Joseph West commented on Fox’s Martha MacCallum Fear Mongers That Same Sex Marriage Ruling Will Lead To Three People Getting Married

I guess Martha hasn’t read her Bible. According to it, “traditional marriage” usually involved three people (though it was almost exclusively one man and multiple women).
Allowing three people to marry actually has Biblical precedent in the story of Jacob. Granted, he was tricked into marrying the first woman, but he ended up marrying the second woman anyway—because he wanted her that much. Why should the courts deny that “tradition”—especially since there’s nothing in the Bible that actually described a “God-ordained marriage?” And with RFRA, why can’t more than 2 people get married? You know, because it’s a “deeply held religious belief.”

Oh, there are so many clips from “The Jeffersons” I’d love to link to here.
I can only imagine how George and Louise Jefferson would react to anything Kevin Jackson says.
Oh, screw it. (Warning: The following clips contain the N-word so don’t play if you’re overly sensitive. But, Louise and George Jefferson say it best. Louise’s best reaction comes at about 10 seconds in the first clip. George’s comes at about the 50 second mark in the second clip.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWbnGviamC8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYa91TmQQTg
If I were more talented and had a little more savvy with mashing up videos, I’d do a mash-up of both with the Jeffersons telling Jackson where it’s at.
Anyone else get the impression if someone white said that Jackson was “uppity,” he’d take offense at it? You know—he comes off as the “free speech for me, but not for thee” type.

Well, to be honest, the suit should have NEVER made it to SCOTUS in the first place. In what freakin’ reality does anyone think that a few words—taken out of context—should be enough to undo a contract or piece of legislation?
I’ll guarantee you that CONservatives would scream bloody murder if a liberal/progressive decided to take some law passed by GOP teabaggers and sought to overturn it because they found a simple passage and chose to pull it out of context.
Of course, Roberts and Kennedy might have been a touch more willing to side with the plaintiffs if the GOP in Congress had managed to produce even the slightest hint of something that would REPLACE the ACA so that it didn’t hurt the people who most depend on it. But, it’s so much easier to call for overturning a law than it is to work towards replacing it.
Or, maybe Roberts and Kennedy decided to follow the law (as they’re supposed to do—according to CONservatives) instead of “legislating from the bench” (as Scalia’s dissent would have done). Any lawyer worth his or her salt will tell you that you simply do NOT do what the plaintiffs did; otherwise, there’s no law at all that could survive a court challenge (unless, of course, you find a corrupt, partisan judge willing to put “party above the law”).

Oh, how the righties have their tighty-whities in the wrong bunch!
What Starnes conveniently forgets is that the Confederate BATTLE flag was first used in the post-Civil War era by the KKK, and its sole purpose was to intimidate the newly-freed Blacks.
He also conveniently forgets that the current “battle” over the flag is the DIRECT result of white supremacists (almost exclusively in the South) using the flag to symbolize DEFIANCE against the Federal government’s decision to enforce school desegregation laws as well as pressing for full rights to Blacks (while bigotry itself wasn’t limited to the South, you didn’t see white legislatures in Michigan, California and New Jersey raising the Battle flag to display their bigotry). The flag that’s come under such criticism in recent days in South Carolina did NOT fly over the State Capitol (or any other State government building) until 1961—on the 100th anniversary of the day that Confederate forces fired on the Union garrison at Fort Sumter. As a sidenote, just 13 years earlier, the flag started making a return to prominence conservative Southern racist Democrats (who would later become the Dixiecrats) started protesting Truman’s desegregating the military. And at that year’s Democratic convention, Southern delegates were raucous and waved Confederate flags in support of Georgia Senator Russell’s nomination against Truman. When Truman got the nomination, these Democrats split to form the avowedly racist, segregationist Dixiecrat Party (officially the States’ Rights Democratic Party) and won the full electoral votes of four states (LA, MI, AL, and, of course, SC; the party also got 1 elector from TN).
Kind of ironically, the current state flag of SC (the blue field with the palmetto and crescent moon) was first adopted after the state seceded and was retained after the War.

The problem with this petition is that it would be far more effective if it targeted FoxNoise’s SPONSORS.
Of course, Color of Change has hit FoxNoise in the past with limited success (they were somewhat successful with Glenn Beck although it took two years from their initial campaign against Beck before he was “released” from FoxNoise) so I don’t really foresee anything happening here.
The sponsors need to be hit where it hurts before any network makes significant changes to its operations or staff. And considering how insular the network is now, it’s not likely that it’s going to change for a “bunch of outsiders”—no matter how those “outsiders” are affected by the network’s propaganda.

