Steve Doocy Provides Cheese For Young Republican Whine
While Fox News advances the meme that those who dare to advocate for minority rights are part of the "grievance industry," they provide a platform for any and every right wing group claiming to have been aggrieved by the forces of evil secularism and the evil liberal agenda. Fox & Friends, in particular, is always eager to host a pity party involving persecuted Christians, patriotism under attack, and so forth. And when young Republicans have a grievance, the gang on the curvy couch is there to provide warm affirmation. Such was the case, this morning, when yet another aggrieved young Republican whined about how those nasty, bad liberals, at the University of North Carolina, have cut their funding while nasty, bad liberal groups get more than their fair share. That, of course, wasn't really the full story; but then, this is Fox & Friends. Anyway, poor conservative students. Somebody call me a whambulance!
Read moreDonald Rumsfeld Scolds Obama For Not Pushing Regime Change In Syria
Donald Rumsfeld is back and Fox News has not just forgotten how he resigned in disgrace as Secretary of Defense in the last Bush administration but is actively rehabilitating him as some kind of sage with standing to criticize President Obama’s Syria policy.
Read moreHannity Attacks McCain Over ‘Allahu Akbar’ But Doesn’t Prove Him Wrong
Yesterday morning, John McCain smacked down Fox & Friends’ Brian Kilmeade’s ignorant Islamophobia over the phrase “Allahu akbar.” By coincidence, a team of Fox News talking heads attacked John McCain. But not one of them proved McCain wrong when he said that rather than being some radical Jihadi phrase, it merely meant the equivalent of “Thank God.”
Read moreAnn Coulter: If Only Syria Could Be More Like The ‘Magnificent Success’ Of The Iraq War!
Ann Coulter reprised her role as a Middle East war expert on Fox News last night. Once again, she treated a serious and grave situation, with potentially wide-ranging ramifications, as little more than a springboard for her childishly inflammatory “wit.” But something tells me that a lot of viewers were laughing at her and not with her as she wished that military action in Syria would be the same kind of “magnificent success” the Iraq war was - until President Obama botched it.
Read moreTodd Starnes Attacks John McCain Over Allahu Akbar Meaning
I suspect that if - say - some godless librul pundit had insulted John McCain, during the 2008 presidential race, Todd Starnes would have declared that said person was dishonoring an American war hero. But flash forward to 2013 and Starnes (despite his awesome machismo and extraordinary patriotism never served) is attacking Sen. John McCain as President Obama's "water carrier." True story. McCain has earned Starnes' wrath because the Senator recently schooled Brian, "all terrorists are Muslims, Kilmeade about the real meaning of Allahu Akbar which, in Starnes Jesus loving, homo hating, Islamophobic world is an Islamic war cry and not, as described by McCain, analogous to "Thank God" which is, of course, what good Christians say when abortion doctors get killed. Yesterday, on Fox News Insider, good Christian Toddles not only mocked McCain; but encouraged readers to do some serious trash talking about the senator. Praise Jesus?!
Read moreBill O'Reilly's Sexual/Racial Double Standard Re Miley Cyrus
Much has been made, by pundits from across the ideological spectrum, about Miley Cyrus' performance at the VMA awards. But Bill O'Reilly's take is interesting in that it not only exposes his patriarchal sexism; but a double standard regarding sex and race, vis-à-vis the entertainment industry and society at large. O'Reilly has long been obsessed with Cyrus's actions and even wardrobe. While it seems consistent with his patriarchal misogyny, his verbal spankings, from a Freudian perspective, raise some serious questions. Not surprisingly, O'Reilly's commentary about Cyrus' performance at the VMA's was a reflection of his own paternalistic views in that he scolded Cyrus' father for not scolding Miley. Meanwhile, he ignores Robin Thicke's grinding against Cyrus while singing a song that is degrading to women. There is another double standard. O'Reilly doesn't feel that the actions of the white Miley Cyrus have any implications for white society - but in denigrating the African-American community, he blames, in part, rap music.
Read moreFox's Napolitano Suddenly Against Congressional Approval For Military Strike - Now That Obama's For It
If ever you needed proof that Fox News reflexively opposes whatever President Obama stands for, regardless of the underlying issues or ethics, check out judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano’s flip-flop on the subject of whether or not President Obama should seek Congressional approval before a military strike.
Read moreJohn McCain Smacks Down Brian Kilmeade’s Islamophobic Ignorance
John McCain appeared on Fox & Friends this morning where the hosts immediately questioned his conservative bona fides by saying he had just missed Laura Ingraham echoing “many Republicans” in saying that McCain is “flip-flopping” on his support for President Obama. And “She feels as though you’re bailing (Obama) out – a misguided, confused policy.” But McCain had the last laugh. (H/T Think Progress)
Read moreStuart Varney Gets An Earful From A Real Labor Advocate
Finally, a real voice on behalf of working class people on Fox News! And on Labor Day! Mark Brenner, of Labor Notes, was not one of those mealy-mouthed Democrats who seem more interested in showing how willing they are to suck up to Fox News hosts than they are in advocating their side. In fact, Brenner pretty much talked rings around host Stuart Varney on Your World yesterday.
Read moreTodd Starnes' Newest Homophobic Screed: 'Militant Homosexuals' 'Forced' Christian Bakers To Close Doors
On the top left hand corner of Fox News.com is the Fox News logo under which is the trademark Fox "fair & balanced" slogan. Yet, on today's home page, there is a secondary lede headline which reads, as Fox fact, "Punished for Beliefs, Todd's American Dispatch, Bakery Loses Gay Battle." The headline is linked to an article in which "Toddles" Starnes treats us to his trademark homophobia which, in this case, is a big, fat whine about how Christian bakers were forced to shut down their bakery after "militant homosexuals" protested the bakers' refusal to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple. Poor Toddles is upset that his fellow Christians have to follow nasty laws that say you can't discriminate against those nasty gays who are being so intolerant. Yeah, I know, WTF!
