Jeanine Pirro Pushes Fox Lie That HHS Mandate Covers Abortion Drugs
As the media mouthpiece for the anti-choice movement and the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, Fox News has been unwavering in its support for opposition to the HHS birth control mandate which has exempted churches and provided a mechanism by which religious non-profits and educational institutions can invoke their exemption to allow their insurance carriers to cover the cost of birth control. In promoting the bishop's position, Fox News has promoted their claim that the mandate covers abortion inducing drugs including emergency contraception which is only considered an "abortifacient" by the Catholic Church and not the medical community. (It prevents ovulation) On January 4th, Fox host and GOP hack Jeanine Pirro kept the lie going - by my count from only the programs that I reviewed - for the *11th time.

The Daily Show’s Samantha Bee offered up an amazing and oddball comically dramatic interpretation of Fox News’ The Five. It pretty much defies explanation but it involves what she called “a story as old as time, a story of love” between co-hosts Greg Gutfeld and Dana Perino.
Read moreOn Fox & Friends: Administration's Anti-Catholicism Prompted Vatican Embassy Move?
Given their concern for excessive government spending, at taxpayer expense, you would think that the right wing would applaud the administration's decision to save taxpayer money by moving US Vatican embassy staff from a separate building to a compound shared by the US Italian embassy in Rome. But oh, no, certain right wing, anti-Obama Catholic zealots have their rosary beads in a bunch over what they consider to be part of the President's war on Catholics - a meme constantly aided and abetted by Fox News in their support for the Catholic bishops' opposition to the HHS birth control mandate. In late 2012, Fox did two pieces in which a former Vatican ambassador and big GOP honcho Jim Nicholson whined about the move. And this morning - drum roll please - he appeared on Fox & Friends, Fox's premier show for aggrieved Christians, for more whining!
Read moreCavuto Trots Out Godfather Actor To ‘Joke’ About Clinton’s ‘Enemies List’ As Some Kind Of Mob Hit List
“Only the Godfather came remotely close,” Fox News host Neil Cavuto said yesterday, about the news that Hillary Clinton aides kept a list of political endorsers and non-endorsers in 2008. Even though there is no evidence of retribution by the Clintons against anyone on the list. And then, insisting he was just having fun – at Clinton’s expense – Cavuto trotted out actor Gianni Russo, from The Godfather, “who knows a thing or two about lists.”
Read moreDick Morris Returns To Fox News – To Help Make Christie Scandal About Hillary Clinton
Dick Morris was back (again) on Fox last night. And just in time to help divert attention away from the growing Chris Christie “Bridgegate” scandal and trump up Hillary Clinton’s “enemies list” as a bigger scandal. Just pay no attention to Morris’ disgraceful and discredited record or his long-standing grudge against Hillary Clinton. Fox News certainly didn’t mention it.

I don't know if Roger Ailes is a fan of ZZ Top; but it's apparent that he sure does love female anchor's legs and "knows how to use them." As Gabriel Sherman reports in his new book about Roger Ailes, "The Loudest Voice in the Room," Ailes is obsessed with displaying the legs of Fox female anchors. Sherman confirms the existence of the "leg chair" on "The Five." (While Andrea Tantaros was slated for this piece of furniture, former Victoria's Secret model Kimberly Guilfoyle seems to be the primary occupant.) This obsession with legs might have also been confirmed by Gretchen Carlson who admitted that pants were not allowed on Fox & Friends where the curvy couch provides maximum exposure for shapely "gams." And now that Gretch has her own show, she's still not wearing pants!
Read moreFox Propaganda Priest Fr. Gerald Murray Pimps Obama Hates Nuns Meme
As the mouthpiece for the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, Fox News has been stalwart in its validation of the bishops' opposition to the contraception mandate in the Affordable Care Act - the bishops' views on poverty and immigration, not so much. And owing to their lawsuit against this mandate, the Little Sisters of the Poor have become poster children for Fox News to use as a means to reinforce the Catholic right wing and GOP narrative that Pres. Obama hates the one true Fox church. (Roger Ailes' Catholic wife is a big award winning Catholic fund raiser.) So who better to reinforce this message, in a fair & balanced way than a Catholic priest. And while Father Gerald Murray doesn't get the Fox face time that Fox first stringer Fr. Jonathan Morris gets, he is every bit as ideological and partisan as Morris. Last Wednesday, the non-partisan (just kidding) Jeanine Pirro provided Murray with a pulpit from which to preach the Fox gospel of hate.
Read moreGabriel Sherman: Roger Ailes Took It Upon Himself To Run Mitt Romney’s Media Strategy
In an interview with Piers Morgan last night, author Gabriel Sherman gave some fascinating insights into just how Roger Ailes uses Fox News as a political messaging tool. Ailes’ own politics are “quite extreme,” according to Sherman. But, as a “brilliant political strategist,” he has worked through moderates to win elections. That’s why he has used Fox to take the side of Mitt Romney and Chris Christie, despite his own personal distaste for them.
Read moreMary Katharine Ham Vs. O’Reilly Re Marijuana Legalization – Round 2
In case you missed it, Bill O’Reilly engaged in a rather contentious debate with Fox News contributor Mary Katharine Ham last week over the legalization of marijuana. O’Reilly accused Ham of “babbling” as she tried to explain why she thinks pot should be legalized. Last night, she was back for Round Two. O'Reilly continued attacking her unfairly.
