Bill O’Reilly lashed out at Russell Simmons last night for having the nerve to complain about his treatment on The O’Reilly Factor earlier this week. You may recall that when Simmons visited The Factor, O’Reilly spent much of the time haranguing him about Beyoncé and black entertainment. Last night was an excuse to do it all over again.

For Fox News, nothing says real America like the Duck Dynasty family who are raking in the "Benjamin's" whilst promoting their hirsute, backwoods, Christian patriarchy shtick. When the family patriarch, Phil Robertson, made his biblically based God hates fags comments, Fox News *jumped to his defense. Fox's own liaison with the homophobic religious right, Mike Huckabee, said that Robertson's values are America's values. So now that Willie and Korie Robertson are featured in a new Christian movie, "God's Not Dead," it's no surprise that Fox would join its Christian zealots pals, including the hate group, The Family Research Council, in endorsing the movie. This morning, Fox friend Elisabeth Hasselbeck couldn't have been any more effusive in her praise for the movie and the family. She also couldn't have been any more disingenuous in her defense of patriarch Phil's ugly Christian homophobia

Jon Stewart shredded Fox News' war on the poor last night. His monologue was so devastating, so complete and so hilarious that I doubt Eric Bolling, the Fox host whose complaint about Stewart precipitated this response, will ever challenge him on the air again.

Neil Cavuto broke ranks with his Republican Fox News colleagues Tuesday afternoon over President Obama’s appearance on “Between Two Ferns” with Zach Galifianakis. While the others clutched their pearls over Obama going on Funny or Die’s web show, Cavuto gave them a good tongue lashing for their closed-minded, knee-jerk reactions.

When it comes to any perceived insult to Christians and Christianity, Fox News goes into full battle mode with, as Jon Stewart said, "a constant barrage of apocalyptic paranoia and outrage." ("Outrage" being the standard Fox word in any story about persecuted Christians). Last week, we saw a full, frontal Fox propaganda blast related to a lawsuit, filed by atheists, against the placement of the "Ground Zero Cross" in a publicly funded museum. During two discussions on this non-issue, official Fox priest attacked atheists who represent a popular bête noire for Fox. And it's not just atheists who are on Fox's black list. Last Friday, the nice Christians on The Five, who think atheists should leave the country if they're not happy with state sponsored Christianity, underscored why Fox News is the place where "you can bash Islam with impunity." 

As part of his criticism of President Obama’s appearance on Funny or Die's "Between Two Ferns," Bill O’Reilly announced two nights ago, “Abe Lincoln would not have done it.” So Media Matters consulted a Lincoln scholar – and guess what? He strenuously disagrees.

I’ve posted twice about Bill O’Reilly’s complaints that President Obama appeared on Funny or Die’s “Between Two Ferns.” Today, in a Slate interview, the director, Scott Aukerman, answered back that there was little difference between Between Two Ferns and The O’Reilly Factor except that, “we admit we’re a comedy show.”

Believe it or not, Bill O’Reilly’s chief complaint about President Obama appearing on Funny or Die with Zach Galifianakis yesterday seems to be that Obama will be (further) diminished in the eyes of Russia’s Vladimir Putin as a result. It's a neat twofer - attacking Obama for going on the "Between Two Ferns" show in the first place and then using it to clobber him again over Putin. Sadly, the so-called Democratic strategist let O'Reilly get away with it.
