest Ann Coulter would respond?  For starters, I suspect that she would bray about treason and domestic terrorism. But if you make this hypothetical person a real life Christian anti-abortion radical, you have Democratic presidential candidate Randall Terry for whom - wait for it - Ann Coulter is doing a March 3rd fund raiser at an Oklahoma Baptist church which includes, as one of its members, birther State Rep. Mike Ritze.

The First Ten: Fox And Friends Uses BB King Performance To Attack President Obama

Posted by Headly Westerfield · February 23, 2012 6:45 AM · 2 reactions

Over the years a pattern has developed on Fox “News,” and more specifically Fox and Friends, that’s worth examining in detail.  News Hounds has often noted that F&F is the morning agit-prop table-setter for the entire Fox “News” day.  However, within that pattern lies another pattern worth deep exploration.  The First Ten™ minutes of Fox and Friends is the most important part of the channel’s entire day.  A number of stories are covered on The First Ten, but the underlying thread is usually that they all make President Obama or the government look bad.  Under the guise of bubbly happy talk, this heavily scripted segment—with just enough tomfoolery to make it sound ad libbed—is NEVER posted on Fox’s web site.  That’s a shame because The First Ten™ is where Fox “News” launch a lot of its trial balloons.  Some manage to float airily throughout the Fox schedule, trailing Right Wing memes.  Others sink without a trace after one airing.  This very subtle attack on President Obama using B.B. King and chyrons is a perfect example of the latter.   Video after the jump.

Fox And Friends Ignores Republicans In Presidents’ Day Attack On Democratic Presidents

Posted by Headly Westerfield · February 22, 2012 11:34 PM · 1 reaction

While Presidents’ Day may have been two days ago, Fox “News” can’t let an opportunity to trash Democratic president go by.  That’s why those Foxy Friends on Fox and Friends hosted John Fund this morning to expound on his Fox “News” dot com article.  The Fox segment was called “Did presidential scandals put nation at risk?”  As I listened to the segment I thought it curious that it only touched on the sex scandals of Presidents John Kennedy and William Clinton.  My spidey sense told me that something was being left out.  I was wrong.  John Fund’s article was only about those two presidents: a reach-back to the ‘60s and a modern president.  I’ll see Fund’s reach-back and modern president and raise him a Republican icon: The triumvirate of Presidents Nixon, George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan respectively, all of whom [allegedly] committed crimes worse than mere sexual indiscretions or lying about them under oath.  Video after the jump.
