Laura Ingraham Defends Phil Robertson's Homophobia, Attacks GLAAD
Whenever Bill Maher, or any other evil secularist, says anything deemed offensive by Catholics, the Catholic League's Bill Donohue immediately goes into outrage overdrive. But in the bizarro world of the right wing, when an LGBT advocacy group reacted to the homophobic comments of the Duck Dynasty "patriarch," GLAAD was accused of being a bully - a meme aided and abetted on Fox News. Last week, Laura Ingraham, filling in for Bill O'Reilly, doubled down on the GLAAD as bully meme in accusing them of "attacking" (real) America's favorite network homophobe. Oh, and she also did some whitewashing of Robertson's racially ignorant comments about those happy, singing black people.

Fox & Friends has been steadfast in pimping the US Conference of Catholic Bishop's opposition to the HHS mandate which requires employer health plans to provide free birth control. And despite the administration's efforts to form a compromise with religious non-profits (churches are exempt), by having the insurer cover the cost, the world's oldest men's club Catholic bishops have been steadfast in their opposition to the mandate - despite the reality that they employ women who are not bound by Catholic theology on those evil slut pills that are taken by a vast majority of Catholic women. In none of the many segments, which I covered, were there any guests who defended the mandate. Fox hosts, the majority Catholic, made no attempt to rebut the Catholic position which was advanced by several right wing Catholic priests and a Catholic bishop. Yesterday, Steve Doocy interviewed the new head bishop honcho about the mandate. Good Catholic Doocy kept on pimping!
Read moreCoulter Accuses Harris-Perry Of Inventing Racism: "There Is More Cholera" In The U.S. Than Racism
Believe it or not, Fox is still attacking MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry for joking about Mitt Romney’s African American grandson. So who did Sean Hannity present as an arbiter of taste and sensitivity on the subject? None other than hatemonger, murder fantasizer and serial voter fraud suspect, Ann Coulter. She showed her sensitivity alright – by saying that black people don’t live in New York apartments, because of “all the rich people.” And announcing that liberals have to invent racism because “There is more cholera in America than there is racism.” And more.

While the "fair & balanced" Fox News gave scant, if any, attention to the social justice message of the "nuns on the bus," the Little Sisters of the Poor have become a cause célèbre because of their lawsuit over having to sign an opt-out form to trigger their exemption from the HHS birth control mandate. This, of course, dovetails nicely with the patented Fox meme of persecuted Christians at the hands of anti-Christian forces led by our anti-Christian president. Last week, Megyn Kelly, in an emotional interview with a lawyer representing the nuns, made no secret of her support for the poor Sisters of the Poor. In keeping with the Fox script, she suggested that the president is, for no reason, persecuting these nuns. This morning, famous "dick" and proud gay basher Tucker Carlson, reinforced the narrative.

Chris Wallace joined the pile-on against MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry yesterday in his interview with Mitt Romney. In fact, Wallace put the matter right up there with ObamaCare and the winter Olympics in his introduction to Romney. Unfortunately for Fox News, Romney refused to take the (race) bait.

As they did with Terri Schiavo, the "pro-life" movement is making the case of Jahi McMath, a teenager who is now brain dead after a tonsillectomy, a cause célèbre. As they did with Terri Schiavo, in disputing the diagnoses of and actions take by medical experts, they are suggesting that those entrusted with the patient's medical care are murderers. On his Saturday night show, Fox's Mike Huckabee not only advanced this narrative but doubled down by comparing the removal of McMath's life support system to abortions - and, the Holocaust. Yeah, he went there.

For the last several weeks, we’ve had some pretty predictable winners of our Fox News Outrageous Quote of the Week Poll. But this week, I'm not so sure. Our subjects include Catholicism, NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio, the New York Times, dissing Americans who support raising the minimum wage and more – plus a foul-mouthed partying babe who helped Fox ring in 2014. Put your thinking caps on!
Read moreSarah Palin Forgets Her Commitment To Free Speech Just In Time To Attack MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry
In case you’ve missed it, Fox News is making racial attacks on MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry again. The excuse this time is Harris-Perry’s remarks about Mitt Romney’s African American grandson – for which she has profusely apologized. But while Fox News contributor Sarah Palin was oh-so-stirring in her “free speech” defense of Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson’s insulting remarks about gays and blacks – she has suddenly lost her First Amendment fervor and is now on her high horse with holier-than-thou sensitivity on behalf of the Romney family.
Read moreFox News Sunday Guest: God Doesn’t Want Nuns To Sign ObamaCare Waiver
Today on Fox News Sunday, Chris Wallace did his part to promote the religious right’s assault on ObamaCare under the cloak of religious liberty – albeit with far more legitimate balance and subtlety than Megyn Kelly’s blatant shilling Friday night. Fortunately for those of us on the other side, there was a good advocate in NARAL Pro-Choice America’s Ilyse Hogue.
