Fr. Jonathan Morris Attacks Caroline Kennedy & Says Democratic Party "Evil"

Posted by Priscilla · September 09, 2012 12:39 PM · 13 reactions

Despite its "fair & balanced" slogan, Fox News does seem to be the media mouthpiece for the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. Not only did they provide support for the bishops' opposition to the HHS birth control mandate; but the conservative Catholics in Fox's large stable of conservative Catholics promoted the zombie lie that the mandate allows coverage for abortion drugs. So it wasn't surprising to see that this morning's Fox & Friends covered the latest outrage making the rounds of conservative Catholic websites; i.e. Caroline Kennedy's Democratic Convention statement that, as a Catholic, she supports women's reproductive rights - a position about which Fox's own Catholic grand inquisitor and paragon of Catholic family values, Bill O'Reilly, is "stunned." And just to make sure that the Fox audience is also appalled, Fox priest Fr. Jonathan Morris' sweet Sunday Fox & Friends sermon included a not so thinly veiled attack on Ms. Kennedy along with a reminder about why Catholics shouldn't vote for those "evil" Democrats. On Fox News, Father knows best!!!!

Shannon Bream And America Live Help Promote And Add On To Obama/Gallup Poll Conspiracy Theory

Posted by Ellen · September 08, 2012 11:50 AM · 9 reactions

In case you missed it during all the convention coverage, The Daily Caller has a new conspiracy theory: that a DOJ lawsuit against The Gallup Organization is an attempt to intimidate the pollsters. The so-called evidence? Senior Obama adviser David Axelrod has been critical of their polling methods. How baseless is this? So baseless that conservative Ed Morrissey called it “not terribly rational.” Yet Fox News' Shannon Bream allowed her Republican guest not only to validate the theory – without any further evidence – but to throw out inflammatory accusations that the whole thing is the Obama administration’s attempt to squelch the First Amendment. (h/t Aria)

Neil Cavuto: Corporations Are People!

Posted by Brian · September 07, 2012 6:32 PM · 8 reactions

On yesterday’s Your World, James Roosevelt Jr. and Neil Cavuto and sparred about whether or not corporations are people. Referring to Elizabeth Warren’s speech to the Democratic convention, Cavuto asked, “Do you believe this ‘corporations aren’t people?’ I mean, what’s staffing them, what, computers?”

O’Reilly’s ‘No Spin Zone’ Calls On Karl Rove To Grade Bill Clinton’s Convention Speech

Posted by Ellen · September 07, 2012 4:33 PM · 2 reactions

Is there anything more cynical than presenting Karl Rove as some kind of independent analyst to comment upon the Democratic National Convention? That’s exactly what Fox News has been doing. Last night, The O’Reilly Factor, that supposed zone of “no spin,” called upon Rove to dissect Bill Clinton’s speech the night before. There was no discussion about how Rove just happens to be a power player in the Republican party.Path: p

Bill O'Reilly Attacks Sandra Fluke With Bogus Claim That She Supports Taxpayer Funded Transgender Surgery

Posted by Priscilla · September 07, 2012 1:41 PM · 14 reactions

I don't know if it's because Bill O'Reilly's former producer refused to submit to his amorous advances, but Bill O'Reilly does seem to have a problem with strong women who stand up for their rights. Since Sandra Fluke's speech before a group of Democratic members of congress, O'Reilly has added his voice to the circle of right wing male jerks whose resentment of Fluke's advocacy for women's reproductive rights resulted in a cacophony of slut shaming. O'Reilly suggested that, rather than balloons, condoms would drop on Fluke during her speech at the Democratic Convention. He claimed that she "smirked" during her speech. And during last night's "Talking Points," he attacked Fluke again. But rather than just engage in insulting personal invective, he seems to have told a flat out lie about Fluke's alleged support for taxpayer supported gender reassignment surgery.

R.E.M. To Fox News: Stop Playing 'Losing My Religion'

Posted by Ellen · September 07, 2012 1:00 PM · 7 reactions

During its incessant coverage of the removal of the word "God" from the Democratic National Committee platform, Fox News sometimes played "Losing My Religion" by R.E.M. But, as Raw Story reports, the rock group was not amused. Their music publisher sent a cease and desist letter demanding that Fox stop using their song. Furthermore, Michael Stipe, the group's lead singer, had some choice words for Fox News and their brand of reporting.

Bill O'Reilly Has No Problem With Limits On Women's Reproductive Rights - Cuz Women Still Have Reproductive Rights!

Posted by Priscilla · September 07, 2012 11:45 AM · 3 reactions

As News Hounds Ellen pointed out, Bill O'Reilly was doing his best cranky, old man imitation at last night's Democratic Convention. He was particularly incensed about the consistent defense of abortion rights because he couldn't wrap his overly inflated cranium around the Democratic narrative that our reproductive rights are being threatened. In supporting his claim that these rights are not under assault (AS IF), he made the factually correct statements that birth control is legal and "if you want any kind of birth control device, you can get it." But here's the thing. Thanks to O'Reilly and his pro-life pals, who just hate the idea that those slutty sluts are having wild sex for recreation and not procreation, you may be able to "get" birth control; but your access to it is being made more difficult. Let me splain it to Bill because I don't want him to be confused!
