Fox Does Its Part To Abolish The IRS

Posted by Brian -34pc on July 08, 2013 · Flag

On the July 5th Your World, Neil Cavuto opened up a discussion about the IRS furloughing employees (because of the sequester) with this “fair and balanced” introduction of his Tea Party guest: “Darla Dawald has a suggestion. Forget taking the day off, take the rest of the month off. In fact, take the whole year off. Come to think of it, well, stay permanently off. Darla, methinks, and I’ve heard some of your fine speeches, young lady, you’re not a fan of the IRS. So what do you make of this excuse?”

Dawald said,

It’s just more of their trying to appease the Republicans I think and the right and trying to make them all think that they’re doing the right thing by taking days off. But like you said, as far as I’m concerned, they need to just let go of them altogether, just abolish them, turn out the lights, lock the door, and send all those people off to another job or another place and I don’t know maybe they can make some training videos for someone else that cost a few billion dollars.

Dawald, whose group boasts about its patriotism, didn’t say a word about how the government should raise revenue if the IRS is abolished. Nor did Cavuto ask how she thinks little things like roads, the military, FEMA, or that border security conservatives love so much should be funded – or whether she thinks everything should be privatized.

Also, during the interview, a box in the right hand corner showed that five unpaid furlough days were approved for the IRS’s 90,000 employees. Since they hate taxes so much, maybe Cavuto and Dawald should pay jobless benefits out of their own pockets for those 90,000 workers they want to see lose their employment. But don’t hold your breath.

OK, I finally have to ask:

Are the hosts of Fox News expecting to be audited? Were they recently audited?

Because there is no reason that is even within a mile of their best interests to abolish the IRS. Other than being stupid enough to think that would get them out of one.

What you’re seeing here is a symptom of the complete breakdown within the Republican Party. Here you have Cavuto happily talking about hard right wing people trying to primary “RINO Republicans” for the offense of having tried to pass some bipartisan legislation. And you have him encouraging this person to spout a pile of nonsense about the IRS and her opinions without making the kind of vigorous challenges he would do with a person on the other side of the aisle. Wasn’t it only a month ago that he screamed at a guest and cut their microphone? But that person wasn’t arguing for the abolition of a major federal agency…

The teabaggers would replace the progressive income tax with a hugely regressive national sales tax. The middle class would be destroyed and the lower class cast into abject poverty. The rich and super- rich would flourish.
Federal spending would be limited to national defense, homeland security and waging endless Muslim wars.

If you like what is happening now in Egypt, you will love Teabagger USA.

No mention of how to fund those little things like roads, FEMA and that border security conservatives love so much.
