Barney Frank Gives O’Reilly A Pass On His Vicious Exploitation Of The Boston Bombings
Barney Frank appeared on The O’Reilly Factor last night to rebut Bill O’Reilly’s attacks on him in the aftermath of the Boston bombings. You may recall that two nights after the bombings, O’Reilly spent three segments attacking Frank for having politicized the attacks. Or, to put it another way, playing the victim so that he, O’Reilly, could use that as an excuse to smear Frank for political gain. O’Reilly was deliberately vicious, saying at one point that he and Dennis Miller should go to Frank’s house, drag him outside and humiliate him. But tonight, in a face-to-face confrontation with Frank, O’Reilly insisted his only interest was in Americans “coming together.” And Frank mostly let him get away with it.

Glenn Beck will leave no stone unturned to get on TV get to the truth in the case of a Saudi national questioned and then released just after the Boston Marathon bombing. Last night, barely half an hour after Bill O’Reilly promised to quash any high profile person who “spout[ed] gibberish about deadly terrorism” he listened patiently while Beck spouted huge gobbets of gibberish about a Department of Homeland Security “coverup” involving the student.

As part of what Bill O’Reilly surely feels is his jihad to smear Muslims fight terrorism via semantics, he brought on his regular Thursday night psychologists to smear the Tsarnaevs, the parents of the Boston bombing suspects O’Reilly mocked at the opening of show last night, even further. But O’Reilly got an extra bang (pardon the expression) for his buck when Dr. Wendy Walsh fingered public schools as enabling the kind of upbringing Boston bomb suspects Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev theoretically received.
Read moreMegyn Kelly Attacks Planned Parenthood, Advances Lie That Pres. Obama Supports Infanticide
As the media mouthpiece for those who are waging a war on women, Fox News has consistently waged on war on Planned Parenthood which is seen, by the anti-choice movement, as an "abortion mill" which uses tax dollars to "kill babies" rather than a place where low income women can access a range of reproductive health care services. In his vilification of Planned Parenthood, Bill O'Reilly has used the lies and propaganda of the anti-abortion movement. He supported the GOP effort to defund it. The Anti-Planned Parenthood sting videographer Lila Rose was warmly welcomed by Mike Huckabee. But these examples of anti-choice bias are from Fox "opinion" shows as opposed to official Fox news which is always "fair & balanced." (!?) Yet, Megyn Kelly used her "news" show to advance the newest anti-choice meme that Pres. Obama shouldn't be speaking before Planned Parenthood because they're just as bad as Gosnell. And, as we've seen on Fox opinion, any Gosnell discussion leads to the old Obama supports infanticide lie - a lie being peddled on a Kelly's fair & balanced "news" show!
Read moreBill O’Reilly Announces A Jihad Against People Who Don’t Hate Muslims Enough
Bill O’Reilly’s Tip of the Day last night was about the importance of respecting people with other opinions. “Strong beliefs are good…. But disliking people with whom you disagree is destructive,” he said. That’s the segment that closes The O’Reilly Factor. So what to make of his diatribe against everyone he disagrees with at the opening of his show? The list of targets began with the obviously grieving mother of the Tsarnaev bombing suspects, moved on to an MSNBC pundit, then the “radicalized” university system and concluding with the announcement that he is beginning a jihad against any “high-profile person starts to spout gibberish about deadly terrorism.”
Read moreBret Baier’s Lapdog Interview With President And Laura Bush
Special Report today featured a lengthy interview with former President and Mrs. George W Bush. The interview aired on the day Bush’s Presidential Library opened. There were no questions about WMD’s, Katrina or the Great Recession. But Baier did not take long before giving Bush openings to criticize President Obama over the Boston bombings. Bush was gracious enough to turn them aside. But he did hint that he and Baier are palsy by making such comments as, “You know me well enough to know…” and later, “I play golf like you play golf.”
Read moreFox Demands Answers About Welfare Payments to Boston Bombers
Further to previous posts about Fox News getting its knickers in a twist over reports that the Boston bombers received support from government programs ("bombed the hands that fed them" as one Fox headline puts it): pundits have spent a fair bit of time in the past 24 hours trying to whip up anger at the Massachusetts government for refusing to release information about government payments to the bombers. So far they don't seem to have had massive amounts of success.
Read moreDennis Miller Uses Boston Marathon Bombing To Advocate Ending Lifeline Telephone Program
Dennis Miller picked up the Fox News ball of using the news that Boston bombing suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev had received public assistance as a means to smear social welfare programs. Just as Sean Hannity later used the information to suggest that welfare recipients are, or should be known as, enemies of good Americans, Dennis Miller got more specific and suggested that the Lifeline telephone program, misnamed as “Obamaphones” by Fox Newsies, is likely to become a tool for terrorists.
Read moreFox News Features Extremist Anti-Abortion Priest Who Wants To Conduct Funerals For Remains In Gosnell Clinic
As part of their week long anti-Islamic hate fest, Fox News braying heads continue to bray about the dangers of "radical Islam." So it was interesting to see that their "news" programming would feature a man who is part of an all male religious group dedicated to extremist views that pose a real threat to women and doctors. No, I'm not talking about some radical jihadist mullah, but Catholic priest Fr. Frank Pavone who is part of an order of Catholic priests devoted to putting an end to safe, legal abortion. Pavone was last seen on Fox touting his daring "rescue" of a terminally ill Canadian child. Today, he was on Fox's "news" show "Happening Now" where he spoke about his desire to obtain the bodies from Gosnell's clinic so he can give them a Catholic funeral. While he seems benign enough, his writings say otherwise. But he's pro-life and that's all that matters on "fair & balanced" Fox News which is always happy to provide him with a pulpit for "pro-life" propaganda.
Read moreBlackburn Uses Gosnell Case To Feign Concern For Minorities
As News Hounds Priscilla has pointed out, Fox has been exploiting the criminal case against abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell to advance its anti-abortion agenda and its “liberal” media victimhood. But nothing, in my opinion, has matched the howler of Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn – whose voting record earned her a 25% rating from the NAACP and 0% from NARAL – going on The O’Reilly Factor and pretending to be acting out of concern for minority women. Bill O’Reilly – who has his own dubious record on minorities and women – gave her a pass.
