Was The French ‘Daily Show’ The Real Reason Fox News Apologized About The ‘No Go Zones’?

It turns out that Le Petit Journal, the French version of The Daily Show, did a lot more to yank Fox’s Islamophobic chain than the one segment we previously posted about.

As we've previously reported, Fox apologized several times over the weekend for its bogus reporting of Muslim “no go zones” in Europe. After being the object of major ridicule. Besides the hilarious Le Petit Journal mockery of a Fox “expert” who said France’s “no go zones” reminded him of Iraq and Afghanistan, British Prime Minister David Cameron called another Fox “expert” a “complete idiot” for saying that Birmingham had gone “totally Muslim.”

Now, a New York Times article, “Fox News Becomes the Unwilling Star of a French TV Satire” reveals that Le Petit Journal mounted quite the campaign against Fox before the network apologized:

Their comics confronted Fox News correspondents when they spotted them reporting live in Paris. In one video, two of the show’s correspondents pretended to be American journalists venturing into supposedly forbidden areas and, in slapstick fashion, cowering by a Turkish kebab shop and a couscous restaurant and falling to the ground at the sound of a jackhammer.

Representatives of “Le Petit Journal” also showed up at the New York offices of Fox News on Thursday to seek comment, (host Yann) Barthès said, until security turned them away.

Mr. Barthès said that his show was unable to obtain any response from Fox News, so he turned to his viewers for help, giving the email addresses of Fox executives. When the show posted the information on Twitter, he said, they had 7,000 retweets in five minutes.

The theme was picked up by others on social media who expressed mock horror at the “danger” in Paris. A food guide site mapped the best places to dine in the so-called lawless zones, including a bakery where the owner had won awards for baguettes.

So what’s America’s excuse for not hounding (pun intended) Fox into accountability?

To jim armstrong: I’m not sure why you wrote “Your Mr Jindal.” I’m here to tell you he is NOT “our” Mr Jindal. He’s solely the problem of the people in Louisiana who were stupid enough to elect him to office. (And considering the people of Louisiana have allowed the Duck Dynasty idiots to claim the state as theirs, you’ve got to think the state is overflowing with stupid and lacking anything remotely resembling “good sense.”)

The segment in that video, while over the top, isn’t that far over the top. That is EXACTLY fox “news” and A.M. hate radio.

Fortunately for France they don’t have Fox “News” there. I am heartened by the fact that they have a “Daily Show.”

Very simply put – money. FOX has a successful business model that makes big bucks. In America, all things are secondary to the worship of the Almighty Dollar. If the day ever comes that Americans as a whole realize that money and profit are NOT the most important thing in the world, that concepts like truth, honor, and integrity actually mean something, we might get out of this mess we’ve created for ourselves. But I don’t see it happening anytime soon.

It’s the Republican mantra – screw you, I got mine.

To the rest of the world Foxnews tell lies every day and are seen as absurd ,in the US it is normal for a news station to lies to the people, the people have accepted that and are afraid to confront them, the rest of the world is not afraid of Foxnews because we understand what they are doing and it would be illegal in most Western countries to do what they are doing. You are not allowed to lie on the new.
