Ben Carson Accuses Obama Administration Of Deliberately Depressing The Economy – To Keep People On Social Programs

Posted by Ellen -7842.60pc on May 27, 2014 · Flag

It’s hard to go too far with an Obama conspiracy theory on Fox but Dr. Ben Carson managed to do it on The Kelly File last week. He shocked even Megyn Kelly when he told her that “some people” want others on welfare and are deliberately holding the economy down in order to keep them on it. Carson couldn’t say “exactly” who these people are but it was pretty clear he meant the Obama administration.

Carson appeared on The Kelly File on May 22 after he "fired up" The View, as FoxNews.com put it, over his comments about welfare.

“Do you think that people who are on welfare want to be on welfare?” Kelly asked.

Not only did Carson think so, he saw some kind of conspiracy going on:

I think some do. I think some people have that as a way of life. It’s generational. It’s inter-generational. And after the great progress that we made after the struggles of the civil right (sic) movement, I think perhaps the worst thing that happened is a lot of – some well-meaning and some not so well-meaning - folks came along and started patronizing these individuals and saying, “Oh, you can’t really do anything and you know, we’ll take care of you, you’ll be OK.” In some cases, it was to assuage their guilt. In some cases, they genuinely felt that they couldn’t really help themselves.

…We’re going from a can-do society to a “what can you do for me?” society. That never leads to the elevation of a society. That always leads to the decline of a society. …I’m happy for people who truly need help to get help. And, like I said before, you know, we have the ability in this nation to get the economy moving. I actually believe that perhaps some of the things that are going on right now - which could be easily remedied - are not being remedied in order to keep the economy depressed. Because there would be no appetite for many of the social programs if people were doing well.

Kelly broke in. She asked, obviously incredulous, “What, are you thinking President Obama and his colleagues are up there saying, ‘How can we keep unemployment high? How can we keep the American society down?’”

Carson continued:

I think there may be some people – I don’t know exactly who they are – but it seems to me like it would be relatively easy to fix some of this stuff. Everybody agrees. The president has said. The Republicans have said. The Democrats have said that our corporate tax rate, which is the highest in the world needs to be lowered. Have they lowered it? No. Have they done anything about our arcane, just ridiculous taxation system? No. Do they talk about it? Yes.

Carson may be a brilliant surgeon but he sure is a dope in a lot of other arenas. Just two days later, he called the VA scandal “a gift from God” to show us the upcoming evils of ObamaCare. You may recall that last fall, he called ObamaCare “the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery. ...(I)t is slavery in a way, because it is making all of us subservient to the government, and it was never about health care. It was about control.”

Watch Carson expound his conspiracy theory below.

Christopher: Not particularly convincing but I’d give you a “D” for trying.

Visitor 55: I’m also flabbergasted whenever someone who had the luck to overcome poverty thanks to some form of temporary assistance could then turn around and deny that same assistance to others. Typical of the haves who don’t want to share (aka “I’ve got mine, buzz off!”). And this guy wants to run for President?

PS: he may be a fine neurosurgeon but the fact is that his own professional association is not in agreement with him. Opportunistic is how I’d call it.

Opposing free healthcare shows you the depth of his callous attitude toward the poor and totally undermines any points he was trying to make about disincentivizing people from working.

I think God is just about ready to call on him to run for President. I’m sure all of the black people will vote for him because he is black just like they voted for Obama only because he is black. Ben Carson must
be the answer to the Republican’s dream. Their winning strategery.

Here’s how Heritage Action for America calculates the points they give to members of Congress:

How scores are calculated:

Scores are calculated using both votes and bills. Voting with the Heritage Action position earns percentage points, voting against our position earns nothing, and missing a vote doesn’t affect the score. Co-sponsoring bills earns percentage points, while not co-sponsoring bills earns nothing.

Correction, the exact name is Heritage Action for America formerly Heritage Foundation.

I second Kevin K’s comments! I was just waiting for the darling Dr. to bring up the economy. This is all Heritage for America propaganda! And, if the dear Dr. wants to talk about control, then he needs to take a good look at Heritage’s scorecard that they so proudly display on their website. For everything they lobby for, they give points to the members of Congress (GOP) that give them what they want! You know the whole “shut down” mess? Yeppers, that was Heritage and the Doc is very friendly with them.

Also, Heritage will deny it , but some of the key components of Obamacare was actually their idea! The same way Romney lied and tried to convince us that MA healthcare program is nothing like the ACA.

Just because he’s a surgeon doesn’t mean that he knows much about politics. As his public statements have proven.

This isn’t a matter of conspiracies. It’s a matter of Carson trying to smear people he doesn’t like, as he has done in the past with this President. He doesn’t get to throw smears and untrue statements around, and then hide behind Fox News.

Mealy-mouthed POS.
Surgery on brains seems the closest he’ll ever get to one.

This is typical of the projection and denial going on both in the GOP and at Fox News.

Let me see if I understand Carson’s point of view correctly here. Either the Obama Administration or the Democrats are deliberately hurting the economy just to keep people dependent on AFDC and Unemployment Insurance? Is that really his position?

Because he may have missed how the GOP and Fox News have done nothing but talk DOWN the economy over the past 5 1/2 years. He may have missed how the GOP has regularly refused to address actual economic issues in Congress, opting instead to vote on campaign planks like trying to repeal the ACA 50 times. He may also have missed how the GOP and Fox News tried to deny that a recession was happening during the 2008 election, with Sean Hannity actually screaming at a guest who tried to show him otherwise. He may have missed how the GOP and Fox News suddenly discovered the recession when President Obama took office, and then tried to pin the whole thing on him and the Democrats.

It frankly takes a lot of nerve for someone to do what Ben Carson is attempting here – he’s trying to literally rewrite history that is actually happening as we speak. He has a sympathetic ear while he does this kind of thing at Fox News, but I don’t know that this kind of nonsense plays very well anywhere else.

Uncle Ben is not smart enough to realize that once he decides not to run for president, the GOP and the Fox “News” frauds will toss him aside, just like they did with Herman Cain. Very rare you hear Cain’s name mentioned on this fraudulent “network.”

The GOP is using Uncle Ben to draw more minorities to the base. The GOP is desperate to win the presidential race, and another devastating loss would mean its demise.

Conservatives are lining his pocket-for now, but he’s in for a rude awakening.

NOTE TO CARSON

This is you, Carson http://youtu.be/znQe9nUKzvQ

“…but it seems to me like it would be relatively easy to fix some of this stuff.” Fixing things takes action – he just has no clue that he himself is a member of the Do-Nothing Party.

Some say that when Bonehead Ben spews out his crackpot conspiracy theories that he is actually channeling Glenn Becktard.