Joseph West commented on Fox’s Katie Pavlich: Obama And Clinton Would Take Away MLK’s Gun!

Someone might want to remind Katie that right-wing superhero, Ronald Reagan, actually signed legislation that actually DID try to “take away MLK’s gun*.” It came in response while he was (Republican) Governor of California to the actions of Huey Newton and the Black Panthers. In fact, Reagan was quoted in 1967 as saying, “There’s no reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded weapons.” That came primarily because the Black Panthers had the audacity to go to Sacramento and, fully armed (but perfectly legally at the time), entered the Capitol building and did nothing more than watch the proceedings from the viewers’ chambers. News reporters, though, saw the opportunity to photograph all these “scary” Black men (and a few women) with guns (simply being carried in a NON-threatening manner) and guess what showed up on the front pages the next day.
And, rather ironically, the laws that Reagan signed only came under scrutiny when certain whites realized that they too were subject to the restrictions. That’s when the NRA began its morphing into the current nuthouse it is today. The laws that Reagan signed had been intended as a response to the Black Panthers street policing activities but, legally, could NOT specifically be restricted only to Blacks.
*Okay, it wasn’t MLK’s gun specifically, but MLK would certainly have been subjected to the laws as other Blacks were. Incidentally, when King applied for a concealed-carry permit AFTER HIS HOME HAD BEEN FIREBOMBED, he was denied—by the WHITE powers that be. You’d think that such an extreme case of violence would’ve merited a concealed-carry permit, but, isn’t it funny that it wasn’t? (It didn’t, however, keep King from being protected by open-carry supporters—that is, supporters of King, not supporters of open-carry laws—while he was at home. Some reports of the time compared the King home to an armed encampment.)

@ d d and Erich: BUT, if he’d been “better” prepared with facts, he wouldn’t gotten very far. O’Reilly has zero aversion to cutting the mike when a guest’s points might start making his audience question O’Reilly’s superiority. And even if O’Reilly didn’t cut the mike at first, he certainly would’ve interrupted Rutherford at EVERY SINGLE POINT so that nothing Rutherford said would’ve been complete. We’d see something along the lines of
Rutherford: “If I can just get a word in edgewise, Bill….”
BOR: “Well, certainly, go ahead.”
R: “You see, when”
BOR: “I’m not stopping you from talking.”
R: “Yes, Bill, you”
BOR: “I’d never keep a guest from talking.”
R: “But you’re doing”
BOR: "Every guest who’s ever been here knows that I’ll let them make their point.
R: “And I appreciate that but, Bill”
BOR: "Is it my fault that you won’t just answer my questions truthfully?
And, it’s about this point that either Rutherford would be put back on the defensive (and looking like an impertinent, mean-spirited guest) or O’Reilly would “suddenly” find himself having to end the segment.

Kevin, don’t forget that Romney’s health care plan was essentially the same one that the right-wing, conservative think tank, the Heritage Foundation, developed in the mid-1990s as a counter to Hillary’s maligned health care reform package.
So, the GOPers basically turned up their noses to THEIR OWN PLAN, simply because the Kenyan Marxist Socialist Muslim proposed it. (Incidentally, that was just one more point that proved Obama was never the great liberal, leftist Messiah that MoveOn.org and similar left-leaning organizations were selling in 2007/8. Again, their whole support for Obama was based on something that Obama never had to defend politically—a vote on the military authorization bill to attack Iraq. Sure, he took the strong position of being “against the war” from the start, but he was doing so as a legislator from the State of Illinois. He cast a symbolic vote in the Legislature opposing the war, but a vote which didn’t have any real stake in the end. Once elected to the US Senate, his positions on virtually everything, except women’s issues, were identical to Hillary’s. He even pointedly made a statement supporting the war, to the effect, since the President had committed us, we should support the troops—a stance that Hillary also held. But I digress…….)

Gutfeld: “This thing that’s from America Rising was out of context, and when companies do stuff like that, we no longer trust you.”
So, we should expect him to denounce James O’Keefe any day now, right? (And, to a lesser extent, Jesse Watters?)
Yeah. I expect there’ll be two feet of snow in Miami on the Fourth of July before Gutfeld’s brief foray into honesty will result in any other sense of outrage at deceptive videos by right-wing groups or individuals.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
So, can we expect another shock from Gutfeld or will he just let this deceptive video stand (since it came from in-house)?
