In Newtown Shootings, Former ‘Takers’ Are Now Fox News Heroes

Posted by Ellen -379.80pc on December 15, 2012 · Flag

Less than two weeks ago, Fox & Friends was portraying public service workers as “takers” draining the coffers of the “makers.” It’s a common refrain on Fox. But now, in the wake of the awful shooting massacre at a Newtown, Connecticut public school, those “takers” were held up as heroes last night.

Last night, in a segment called, Stories of heroism emerge amid tragedy, at about 5:40, mentioned “the custodian being a hero” and “the lengths to which people went to protect these children was pretty, pretty amazing.”

Later, at about 9:00, he talked about some of the narratives that had grabbed him:

A custodian that was running up and down the halls doing everything that he could do to warn people. We have a teacher – numerous stories of teachers that were hiding kids in closets and doing everything they can do – and locking doors and putting them in the lavatories and locking doors.

He played a clip of the teacher talking about taking her kids into a bathroom and barricading the door.

These heroes are the same people Fox makes a point of smearing day after day, night after night – in an effort to get them to forego pay raises and pension benefits so that Fox Newsies and their one percenter cronies won’t have to pony up more in taxes.

@i’m Mad!: “Excusing hatred by pointing out others hatred is childish.”

Says the one who just wrote:

“You people cant manage to push aside your intolerance for anyone you disagree with for more than a day before mocking others during something this horrific."

Even though there are no death threats posted in this thread . . .

@mj: Excusing hatred by pointing out others hatred is childish. I would never defend anyone who posts the kind of hatred that is posted here or there.

@i’m Mad!: “You people cant manage to push aside your intolerance for anyone you disagree with for more than a day before mocking others during something this horrific. I would say its unbelievable, but considering where the hatred is coming from its not only believable but expected.”

I agree, I’m Mad! . . . but, enough about FoxNation.com:

I wonder if any of the children that Gingrich wanted to use as school janitors instead of paid employees would have been so heroic.

@anne: Where was I intolerant, hateful and mocking?

From Robert Urban’s comment:

“Hey FOX. When am I going to read about a Vulture Capitalist or a Banker protecting someone other than themselves?”

Answer: when you see cows dancing the bossa nova Robert.

’Nuff said.

Your name befits you well, may I add, I love your spin and it is very obvious where YOUR tolerance, hatred and mockery comes from,it has “Fox” written all over it.
The pot calling the kettle black a typical Fox move.

@mj-the same one. A whole week? I expect KKKlannity to be back on Monday once again smearing union “thugs” and demonizing teacher unions.

Is this all you people have? Hatred? Even in a time of a national tragedy where children were killed you people still have to spin and spit your hatred of everything coming from FOX. In a story about heroism you have to make it about something its not. You people cant manage to push aside your intolerance for anyone you disagree with for more than a day before mocking others during something this horrific. I would say its unbelievable, but considering where the hatred is coming from its not only believable but expected.

That floored me, too. Teachers, policemen, firemen, municipal workers of alk stripes, and the military are all “takers” in the Foxy dictionary, along with retirees and people too poor to make ends meet.

Give the foxies ten days and they’ll be back on message.

PS: A reminder: the Foxy dictionary calls people with off-shore accounts “makers”. That’s outright perplexing.

I agree with MJ- Countdown to the segment where Fox News decides these heroes should have no rights, no job security, and a paycheck reduced to the point where they never get to live without a room mate.

In fact, it’s so out of character for them to say something nice about teachers that I had to wonder if someone put the Fox News’ logo on another channel.

Not to worry, Ellen.

Rest assured — in another week or so, when the Newtown shootings pass from the news cycle, the Faux sNooze pundits will gleefully resume their demonization of teachers, service workers, and all union workers . . .

Hey FOX. When am I going to read about a Vulture Capitalist or a Banker protecting someone other than themselves? America already knows the class of citizens who are looking out for the people of this great country of ours, and what class is looking out for themselves? In other words, WE ALL KNOW who the REAL takers are and who the real GIVERS are.
Takers vs. Makers, on it’s face, is an irrelevant comparison as the 2 are not at all related. Have you ever heard the expression “..it was a make or take proposition”?
