Roger Ailes Gets The Stephen Colbert Treatment
Stephen Colbert set his comedic sights on the news that Roger Ailes tried to recruit General David Petraeus to run for president. Funny stuff, as usual... and at their expense! (h/t Connie M.)

Although I've been reporting my suspicions (and other people's) about the truthfulness and integrity of Fox News contributor Steven Crowder's report of being assaulted by pro-union "thugs" at a Lansing, Michigan union protest of "right-to-work" legislation, Crowder's dishonesty is no longer in doubt. His video has been shown to be selectively edited and he has admitted pushing the man who later hit him (after pretending otherwise).

The "fiscal cliff" is coming in January if Congress and the President do not agree on a deal, and Fox is suddenly concerned about its consequences for the Judicial Branch. Fox News' website reports that the "federal court system is bracing for the possibility of thousands of layoffs or furloughs" if no deal is reached.

It is good to see Fox concerned for a fellow human being, since all too often empathy for the poor, the working class, women, etc, seems to be lacking at the network. FoxNews.com reports that Dr. Shakeel Afridi, the doctor who helped the US track down Bin Laden, is being tortured in a Pakastani prison, according to his family.

The cognitive dissonance of Bill O'Reilly is nowhere more evident than his attitude towards gays. While he claims that he is down with gay marriage, because he "wants gays to be happy," he also claims that gay marriage is part of a mythical "secular-progressive" agenda bent on destroying "traditional" values which, one assumes, include nice, happy heterosexual marriage like Bill's (just kidding!). But not content with promoting this meme alone, O'Reilly is now attempting to present those who support gay marriage as violent anarchists. The trouble is that his example is a chaotic Parisian protest, between a small group of Ukrainian "Femen" protesters and a larger group of French Catholics. While Bill claims that it's wrong to say that those who oppose gay marriage are homophobic, the intent of this bizarre segment was clearly to paint gays as violent thugs and that's really wrong - actually, it's homophobic.

Steven Crowder, the Fox News contributor and Breitbart acolyte who admits he went to Lansing, Michigan union protests looking for trouble and is now touting, with a lot of help from Fox News, a highly-edited video showing him getting punched by “union thugs,” was on Hannity again tonight. But this time, there was another guest who accused Crowder of pushing the man to the ground first. Hannity denied that happened. But Crowder never did.
