Joseph West commented on Mark Fuhrman Baselessly Calls Christopher Lane Killing A Racial ‘Hate Crime’ 2013-08-22 15:22:39 -0400 · Flag
To the visiting trolls, I’ll point out to both of you that the PRIMARY reason there was so much outrage about the Zimmerman case was the MONTH-LONG DELAY before charges were even brought against Zimmerman. These three boys (1 of whom is white and 1 may be mixed-race Black/Hispanic—what’s commonly described as “Blatino”) were picked up within mere HOURS of their crime. Incidentally, it’s interesting how FoxNoise jumps on any case where a white person is attacked or killed by African-Americans, even when the perps are caught within a matter of hours, but isn’t quite as quick to look into cases where an African-American person is attacked or killed by whites (unless, of course, Jackson or Sharpton calls attention to the crime, at which point FoxNoise simply pulls out the old “race hustler” smear and promptly takes the white guy’s side).

Furthermore, it’s CLEAR from “Zim’s” own call to 911 that he had profiled Trayvon and was DELIBERATELY stalking him (by the way—AGAINST the operator’s instructions) before shooting Martin. These guys admitted they were doing it because they were “bored” (no matter how much Furhma wants to ignore the EVIDENCE at hand—of course, this IS Fuhrman, a man who didn’t let something like evidence get in his way as a cop, even if he had to plant the evidence).

Joseph West commented on Fox's Ablow Blames Australian Teen Murder In OK On Abortion 2013-08-21 19:38:48 -0400 · Flag
Ablow really needs to do a bit of research before he opens his mouth and inserts his foot.

According to Guttmacher, in 2008 (the last year for which data is provided) the state of Oklahoma had a total of SIX abortion providers. 96% of Oklahoma counties have NO abortion providers and 56% of all women of reproductive age live in those counties. (There are 77 counties in the state, and 96% would be 74 counties.)

Additionally, the following is a list of restrictions on abortions in the state (as of May 2013):

•A woman must receive state-directed counseling that includes information designed to discourage her from having an abortion and then wait 24 hours before the procedure is provided.
•Abortion is covered in private insurance policies only in cases of life endangerment, unless an optional rider is purchased at an additional cost.
•Health plans that will be offered in the state’s health exchange that will be established under the federal health care reform law can only cover abortion in cases when the woman’s life is endangered, unless an optional rider is purchased at an additional cost.
•Abortion is covered in insurance policies for public employees only in cases of life endangerment, unless an optional rider is purchased at an additional cost.
•The use of telemedicine for the performance of medication abortion is prohibited.
•The parent of a minor must consent and be notified before an abortion is provided.
•Public funding is available for abortion only in cases of life endangerment, rape or incest.
•An abortion may be performed at or after 20 weeks postfertilization (22 weeks after the woman’s last menstrual period) only if the woman’s life is endangered or if her physical health is severely compromised, based on the spurious assertion that a fetus can feel pain at that point.

And then there’s Australia. A country where abortion is LEGAL. While each state sets its own specific laws, abortion is fully legal in the entire country for “maternal life, health, and/or mental health.” AND, just to stick it to Ablow a bit more, the young Australian man was from the city of Melbourne which happens to be in New South Wales—where “abortion on demand” is FULLY legal. (Aside from NSW, the only other place where there aren’t any restrictions is the Australian Capital Territory.)

Visitor, I just have to wonder exactly what kind of men they are. After all, if the team had been recognized when they actually achieved the distinction, they would’ve been at the White House with Richard Nixon. (Now, granted, compared to the majority of today’s GOP, Nixon is a veritable saint, but that just shows how awful today’s GOP really is.)

Hewitt is wrong. The ONLY thing that the 17th Amendment changed was that US Senators would be elected BY THE PEOPLE, rather than selected by the various state legislatures. It did NOT change the Constitutional requirements to become a Senator.

What makes this especially egregious is the fact that this asshat is currently teaching constitutional law at Chapman University. If he doesn’t know what the 17th Amendment says, he needs to be removed from his post. If Hewitt really understood how the Constitution works, he’d know that it IS possible to amend a PART of a Constitutional provision without amending the whole section (which is what the 17th did—it merely changed HOW Senators are elected; it did NOT change the requirements for election).

Joseph West commented on Hannity And Connie Mack Use Ted Cruz’ Birth Certificate To Go Birther On Obama Again 2013-08-20 02:08:53 -0400 · Flag
Well, Sam, then Cruz has “double foreign cooties.” Not only was he born OUTSIDE THE USA (in that liberal socialist haven called Canada) but his father was born in Cuba and didn’t become a citizen of the US until 2005 (despite having first come to the US in 1957—after he’d fought FOR Fidel Castro).

Joseph West commented on Jamie Colby Pushes Anti-Choice Lie: Pres. Obama Secretly Using Taxpayer Dollars For Planned Parenthood Abortions 2013-08-20 01:58:42 -0400 · Flag
To the obvious troll, if you and your cohorts spent half as much time (and money) helping young women avoid the potential need for an abortion, there’d be a small fraction of abortions provided. Unfortunately, you lying scumbuckets are only really interested in controlling the sexual habits and lives of women to whom you’re NOT related. You creeps are no better than the Taliban and the Saudi and Iranian mullahs.

