Fox & Friends & Right Wing Vet Advance Conspiracy Theory: Obama Military 'Purge'
Fox News prides itself on its support for the troops. During the Iraq war, Fox News cheered on the troops and the bogus war in which they were fighting. Those who didn't support the war were condemned as traitors who didn't support the troops. And while various veterans groups voiced their opposition to the war and their concern about its negative affects, Fox continued to support the war and avoid talk about the downside. Assisting Fox in this endeavor was Pete Hegseth of the pro-war Vets for Freedom, a political action committee with ties to the GOP and those who funded the "Swiftboaters." And now that the Iraq war is over, Fox has no qualms about using the troops to attack the president and advance not just an agenda, but a conspiracy being promoted by Alex Jones; i.e. that the president is "purging the military." Assisting Fox in this effort is - drum roll please - the aforementioned Pete Hegseth. Meanwhile, the real issue of sexual assault, in the military is being almost ignored. Go figure!

In a typically imbalanced attack on discussion about ObamaCare, Fox News “business show” Cashin’ In was so full of outrageous quotes yesterday, we could probably do an entire Outrageous Quote of the Week poll from just this one show

Fox News has found a way to honor the upcoming 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's assassination and still stay true to its core Republican-promoting, liberal-demonizing agenda: Spin Democrat JFK as a conservative and paint Lee Harvey Oswald as a “silly, squalid little communist.” As we all know, on Fox, “communist” is synonymous with “liberal.”

For the religious right, public displays of Christianity are the true mark of good character. So, several years ago, as part of its unrelenting attempt to impugn Pres. Obama's character, Fox News expressed concern about President Obama's church attendance. Obama's involvement of church leaders, in health care reform, was considered "disingenuous" because he hadn't selected a church. Fox Nation asked why the president didn't attend church. Fox priest, Fr. Jonathan Morris, who wasn't judging, oh, no, sweetly questioned how Obama could have faith when - wait for it - he hadn't chosen a church. Bill O'Reilly, who was clearly judging, declared that Obama should attend church more often because "seeing" the president in church is "a good thing." Flash forward to 2013 and the divinely inspired Bill, who judges others on the basis of how their standards comport with his, hasn't changed his tune. In what was purported to be a segment about the President's faith, O'Reilly could barely contain his judgment.

It was another banner week for people who wrote to us thinking we're Fox News. Not surprisingly, much of the mail was about ObamaCare, aka The Affordable Care Act. But racially tinged comments about Richie Incognito and advice for Republicans were also in our inbox. Plus one I don't have the faintest idea what the subject was. So if you're curious to know what Fox News viewers say when they think they're communicating with their favorite network, take a peek...
Read moreFox & Friends Promotes Newest Right Wing Wunderkind's Tirade Against Common Core
The latest source of right wing stress is the "Common Core Curriculum," a federally backed "project by a consortium of states to raise public school standards nationwide." Sounds innocent enough; but according to the usual right wing screamers, it's “about top-down control engineered through government-administered tests and left-wing textbook monopolies" (Michelle Malkin) and a way to indoctrinate students with "extreme leftist ideology." (Glenn Beck). Nazis and Agenda 21 are part the deal. The Fox News website has featured several articles highlighting the opposition. So it's not a surprise that Fox & Friends gush over a Tennessee high school senior who, according to right wing sources, has engaged in an "epic take down of Common Core" (The Daily Caller), presented "one of the best cases ever made against Common Core (The Blaze) in a "devastating speech." (Fox Nation) Not to be outdone in the hyperbole department, Fox & Friends gushed about Nathan Young, who, "decimates" Common Core.

Two nights ago, Megyn Kelly took the second of her two swipes at Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, a feisty Democrat who had called out Fox News’ bias and BS over ObamaCare the night before. Just as she had on The O’Reilly Factor in the previous hour, Kelly’s comments were made without benefit of Emanuel’s ability to respond. But in this instance, Kelly took it a step further. She read into Emanuel’s statements “proof” that President Obama had come up with some kind of covert plan to make people lose their insurance in order to move them to the ObamaCare exchanges. And then she reiterated her suggestions that President Obama had committed a crime.

On yesterday’s Your World, Neil Cavuto opened a discussion about Chris Christie by “asking” if he’s “getting cocky” for having “brazenly violated Presidential Prep 101" and having done "something beyond risky.” Charles Gasparino explained that Christie had invited Steve Cohen of SAC Capital to both his public and private election parties. Gasparino described why “It looks really bad.”
