Keith Ablow: Watertown Police Should Have Told Citizens to Exercise Second Amendment Rights

Posted by Margarita · April 22, 2013 5:44 PM · 5 reactions

Leave it to Dr. Keith Ablow. In an op-ed column published today, Fox’s favorite Politicized Psychiatrist used the capture of bombing suspect Dzhokar Tsarnaev to not only make a pitch for gun rights, but imply that the bombings should motivate everyone in the Boston area to grow a backbone, drop that liberal political correctitude, and go buy a firearm forthwith.

Fox Guest: ‘Red-Blooded Americans' Want To Torture Boston Bomb Suspect

Posted by Ellen · April 22, 2013 12:45 PM · 11 reactions

State Senator Greg Ball (R-NY) is in a bit of political hot water for having tweeted on Friday, “So, scum bag #2 in custody. Who wouldn’t use torture on this punk to save more lives?” So, naturally, he got a friendly platform on Fox & Friends to double down on his torture love – by arguing that most people agree with him. Host Gretchen Carlson seemed as though she were trying to hold back and hide her disapproval.

Fox Now Using Boston Marathon Bombings To Go After Eric Holder (Again)

Posted by Ellen · April 22, 2013 9:15 AM · 4 reactions

You can check off the “witch hunt against Eric Holder” as the latest political agenda Fox is trying to work into the Boston Marathon bombings. How else to explain hosting a victim of the Fort Hood shootings, pretending he’s an expert on terrorism and prosecuting terrorists and then goading him into attacking Attorney General Holder as being soft on terror?

Fox's "The Five" Uses Gosnell Trial To Push Anti-Abortion Agitprop, Smear Pres. Obama As Infanticide Supporter

Posted by Priscilla · April 21, 2013 9:59 PM · 7 reactions

As a show that is unabashedly anti-abortion, it's not surprising that those on "The Five" promote anti-abortion lies and propaganda. Such is the case with their newfound outrage over an alleged media "blackout" of the trial of a Philadelphia doctor who performed illegal late term abortions. Not content with the publicity that this case has received, the anti-abortion lobby is trying to shame the media into more coverage in order to promote the meme that Gosnell's hideous clinic is the norm for abortion clinics and thus provide fodder for their campaign to end abortion. Fox News wasted no time in covering this faux outrage which was promoted, in part, by Fox's anti-abortion liberal Democrat (?!) Kirsten Powers."The Five" jumped on board after not having mentioned the trial at all. They followed this up with more anti-abortion agitprop including the Fox enabled lie that President Obama supports the kind of abortions performed in a clinic that is clearly not representative of America's abortion providers. If there is any doubt that Fox "News" is a conduit for those whose policies would create lots more Gosnell's, this show should dispel it.

Chris Wallace Promotes Conservative Exploitation Of Boston Bombings To Push For Weaker Gun Laws

Posted by Ellen · April 21, 2013 8:30 PM · 6 reactions

This week, conservatives have pointed to the Boston Marathon bombings manhunt to advocate against Massachusetts’ gun restrictions. So it was no surprise that Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace picked up their talking points and used them in an interview with gun-safety advocate Senator Dianne Feinstein today. Feinstein nicely smacked down the argument.

Fox’s Peter Johnson, Jr. ‘Devastated’ Obama Called For Restraint And Caution In Wake Of Boston Bombings

Posted by Ellen · April 21, 2013 7:13 PM · 6 reactions

Fox’s Tucker Carlson and Roger Ailes mouthpiece attorney Peter Johnson, Jr. didn’t just attack President Obama for urging Americans “not to rush to judgment” in the wake of the Boston bombings.  The two chickenhawks suggested it’s downright unpatriotic not to immediately ratchet up suspicions against Muslims nor immediately call for the death penalty against bomb suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Rupert Murdoch's Not-So-Plausible Defense Of NY Post Boston Bomb Coverage

Posted by Ellen · April 20, 2013 6:00 PM · 14 reactions

News Corporation chief Rupert Murdoch took to the Twitter-sphere today to tweet out a dubious defense of his New York Post's false identification of the Boston bombing suspects. After receiving criticism for having published a photo of a high school track runner as the bomb suspect, Murdoch claimed that the information had come from the FBI. OK, fine. But then Murdoch made the ridiculous claim that once the FBI "changed direction," the pics were "instantly withdrawn." But as many of the retweeters pointed out, there's no way to "instantly withdraw" thousands of papers in print. (H/T Eric J.)

Fox News Continues Superficial Treatment of the Texas Plant Explosion

Posted by Margarita · April 20, 2013 3:38 PM · 10 reactions

Fox News and Fox Nation are maintaining their saturation coverage of the Boston bombing (to be fair, so is everyone else) - and also their relative silence on the fertilizer plant explosion that killed at least 14 people, damaged almost 100 homes and devastated a small Texas town.

Neil Cavuto's Anti-Muslim "Terror Expert" Guest, Brigitte Gabriel, Says Boston Bombing Suspects Part Of International Jihad Movement

Posted by Priscilla · April 20, 2013 2:04 PM · 3 reactions

Fox News is described, in the Center for American Progress' Report, "Fear Inc.," as an "echo chamber" for Islamophobia with its array of guests whose anti-Islamic talking points promote a negative image of Islam which, in turn, promotes fear and hatred of Islam and Muslims. Also mentioned in the report, as part of Islamophobic grass roots organizations, is Brigitte Gabriel, a Fox fave and alleged "expert" on terror, who is the founder of "ACT! for America," a group that seeks to “inform, educate, and  mobilize Americans regarding the multiple threats of radical Islam." The SPLC reports that she is "prone to sweeping generalizations and exaggerations as she describes a grand, sophisticated Muslim conspiracy bent on world domination." So it's not surprising that she believes the alleged Boston bombers are part of the conspiracy. And it's not surprising that Fox News gave her a platform from which to espouse her generalizations, yesterday, on Neil Cavuto's show.

Brian Kilmeade Baselessly Implicates Bombing Suspect’s Wife

Posted by Ellen · April 20, 2013 11:30 AM · 11 reactions

It’s still not known what drove the Tsarnaev brothers to cause the death and destruction they allegedly wreaked in Boston, but that isn’t stopping Fox News from all but declaring them jihadists. This morning, as part of the effort to amp up the fear and hate, Fox’s Brian Kilmeade suggested Bombing Suspect #1’s wife must have known something she’s not telling. Why? Because her husband, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, suddenly turned devout and he had been arrested for domestic violence in 2009. Also because she converted to Islam from Christianity.