Furthermore, NONE of you lying sacks of sh*t are willing to help the children who ARE born to women who don’t have abortions but are in the same economic boat. You want to cut welfare and food stamps and the WIC program and blame all that spending on women have “too many children” (primarily because they can’t get the necessary birth control because of you lying sacks of sh*t and your attacks on Planned Parenthood).

And since you don’t know who Jamie Colby is, it just proves your tunnel blindness in pursuing the extremist right-wing anti-choice agenda. Go back to whatever right-wing master paying for your trolling and pick up your dollar and your voucher for a small cup of coffee at MickeyD’s.

Not really sure that tRump’s comment is as much outrageous as it is simply delusional. If anything, I’d say one of his kids should use the comment to have “Daddy Dearest” committed to an institution. Obviously, someone who actually believes that has to be a danger to himself and shouldn’t be allowed to be among the general public.

Joseph West commented on Cavuto Helps Promote A Balanced Budget Amendment 2013-08-19 03:11:49 -0400 · Flag
Well, perhaps the Governor might want to recheck the procedures for a Constitutional Convention. Yes, it does only take 34 states to call for one (and EACH state has to send in a SEPARATE application—it’s not like an online petition) BUT, it still requires 38 states to ratify the proposed amendment.

It’s also worth noting that, so far, only 31 states have ever applied for a Constitutional Convention regarding a balanced budget amendment, but many of the applications have differences so the applications shouldn’t count (any more than an amendment proposed by Congress which has differences between the House and Senate versions can be considered until AFTER the versions have been reconciled). Adding even more fun to the mix is the fact that several states have rescinded their applications (which, to me, would require them to submit new applications—and the right-wing have already set precedent when they succeeded in getting the rescissions of several states’ approval of the ERA removed from the needed “38”).

I’d suggest the people who want to believe in NDEs need to go find a copy of “An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge” by Ambrose Bierce. The story is about a Confederate sympathizer who’s facing a hanging by Union troops. After the rope is released, it amazingly breaks and the man drops into the river below and makes his escape and heads back to his home. (There’s a bit more but if you haven’t read the tale, I don’t want to spoil it for you. Obviously, there’s a connection to this particular article.) The story also holds a unique place in American TV history. An adaptation was made in France in the early 1960s—and won awards at both Cannes and the Oscars—and the US broadcast rights were awarded to Rod Serling who included the short film as an episode of his original “Twilight Zone” series—it was the ONLY TZ episode that hadn’t been specifically produced for the show.

Joseph West commented on Fox & Friends Want You To Be Very Afraid If New York Doesn’t Stop And Frisk 2013-08-17 14:21:44 -0400 · Flag
Oh, I forgot. It would be interesting if NYC decided to expand “stop and frisk” to EVERYONE, regardless of the amount of melanin in the target’s skin. Wouldn’t it be fun to see NYC’s finest pulling Jesse Watters over for a “stop and frisk?” Or Bill O’Reilly?

That’s where NYC made its big mistake. If the cops had been stopping and frisking just 1 out of every 10 white men (wouldn’t it be really fun to see this happening on Wall Street?), they could’ve had a bit more “plausibility” in their actions. Unfortunately, the numbers just didn’t bear that out.

(Note: I do not agree with “stop and frisk” at all. But, the way the police were obviously targeting minorities was just so blatant I can’t believe the city thought it would get away with it. Bloomberg obviously forgot how many legal citizens and residents were targeted after 9/11 because they “looked” like they were terrorists. Whether the targeting is done by private individuals or the police, it’s not right.)

Too bad these guys (and the rest of the right-wing nutjobs and teabaggers) weren’t as overwrought at the unconstitutionality of the Court decision that put Dubya into the White House. Of course, to the right-wingers, it’s only “unconstitutional” when it’s not something with which they agree.

I do wish someone would remind not only Cavuto but also Levin that “Obamacare” was based—almost verbatim—on the (right-wingnut) Heritage Foundation’s health care plan designed to oppose “Hillarycare.”

Joseph West commented on On Fox & Friends: Student Transgender Rights Bill Will Encourage Bathroom "Pranks" 2013-08-15 16:47:29 -0400 · Flag
I’m just curious as to what kind of public women’s bathrooms these right-wing creatures in female guise use. Now, I’ve only been in ladies’ rooms when I worked in a grocery store and had to clean them (also, the ladies rooms that they show on TV shows and in movies), but I’m pretty certain they all follow the same basic layout. That is to say, all the toilets are located in private, lockable stalls, safe from prying eyes. And, even in mixed-gender gay bars, drag queens tend to use the ladies’ rooms when they need to relieve themselves for much the same reason (a drag queen friend of mine once asked me to “stand watch” while she used the men’s room because someone had sort of evacuated their stomach contents in the ladies’ room and she didn’t want some stranger’s eyes prying while she did her business—the men’s room facilities didn’t have a door on the only stall).

