GOP Civil War: Mark Levin Attacks Dana Perino Over Dr. Ben Carson
I think we can count on radio talk show host Mark Levin not being quite the Fox News regular he was supposed to be. At least not after his rant against "elitist" Dana Perino on the air yesterday. Perino's "crime?" Saying that Dr. Benjamin Carson doesn't do himself any favors by going on the air so much.
Read moreFox News' "Illegal Immigrants" Vs. Fox News Latino's "Undocumented Immigrants"
The news that the AP has dropped the term "illegal immigrant" from its lexicon was met with scorn and derision on the "fair & balanced" Fox News network. Steve Doocy suggested a conspiracy; i.e. that the AP was "cheerleading for immigration reform." Brian Kilmeade asked why anybody should care about the bias of the rejected term when these folks are "here illegally." On Neil Cavuto's show, Michelle Malkin did her patented snarling snark about how the AP is trying "to radically redefine the definition of citizenship." But the Fox News website is sticking with the patriotic American "illegal immigrant." Meanwhile, Fox News Latino is using the scorned and derided term. Paging Dr. Ablow, Fox media has a serious split personality.

Last week, North Dakota enacted three of the most extreme anti-choice laws in the United States. But you’d never know that from watching Fox & Friends this morning when Judge Andrew Napolitano and the Curvy Couch Crew extolled a study by “a libertarian think tank” placing North Dakota as one of the “freest” states in the union. (H/T Bemused)
Read moreBill O'Reilly Dissed Bill Donohue?
Bill O'Reilly and Bill Donohue have so much in common beyond their first names, shared Irish heritage and NY origin. Both bloviators are in the mid-sixties and are divorced but devout, pro-life Catholics who are products of an authoritarian Catholic education. Both share a hatred of liberals and Hollywood; although Donohue focuses on Hollywood Jews while the sophisticated O'Reilly reserves his venom for Hollywood liberals. Both feel that Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular are being besieged by evil force of secularism. To O'Reilly's credit, however, he doesn't, as does Donohue, blame the victims of clergy sexual abuse and has evolved on gay marriage, something deemed anathema by Donohue who is obsessed with anal sex. But Donohue is upset with O'Reilly and he's letting him know it!
Read moreBill O'Reilly Claims Planned Parenthood Supports Infanticide, Smears Dr. Tiller - Again
Bill O'Reilly, like his fellow anti-abortion extremists, hates Planned Parenthood and is more than willing to use his show to promote anti-abortion lies and propaganda such as supporting GOP lawmakers' efforts to de-fund Planned Parenthood and validating Lila Rose's bogus "sting" videos. The latest bit of anti-abortion nonsense was generated as a result of comments made by a Florida Planned Parenthood representative during a hearing on a Florida bill that would tighten abortion law, including a provision dealing with fetuses "born alive" during a botched abortion. As noted on Slate, "born alive" laws are the anti-abortion movement's "white whale" in that they believe it's a real problem and that because Pres. Obama didn't support an Illinois "born alive" bill, he supports infanticide. So it's no surprise that forced birther O'Reilly would be peddling the same infanticide lie on his show in order to, once again, slam an organization that, unlike O'Reilly, supports women.

Bill O’Reilly’s megalomania reached new heights (or lows, depending on your perspective) last night as he announced – in all seriousness – that his program is “now mandated to keep American lunacy in check.” O’Reilly rattled off his accomplishments in that regard: freeing an American prisoner in Mexico, getting a Florida professor suspended for engaging in an intercultural exercise O’Reilly didn’t like and saving Easter in an Alabama school.

Usually, Fox News patented outrage starts on official Fox opinion and them makes its way over to official Fox News for further reinforcement and validation. However, the newest bit of right wing apoplexy, over Columbia University's hiring of a former Weather Underground radical who has done her time and is now a distinguished sociology professor, started yesterday on official Fox News with Megyn Kelly. It then made its way to Fox & Friends where Peter Johnson Jr. had a total hissy fit about it.
Read moreEric Bolling Says Fox's "The Five" Is Officially Anti-Abortion!?
That the "fair & balanced" Fox News network is an arm of the movement which seeks to take women back to the not so good old days of back alley abortions was shown on Fox's "The Five" last week. It's not the first time that the group has promoted anti-abortion talking points. They condemned a You Tube video which celebrated the anniversary of Roe. They attacked pro-choicers who used Tim Tebow's athletic prowess to raise money for Planned Parenthood which they attacked in another segment. During the segments, several members of the not so Algonquin Round Table expressed their extreme anti-abortion positions as articulated in Andrea Tantaros' invective against Planned Parenthood and Greg Gutfeld's pefunctory misogynistic attempts to guilt trip women who choose to have abortions. Last week, The Five panelists not only combined standard Fox Hollywood bashing with standard Fox anti-abortion talking points; but Eric Bolling declared what "side" The Five is on. Hint- it's not the side that stands for women!
Read moreDoocy Accuses AP Of ‘Cheerleading’ For Immigration Reform After Dropping Use Of ‘Illegal Immigrant’ From Its Stylebook
Fox’s latest phony controversy designed to make you hate other media outlets is the AP Stylebook’s revision that removes the use of “illegal immigrant” in favor of saying “how someone entered the country illegally and from where.” Predictably, the three co-hosts of Fox & Friends disparaged the change, with Steve Doocy going so far as to allege – without a bit of evidence – that it was made to “cheerlead” and help “push” immigration reform in Congress. Meanwhile, either nobody knew or else did not care that their own Fox News Latino had already dropped the term after finding that Latinos are offended by it.
