Hero Student Foils Fox News Plan To Use Houston College Stabbing To Push For Guns On Campus

Posted by Ellen · April 10, 2013 11:58 PM · 9 reactions

Predictably, Fox News used the news of a stabbing spree at a Houston college campus yesterday to advocate for more guns on campus. Today, on America Live, Megyn Kelly hosted hero student Stephen Maida who had tackled the stabber and brought him down with “just my fists.” And for no other apparent reason than to politicize it, she included in the discussion a Texas state senator who made the ridiculous argument that the entire situation proved the need for concealed guns on campus. Unfortunately for him, Maida wasn’t buying it.

Bill O’Reilly Won't Retract His New Orleans Smears

Posted by Ellen · April 10, 2013 9:00 PM · 2 reactions

It looks like we can add New Orleans to the list of places that Bill O’Reilly knows more about than its residents. You may recall that residents of the Big Easy took exception to the sneers and jeers by O’Reilly and Geraldo Rivera Friday night. A group of them wrote a letter to the two hosts, partially reprinted in the Times Picayune, calling the segment “a disservice to New Orleans, America and the truth.” And then, with lengthy statistics and citations to a Wall Street Journal article on the subject, the authors explained why Rivera was wrong to characterize the city as the "Big Sleazy." But I think we can assume O'Reilly will not be retracting anything soon.

Monica Crowley Suggests Women On Welfare Have Children To Get More Government Money

Posted by Ellen · April 10, 2013 6:13 PM · 12 reactions

Tip for News Hounds readers: Whenever you see Monica Crowley on Fox News, you can pretty much expect her to come up with some outlandish, unsubstantiated conspiracy theory. Last night’s case in point: Crowley announced on The O’Reilly Factor: The welfare program in this country was geared toward building incentives so that women would have more and more children out of wedlock because they would get more money based on a child.

Megyn Kelly Uses Hate Group Leader, Tony Perkins, To Attack Episcopal Priest, Episcopal Church

Posted by Priscilla · April 10, 2013 3:05 PM · 3 reactions

In addition to being America's Newsroom, Fox News is also the defender of the faith - Christian that is. While the Catholic Church is Fox's most favored religion, it never wastes an opportunity to defend evangelicals against perceived affronts from evil secularists. But in the "fair & balanced" world of Fox News, not all American religions are created equal. Such was the case last week, when Fox News attacked the Episcopal priest who dared to criticize evangelical leaders during the Easter service at which our secret Muslim president and his family were in attendance. As this inflamed the Christian right, who view the gay affirming Episcopal Church as apostate, it was no surprise that Fox was on it. The "outrage" was advanced by Megyn Kelly's propagandapalooza which used, as a conduit for the "outrage," the head of the homophobic hate group, The Family Research Council. Now that's "fair & balanced" and true Fox Christianity at its finest!

Megyn Kelly’s Selective Outrage About Secret Recordings: Mitch McConnell Edition

Posted by Ellen · April 10, 2013 2:04 PM · 11 reactions

It turns out Megyn Kelly’s adoration of “citizen journalism” – even when it involved illegal recording of ACORN employees - completely vanishes when it’s Republican Senator Mitch McConnell on the unflattering end of public scrutiny. In case you missed it, Mother Jones released a secret tape of McConnell aides plotting how to smear Ashley Judd as a potential opponent for McConnell's senate seat. Instead of paying attention to the substance of what was caught – legally – Kelly helped further McConnell’s narrative of baselessly attacking Democrats.

Todd Starnes: Is 'Baby Daddy' Singular Or Plural Or Both?

Posted by Ellen · April 10, 2013 12:08 PM · 5 reactions

Looks like "good Christian" Todd Starnes is a whole lot more Michelle Malkin and a whole lot less Christ-like when it comes to tweeting. Unless you think that Jesus would approve of the kind of racially-tinged snark Starnes "asked" in a tweet today. UPDATED

Bill O’Reilly Agrees: President Obama’s Cuts To Social Security Are Too Harmful To Low-Income Seniors

Posted by Ellen · April 09, 2013 11:47 PM · 13 reactions

Bill O’Reilly probably stunned his viewers across the country tonight when he spoke out against President Obama’s proposed cuts to Social Security. Citing how his 90 year-old mother would have only Social Security to rely on if he didn’t help out, O’Reilly said about protesters in front of the White House, “Those left-wing groups may have a point.”

O'Reilly And Geraldo Called Out For Dissing New Orleans

Kent Jones, over at The Maddow Blog caught Bill O'Reilly and Geraldo Rivera being taken to task in the New Orleans Times-Picayune over their disparaging comments about the city last Friday night. Among other things, Rivera called it the "Big Sleazy."

Hannity 'Defends' Dr. Carson By Playing The Race Card Against Mainstream African Americans

Posted by Ellen · April 09, 2013 2:57 PM · 7 reactions

Hannity continued his charade of racial sensitivity last night with an entire show devoted to making martyrs out of black conservatives, especially Hannity’s latest cause celebre, Dr. Ben Carson. The only problem? As Hannity whined that he is “livid” at being called a racist, one of his many bigoted pals, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, was right there in his cherry-picked, all-conservative, mainstream-African-American-hating studio “audience.” And there were plenty of digs at non-conservative African Americans – i.e. the vast majority of them – without anyone to speak on their behalf.

Bill O'Reilly's Double Standard Re "God Hates Fags" Theology?

Posted by Priscilla · April 09, 2013 12:39 PM · 3 reactions

Notwithstanding a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against him, his machinations to end the career of his ex-wife's boyfriend, and his attempts to consign his wife to eternal damnation, Bill O'Reilly is a devout Catholic who is always willing to defend the anti-abortion position of his church. That he's fully on board with the Church's belief that gay sex is also a ticket to eternal damnation was shown during last night's discussion about the Catholic chaplain at George Washington University who is the subject of controversy because of his Catholic views on gays - views which some students feel is a form of harassment and thus, a reason for the school to remove the priest from campus. The Catholic right, spurred on by O'Reilly's evil twin Bill Donohue, are incensed; so it's not surprising that O'Reilly would take up the cross for religious free speech. But in 2010, O'Reilly, in supporting the father of a fallen soldier who was suing the homophobic Westboro Baptist Church, didn't support their free speech. Obviously, in O'Reilly's world, not all God hates fags churches are created equal!