As for trans boys encountering a cis boy “exposing himself,” most guys don’t really do that. (Think of it this way—how many flashers expose themselves to men, or people they think are men?) Teen guys, especially the ones who think of themselves as “straight,” may not have a problem joking around or checking out their buddies in the locker room, but NOT the bathroom. To put it in a slightly offensive way, doing that in the bathroom is just “gay.” Any teen boy who would do that to a trans-boy would do it to a cis-girl, but would clearly be doing it for, um shall we say, rape-y reasons and wouldn’t be hesitant to do it in the boys’ room OR the girls’ room.

Well, if Gutfeld is the product of 12 years of Catholic education, I’d say he’s the best example that the problem with education has nothing to do with the teaching or the school and everything to do with the kids attending and their parents.

I think the man is overdue for a visit from his school’s officials demanding he return his diploma (and maybe a few good sisters could come by with their rulers for a few hundred good raps on the knuckles).

Chuck, it’s not “Americans” doing that—it’s right-wing racists who do so. You can damn well believe if a “foreigner” had done the same thing to Bill O’Reilly or Sean Hannity, the calls for “boycotts” of that country’s products would be overwhelming.

As for “promoting her movie,” it’s technically NOT Oprah’s movie. Whitaker is the star of the film and Lee Daniels is the director. THEY are the folks who should be doing the REAL promoting. (OTOH, Oprah’s never really been a good interview SUBJECT. She’s always done a better job on the other side of the interview. And, believe me, if she still were doing her show, the last two weeks would’ve been non-stop promotion of the movie. She would’ve interviewed Whitaker and Daniels and brought on Jane Fonda and Vanessa Redgrave and Robin Williams and every other major star in a minor role before bringing on the cinematographer and original music composer and costumer and anyone else connected with the film willing to sit down for a 10-minute interview.

Joseph West commented on Donald Trump: I’m A Man For The Poor! 2013-08-14 16:20:02 -0400 · Flag
Antoinette, that doesn’t count. After all, daDonald didn’t actually lose any money with the bankruptcies since all the bankruptcies involved his “properties” not his personal finances.

From what I’ve been able to glean, most of his companies’ debt is actually owned by other Trump-owned companies, so Trump can basically erase the debt owed by the filing company—and likely write it off as a business loss on the owed company’s taxes—while having to repay only a small fraction of the remaining debt, which likely comes from yet another Trump venture. For a bit more info, so you can try to figure out what’s really going on, LegalZoom.com has an article that was originally posted in 2005 (I’m not sure if the article was originally posted to LegalZoom or to another site; all the comments I read below the article are from 2010 and later). The article describes what was going on with Trump’s SECOND bankruptcy (there’s also a link for an article recounting Trump’s third bankruptcy). The article is at legalzoom.com/legal-headlines/celebrity-lawsuits/how-does-trump-repeatedly-file (your browser will probably issue a “Security warning” prompt—the full link has an https lead but I’m not really sure what couldn’t have been "securely delivered).

How exactly does one go about “intercepting” 911 calls? Doesn’t that sound a bit more ominous than all the NSA’s “evil spying” or the IRS’s “harassing” teabagger groups? Just imagine the outrage at FoxNoise if the FBI admitted it was “intercepting” 911 calls to look for criminals. But, as long as Operation Rescue’s doing it for THEIR nefarious purposes, everything’s all hunky-dory at FoxNoise.

truman, I think you’re misunderstanding. Toad’s wanting the Dominicans who are currently in the US to leave. I would guess that the overwhelming majority of these Dominicans are legal citizens, simply proud of their heritage and culture in the same way that so many Irish-Americans (such as Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity) and Italian-Americans (such as Neil Cavuto) are proud of their Irish and Italian heritages on St Patrick’s and Columbus Days.

OTOH, Rush would simply have to find a new Caribbean outlet for his sex parties if all the Dominican boys had to leave.

Janet, perhaps you might want to rephrase your last sentence, considering how many actual actors were really gay but it wasn’t known to the general public. Like Rock Hudson? Or, more recently, Neil Patrick Harris (who managed to play such a convincing letch/ladies man that people were in a bit of shock when he came out)? Or David Hyde Pierce?

Yeah, Betsy, because that’s exactly how Jesus appeared on Earth the LAST time—in the guise of a member of the religious establishment.

Why is it that your “Master Jesus” never appears in more serious situations—like in Cleveland to help the poor women who’d been held prisoner for decades? Or to rescue children being held as sex slaves? But a stupid car crash? Really? Well, how about this: Why THIS car crash? There are thousands of car crashes every single day, resulting in hundreds of deaths and physical injuries for people—many of whom are “good God-fearing Christians.” But why aren’t THESE people “worthy” of your “Master Jesus’s” attention?

Well, you know how it is. You live in a country where the men don’t have the luxury of going home after services and sitting back with a cold brew (or six) while watching whatever mind-numbing sporting event can be found. Whether it’s baseball, football, basketball, auto racing, that’s where you’ll find the vast majority of American men on Sunday after church.

IOW, if Americans didn’t have something to “entertain” them after church services, they might find something political to do.
