And Happy International Women’s Day!

“Is it just Republicans? Do we have to go there, Bill Maher, Ed Schultz.” …it’s just not Republicans."
False equivalence aside, Kelly is suggesting its OK to call women sluts and prostitutes because other people do it too. Shameful!

Add this to the list of Republican attacks on women…this week, Senator Glenn Grothman (R-Wisconsin) introduced a bill, which would declare single parenting child abuse. Women outnumber men as single parents 5 to 1.
I wonder why Sen. Grothman did not propose making filing for divorce equivalent with child/spouse abuse? That might actually affect men as much as women, ya know.

My sympathies to Ms. Fluke who, in an effort to explain why birth control coverage is a matter of health, has become the hate target of the week for the right wing. This attack on her character is ugly, piggish, and absurd. I’m embarrased for the right wing…their twisted ideas about human sexuality show them to be completely out of touch with normal human behavior.

I’d like to see Santorum answer a question about which of his children aren’t going to college because they’ll do just fine without that degree. He would do a lot for his position by pointing out which of his kids aren’t going to college and what they will be doing instead.
Oh this just in… santorum-complains-about-getting-his-kids-through-college’

When Freud was theorizing that sexual repression was at the root of many psychosis he must have had right wing types as patients. These people are obssessed with sex, but they can only perceive of it as deviant or wrong when other people do it. Bill seems overly concerned that someone is having sex and he’s not getting any.

I thought Repubs had made their tent as small as they possibly could, having driven all self-respecting racial, religious and non-hetero minorities away, but now they’ve gone after the only group left—women. It will be interesting to see if there are any grown ups left to call Rush to task for his bad behavior. I really think not.

Think Bill Think! Why not ask “If white people made up 13% of the population and Rick Santorum yadda yadda…” Here’s another What If question: What if Bill O’Reilly used reason and logic instead of emotion and tribalism in his arguments — would he then be a Democrat?

Well I read on a blog that Fox News is trying to destroy the institution of journalism by reporting nothing but opinions as facts! So that must be true as well.

Perhaps he should make it company policy that women employees don’t use hormonal birth control, because clearly the wages Bozell pays them would be used for such sinful purchases. Next, start urine testing for artificial hormones in women employees, all in the name of religious freedom (to control others).

Does anyone watch Fox news who isn’t either rich or stupid?

This kind of turned-on-its-head rhetoric, in which real science is condemned as religious belief—Wait, can that be right? I thought religion was good and science was bad! Now we hear that science is religion, and religious beliefs aren’t trustworty?? I guess.
My point is that this kind of thing is going to confuse the heck out of people. And that is the problem bubble-dwellers like Santorum have. They assume the rest of us ‘know’ the same things that they ‘know.’ Santorum isn’t talking to the rest of us, he’s talking to his base.

If as Beck says, everyone’s a Catholic, will they all stop using birth control in support of the Catholic belief that almost no one follows? THAT would be something. THAT would get noticed. Anything less seems disingenuous to me.

A real world solution, such as making contraceptives universally available to women just might reduce the illegitimacy rate, but the right wing would never consider such a reasonable and reality-based solution. No, they want Pres. Obama to go out and talk about it, or maybe even to lead the nation in a prayer about illegitimate births. DUH. It’s easy to see that the right wing and its hostility to birth control are the ones helping to promote unwanted pregnancy. The USA has twice the rate of unwanted pregnancy as other industrialized nations. All of which offer birth control as part of their public option or universal healthcare.

This guy is in favor of privatizing public schools, But if you privatize public school, how is it still public?
I think there is a lot to fix in public schools, but these people focus on the unions and money exclusively as though fixing that will solve all problems. That is simplistic and probably hides their real motivations

There are those who think Christian churches have been waging a war on women for a little over 2,000 years now. Add the Jewish and Muslim faiths to the list and its a worldwide conspiracy. Birth control is a direct counter-attack to that oppression.

In a world of 7 billion people, in a country where children cost $100,000 to raise, it is only in the idiot-bubble of the rightwing world that being “For” contraception is somehow a bad thing. The Republicans and Catholics have picked a bad issue to take sides on. While most women don’t have abortions, the vast majority of even the staunchest Catholics have intimate experience with the need for birth control!

Bolling used to be a commodities trader. Stock traders are the new lawyers, in other words, people we love to hate. He’s probably a bit scared of Waters because he actually is a demon.

I hope her brain is eventually successful in escaping! If I were a military man I’d be really pissed at Liz Trotta, who apparently is indulging her own disturbing rape fantasies.
Sadly violence of all kinds is up in the military. That’s the result of soldiers going repeatedly to war with no effort to deal with the emotional scars that result, so this dolt wants to blame it on women.

Sausage-fest indeed. This older male view of contraception is as out-of-touch with reality as you can get. Would we ever see Fox do a story about the growing use of Viagra by seniors by interviewing only women doctors, women psychiatrists and wives of ‘users’? I’m fairly certain the women impacted by Viagra would have differing views than the men who use it—(4 hour erections? I don’t think so!)
