Fox's Ablow Blames Australian Teen Murder In OK On Abortion

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on August 21, 2013 · Flag

As Priscilla has posted, Fox & Friends wasted no time racializing the shooting death of an Australian teenager in Oklahoma to smear African Americans, in general. Fox Nation followed suit, with a blaring headline that suggested President Obama and Al Sharpton gave the alleged murderers a pass because they are black - even though there was nothing to suggest race had anything to do with the crime. But Fox News' crackpot psychiatrist, Dr. Keith Ablow, came up with the most - uh, creative - politicization of all: blaming abortion for the crime.

In a video that FoxNews.com laughably subtitled "Dr. Keith Ablow gives insight," America Live host Shannon Bream theorized that the indifference to life might have come from video games where "shooting people 10 hours a day" made them "numb." But Ablow took it quite a few steps further:

We do have an epidemic now of disconnectedness. ...We have a culture that is cheapening life.

...(I)f in general, if you can’t outlaw third trimester abortions in every state, then you have part of the answer to why people don’t take life that seriously."

While he was at it, Ablow took some swipes at Facebook, too:

But Facebook has become ground zero in the battle to either maintain our identities or to let them go into the web and these three became non people with no feelings for others and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were big users of Facebook and other things Internet-related.

Funny how neither Bream nor Ablow mentioned the easy access to guns as at least a contributing factor.

As per typical for you lefties and Fox News haters, you completely miss the point so you can continue to pursue your agenda. Ablow was talking about a culture that devalues human life so much as to allow children to be killed in the womb and a “third party” culture of electronic distancing where people are never known in the real world, allowing them to become a username on a screen – he DID NOT say that abortion was the cause of the shooting.

With regards to Lane’s tragic, senseless death and Ablow’s bringing abortion into the duscussion, I heard another mention about it today on FOX “news” during America Live. One of the panelists discussing the killing said that the 3 teens might have what is labeled “survivor syndrome”. Apparently it affects kids born post-Roe vs. Wade because just knowing that they COULD have been aborted can affects their behavior. Um, okay, so, like Ablow, I guess this lady is surmising that abortion could have been at least partly responsible for Lane’s death?

Video of this segment here – the abortion part of the discussion happen just before the 3 minute mark.

Tried that with pretty much the whole spectrum, Antoinette. I asked why they’re trying to shoehorn their agendas into this. I asked why they’re ignoring the equally severe, but undeniably racial shooting in Tulsa. I asked why most RW media that will talk about the woman who stopped the Georgia shooter is being downplayed or ignored, if their narrative is about statistics, not race.

Crickets, except for one response: If Casey Lane was a black man who had been shot by whites, we’d be hearing eight ways from sunday about how racist whites are, like with that thug Trayvon.

I got everything I need to know from that one comment. No one on the right cares about Lane (most certainly not Fox News). He’s just their new attempt to create a reverse Trayvon and, by proxy, a face for victimized whites. Wont work for two reasons:

1) Like their three or four would-be martyrs, the black attackers were found quickly and professionally. There is literally nothing to talk about, past the shock of how brutal the crime itself was.

2) As I’ve commented multiple times, including on this comment, if Chris Lane’s attackers weren’t so young, he’d be taking a backseat to the Tulsa PD whitesplaining a racially motivated spree killing of blacks in a way that actually tries to say they asked for it.

Yeah… I got that on standby for if this sickness tries spouting legs.

This quack is in no position to talk about “cheapening life” when you have child molester priests in the Catholic church raping young children.

Take to social media and ask the masses why this quack ignores this serious issue.

Legitimate factors to consider in this shooter:

Mental illness, sociopathic behaviour, gang mentality, rage issues, upbringing where none of the above were reined in. Oh, and let’s not rule out items like shallow affect.

Things to not consider:

Abortion, Gay Rights, Women, Obamaphones, Trayvon Martin, and hands off entertainment venues- Unless you want to couple it with a topic that applies to the real world.

In the wingnut universe of “Dr” Allblow, guns don’t kill people. Facebook does.

Ablow really needs to do a bit of research before he opens his mouth and inserts his foot.

According to Guttmacher, in 2008 (the last year for which data is provided) the state of Oklahoma had a total of SIX abortion providers. 96% of Oklahoma counties have NO abortion providers and 56% of all women of reproductive age live in those counties. (There are 77 counties in the state, and 96% would be 74 counties.)

Additionally, the following is a list of restrictions on abortions in the state (as of May 2013):

•A woman must receive state-directed counseling that includes information designed to discourage her from having an abortion and then wait 24 hours before the procedure is provided.
•Abortion is covered in private insurance policies only in cases of life endangerment, unless an optional rider is purchased at an additional cost.
•Health plans that will be offered in the state’s health exchange that will be established under the federal health care reform law can only cover abortion in cases when the woman’s life is endangered, unless an optional rider is purchased at an additional cost.
•Abortion is covered in insurance policies for public employees only in cases of life endangerment, unless an optional rider is purchased at an additional cost.
•The use of telemedicine for the performance of medication abortion is prohibited.
•The parent of a minor must consent and be notified before an abortion is provided.
•Public funding is available for abortion only in cases of life endangerment, rape or incest.
•An abortion may be performed at or after 20 weeks postfertilization (22 weeks after the woman’s last menstrual period) only if the woman’s life is endangered or if her physical health is severely compromised, based on the spurious assertion that a fetus can feel pain at that point.

And then there’s Australia. A country where abortion is LEGAL. While each state sets its own specific laws, abortion is fully legal in the entire country for “maternal life, health, and/or mental health.” AND, just to stick it to Ablow a bit more, the young Australian man was from the city of Melbourne which happens to be in New South Wales—where “abortion on demand” is FULLY legal. (Aside from NSW, the only other place where there aren’t any restrictions is the Australian Capital Territory.)

Someone had a pregnancy terminated which made these kids SkyNet zombies because Ablow doesn’t understand Facebook.

OK.

I seem to recall brutal murders taking place prior to Roe. In fact, wasn’t it two white guys who did the “In Cold Blood” murders? One assumes that the abortion laws, in Jesus’ very own land of Oklahoma, are pretty strict.

Ablow is literally mentally ill. I wouldn’t want to work anywhere near him even if I agreed with him. His thinking is so disordered that I fully expect him to snap completely some day. Let’s just hope he isn’t armed when he does.
