Van Susteren Smacks Down Starnes' Tasteless Malaysian Airliner Tweets

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on July 17, 2014 · Flag

Todd Starnes showed a shocking lack of taste (even for him) when he reacted to the shooting down of a Malaysian airliner with snarky attacks on President Obama. Kudos to Fox's Greta Van Susteren for calling him out on it.

While most people probably took the news of the airline crash with sorrow and concern, Starnes thought of smearing Obama. Here's a grab from Starnes' twitter feed during the hour that the news broke of the crash.

An hour later, Starnes thought of this:

But in case you think I only criticize Greta Van Susteren, here's a big shout out to her for having the gumption to stand up to her own colleague. On In a blog post called, "NOTE TO FNC’s TODD STARNES: THIS IS VERY BAD TASTE, 295 PEOPLE DIED," Van Susteren wrote, "This is not the time to be snarky or have some pathetic attempt at humor. Let me repeat… 295 people died."

Good for her!

My first reaction to the Gretawire post was to give Greta kuddos for being brave and going after Starnes. Then, I started reading the comments. Out of over 300, the ones that agreed with Greta on this one I could count on my two hands (maybe not even that many). Those who respectfully agreed got attacked as “vile toxic trolls.” So, I knew it was just a matter on time before Greta would try to balance out her bashing of Todd’s smear on the President.

On cue, today Greta lashed out at Pelosi saying, “pouring gasoline on a fire (calling a Constitutional disagreement an attack) is a disservice to the nation.”

Pelosi sent Greta a fundraising email saying that Obama was being unfairly attacked by Boehner’s law suit.

Greta kept on and wrote in her post, “I have no idea whether Speaker Boehner’s position will prevail or not but Leader Pelosi is off the charts with the description “attack on the President.” She is just trying to stir up trouble, not good debate.”

So sad that those who try to have a decent debate on her blog are attacked unfairly. I have no patience anymore to even try.

Starnes needs a good ol’ fashioned figurative ass-kicking. Sue this whiny arrogant shithead into oblivion.

Starnes has a freakish obsession with Obama. He really needs to take a break and report on other things for a while. He embarrasses himself.

Greta will be back to her same old Obama bashing self on tonights’ show.
But, her flash of humanity and compassion was a refreshing change.

Toddy is pure evil. If Satan had a son, he would look like Toddy.

Steve, Fox — and the GOPers — have been blaming Obama for this since the news broke.

Fuck you, Todd.
If you really want some action, join the military.
If you can’t do anything other than advocate for others to fight a war for you, just shut the fuck up.

Just as I clicked on my news hounds bookmark, I thought to myself “I wonder if Fox will figure out a way to blame Obama for this plane crash?” They’ve rewarded my (lack of) faith in them again.
