Donald Trump Is Speaking Warmly About Fox News Again

Donald Trump has stopped attacking Fox News again and is even saying positive things about the network again.

In case you've lost track of whether Trump and Fox are on again or off again, they're officially off again but with a promise of on again since Fox announced that its executives will meet with Trump next week to "discuss their differences of opinion regarding Fox's coverage of Mr. Trump's presidential campaign" and deal with their "misunderstandings."

In the meanwhile, Trump seems to have stopped his Twitter tirades against Fox - for now, anyway. He even tweeted his thanks to Fox's Frank Luntz who, in turn, said something positive about him. Luntz and Trump have previously butted heads.

More significantly, Media Matters caught up with Trump yesterday at the Values Voter Summit and asked when he expects to return to the Fox News airwaves. Trump replied, "We'll see, we'll see. They have to treat me fairly and I'm sure they will. I'm sure they will."

For the record, this is the third truce between Fox and Trump. I have no reason to believe this one will last, either.

Watch Trump tell Media Matters that he's "sure" Fox will treat him fairly again, below.

I agree that there is no shred of evidence that Trump and Ailes are playing games. But I still say Trump is playing. My magic 8 Ball sez so.

Eyes on Fox,

You are so right (as in “true”).

If the welcome mat is always left out for thoroughly discredited Dick Cheney, just how hard is it to ascend Bullshit Mountain?

Ellen,

I’m confident you’re right if for no other reason than the feud doesn’t make Fox News nor Roger Ailes look good. Trump? Per his norm, he looks like the triumphant spoiled child getting away with another temper tantrum. I can’t see Roger sacrificing himself or GOP TV™ to boost The Donald. Unlike the WWF analogy, I don’t see Fox News leveraging this embarrassing conflict into higher ratings but it will be interesting to see if there is some bump.

I still find it hilarious The Donald and his drooling conservative fans suddenly see GOP TV™ as biased because, for example, they pounded him at the debate on taking a Republican loyalty oath or Megyn went after his misogyny yet he doesn’t get a fraction of the abuse of Democrats GOP TV™ sees as a political threat like Hillary, Obama, Reed, or Pelosi. “Fair and balanced” apparently translates into even-handed – no, inoffensive to the supporters – of all stripes of conservatives (e.g., Tea Party, establishment Republican, Libertarian) when GOP TV™ isn’t smearing Democrats. ;^)

Although I would not put it past Trump or Fox to fake a feud, I feel pretty certain that is not at all what is happening here. In case you missed it or forgot, here is my post from last month in which I give six reasons why I think the animosity is for real.

http://www.newshounds.us/six_reasons_the_trump_feud_with_fox_news_is_probably_not_a_fake_083015

And here’s why I think the feud will continue on and off.

The reason it feels fake, IMO, is because Fox’s coverage of Trump is so (pardon the pun) trumped up. First they love him, then they go out of their way to dis him, then they slobber over him again, etc.

I agree with Lakeview Greg and Truman. This is pure scripted from the WWE.

Unfortunately, it’s impossible to discuss ‘politics’ with anyone who supports someone who GUARANTEES that he will make everyone say “Merry Christmas” at holiday time. Of course, asking for specifics as to how that would be accomplished would be just more BS being lumped on the Donald, eh?

Cheryl Jackson,

“Tell me if ANY, even ONE candidate has gotten such BS treatment as Trump? NOT a single one!”

This is hilarious. The assumption is “ANY… ONE candidate” means Republicans only. GOP TV™ runs 100% smears of Hillary. Prior to considering Biden a useful tool to knock Hillary out of the contest, GOP TV™ never covered him other than mocking him for gaffs. Now they’re fairly positive. ;^)

Could not tell the difference between Fox and a liberal news channel. If you say you are going to be fair and balanced, then you should be.

Roger Ailes is concerned mostly about ratings.

His shrewd move is his attempt to keep more Trump supporters from bailing on Fox News by giving the impression that he is reaching out to Trump.

What transpires at the meeting is secondary.

Trump DOES NOT need the LIES on FOX! They have been in the tank for Bush since day one and the only fair and balanced on there has been Hannity!! O’ Reilly does not directly attack Trump but he lets his HACKERS do it nightly! Lets face it … those who are backing ANY candidate!! Tell me if ANY, even ONE candidate has gotten such BS treatment as Trump? NOT a single one! They sing their praises!! Even that pathetic Jindal? Who BTW is currently under investigation for how horribly he ran or did NOT run his state. I do not believe Trump is thin skinned but he is sick of it and I think he would do better to use other forms of the media OR call them out every single time they LIE, distort or spend half their show attacking him!

L. Greg,

Sorry, can’t see this as a p.r .stunt. Roger Ailes looks like a weak, nervous parent appeasing a misbehaving child throwing a public temper tantrum. Ailes has nearly as large of an ego as The Donald so I can’t imagine Roger likes looking like a limp doormat – which what Trump is using him for.

As I’ve said before, Roger likes playing the role of Republican king-maker and is hedging his bet against the unlikely chance The Donald doesn’t self-destruct before reaching the finish line. Roger will want to crown his creation, Trump, should he win the nomination.

I don’t think this proposed meeting will be a good one. We all know how Trump is. I think it is a trick so that he can gain more voters. Why would he apologize on a whim?

@lakeview greg I agree. The T-Rump vs. Jabba the Ailes “feud” is as real as when wrassling Rowdy Roddy Piper challenged Hulk Hogan to a cage match.

I have said it before and I will say it again, it is a work. Ailes and Trump cooked up this little feud all by themselves for the ratings. Nope, I do not have one iota of evidence. But it looks like a duck and walks like a duck…
Eyes On Fox commented 2015-09-26 10:28:14 -0400 · Flag
As I said earlier, you’ll never see Roger Ailes meet with Hillary Clinton to ensure Fox News’ coverage of her shifts from 100% negative to fair and balanced. Meanwhile GOP TV™ has rapidly laid out the red carpet 3 times to coax The Donald back into the fold.

I also predicted earlier (not that it takes a Nostradamus) right-wing spin-meister Frank Luntz would quickly flip on The Donald. He clearly flipped a while back and now appears the reliable poodle amazingly reworking boos into cheers. Proof no matter how transparently stupid the spin, conservatives will bobble-head. ;^)

Not that America’s biggest egomaniac, Trump, gets irony but one can’t help but be amused → thin skinned ← Trump is diaper filling GOP TV™ is unfair to him (though far easier than on any Dem) than The Donald has been on GOP TV™ personalities like Megyn who he’s heaped misogyny upon.

Ailes is still struggling to steer the Republican clown car but the right-wing angst his propaganda unleashed is like opening Pandora’s Box and Roger can’t seem to shut the lid back down much less coax the loons back in. ;^)
