Did Rush Limbaugh Really Tell A Caller To Stop Watching Fox News?

Posted by Margarita · July 09, 2013 5:22 PM · 9 reactions

Both Fox News and Rush Limbaugh jumped into damage-control mode today after some websites interpreted a Limbaugh liberal-bashing remark as advice to a listener to stop watching Fox News.

Yesterday a certain Tony from Tampa called Limbaugh's radio show to rant about “Alinskyite Obama Democrats, steeped in Leninism, with their windmills and their solar panels” who appeared on Fox News panels - complaining in particular about disparaging remarks about coal that “Democrat Obama-Alinskyite” liberal contributor Julie Roginsky had made on a Fox panel hosted by Neil Cavuto (audio below via Mediaite).

British Lawmakers Think Rupert Murdoch Has Some 'Splaining To Do About Those Bribes To Officials

Posted by Ellen · July 09, 2013 3:39 PM · 1 reaction

Those recently released secret recordings of Rupert Murdoch at a meeting with his employees are proving more than an embarrassment. Murdoch's supposedly private comments about the scandal plaguing his companies are so contradictory to the evidence he provided to a parliamentary inquiry that British lawmakers are asking him to come back and explain himself.

The Real Fraud In The South Carolina 'Dead Voter' Story Came From Fox News

Posted by Ellen · July 09, 2013 12:27 PM · 3 reactions

A newly-released report from a South Carolina state investigation has found that, despite Fox News fear mongering reports to the contrary, there was no indication that anyone purposefully cast a ballot using the name of a dead person in South Carolina. Yet while Fox pundits used the Republican cries of "voter fraud" as "proof" that more stringent voting restrictions were needed and Fox News promoted the alarmist cries, there has been no similar reporting on what turned out to be nothing more than a piece of partisan political theatrics that was as phony as the ACORN "exposé" Fox also blindly promoted.

Gallup Ranks Fox News Number One (Sort of)

Posted by Margarita · July 09, 2013 6:45 AM · 7 reactions

Fox Nation is trumpeting the fact that, according to Gallup, “Fox News is America's top outlet for news.” The Nation reprinted a glowing post from John Nolte at breitbart.com, which reported that 8% of those surveyed in late June said they got their news from Fox; second place is CNN with 7%. In fact, gentle reader, if you look more closely at the Gallup data, Fox appears to be in second place, and “non-specific” ranks first with a much larger 26%.

O’Reilly Whitesplains Racial Profiling To Levar Burton

Posted by Ellen · July 08, 2013 11:04 PM · 15 reactions

Recently, actor Levar Burton made some news when he discussed on CNN his fears of being mistreated by the police because of racial profiling and how he has taught his sons to behave if and when they get pulled over. Tonight, Burton appeared on the O’Reilly Factor as a follow up. I believe Bill O’Reilly meant well and intended to have a respectful exchange of perspectives but just like when he gushed over how well behaved the black diners were at Sylvia’s restaurant in Harlem, his clueless arrogance muscled its way through.

Fox Does Its Part To Abolish The IRS

Posted by Brian · July 08, 2013 1:15 PM · 4 reactions

On the July 5th Your World, Neil Cavuto opened up a discussion about the IRS furloughing employees (because of the sequester) with this “fair and balanced” introduction of his Tea Party guest: “Darla Dawald has a suggestion. Forget taking the day off, take the rest of the month off. In fact, take the whole year off. Come to think of it, well, stay permanently off. Darla, methinks, and I’ve heard some of your fine speeches, young lady, you’re not a fan of the IRS. So what do you make of this excuse?”

Fox News Doctors Palin's Bailin' As Alaska Governor

Posted by Ellen · July 08, 2013 10:03 AM · 7 reactions

Fox News did a little image makeover for newly-returned pundit Sarah Palin a few days ago when, in an article about Alaska politics, the "fair and balanced" folks described the improbability of her return to office with the following: "She hasn’t run for elected office since resigning as Alaska governor to become the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee and recently returned to Fox News as a paid commentator." The problem with that statement? Palin did not resign to become the nominee. She resigned in 2009 - nearly a year after she became the nominee and about seven months after Barack Obama had been inaugurated - amid a swirl of ethics complaints. (H/T News Corpse)

Fox News Most Outrageous Quote Of The Week Poll – July 4th Edition

Posted by Ellen · July 07, 2013 7:43 PM · 5 reactions

While most Americans were probably thinking about going to the beach and barbecuing this week, those “fair and balanced” folks at Fox News were thinking of ways to ram their agenda down the throats of the rest of us and smearing anyone who disagrees with them along the way. Here is a collection of their "patriotic" outrageousness for you, our readers, to mull over. Because, as always, while many can be nominated, only one can be the Fox News Outrageous Quote Of The Week.

Hannity Hosts Islamophobic Hate Monger Pamela Geller As Egypt Expert

Posted by Ellen · July 07, 2013 5:18 PM · 3 reactions

Pamela Geller has no expertise on Egypt, U.S. foreign policy or even the religion of Islam – other than the fact that her hostility is so extreme, her organization has been listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and Great Britain recently banned her from entering their country because her visit was deemed “not conducive to the public good.” But the Hannity show presented her as an authority to comment on the then-demonstrations against Egypt’s President Morsi last week. Geller not only displayed her ignorance and shallow grasp of the situation, but she got a good chunk of sympathetic air time to hate monger, including saying that President Obama is “consistently on the side of jihadic, Islamic supremacist regimes.”

Todd Starnes Impressed With 'Giant Burrito' At Gay Pride Parade?!

Posted by Priscilla · July 07, 2013 12:11 PM · 9 reactions

Culture warrior extraordinaire, Paula Deen supporter, and Fox News writer, radio host, and TV commentator Todd Starnes is always on the lookout for examples of how the insidious "gay agenda" is out to destroy truth, justice, and the Christian American way, such as when SCOTUS recently "overruled God." And that's why, I'm sure, the Jesus loving, homo hating Starnes is always on the lookout for examples of this licentiousness at gay pride parades on which he seems to have an odd fixation. Last year, he tweeted about the male thongs and leather chaps seen at a NY pride parade. This year, he tweeted his sympathy for NY tourists who were exposed to this degeneracy which included, OMG, a giant burrito being ridden by one of those evil Christian seducing, Jesus hating, "sodomites," (in the parlance of Starnes' pals) and, pass Todd his fan because I do believe he's about to pass out, "foreskin activists." Jesus wept!
