Van Susteren Says She Was Kidding About Wanting Trump In The Democratic Debate

Greta Van Susteren didn’t really think Donald Trump belonged in the Democratic debate last night, she was just knocking Bernie Sanders at the same time that she was promoting Trump’s debate tweets. Now I get it!

In case you missed it, I posted yesterday about a Greta Van Susteren tweet featuring a large photo of Donald Trump and asking, “if they can invite a Socialist / Sanders to Dem debate, why not a Rep?”

On the same day, she promoted Trump’s attempt to steal the Democratic debate limelight with his live tweets.

Apparently, Van Susteren took exception to my post. On her Fox News blog, she wrote about my post, “So humorless… I was kidding.”

OK, mea culpa. I didn’t get it; I stand corrected. But I’m sorry, even as a joke, it’s a nasty swipe at Democrats that, in my opinion is not apropos. If I understand correctly, the “humor” is that Sanders’ presence is so ridiculous, that the Democrats might as well have had Trump there, too. But Sanders is a sitting U.S. senator who caucuses with the Democrats and he is running for the Democratic nomination. Trump, on the other hand, has never held public office. He should have disqualified himself as any kind of serious pundit, not to mention candidate, on Fox with his birther baloney and his never-gonna-happen “plan” to deport 11 million immigrants and do away with citizenship rights.

Which one is really the joke in the race, or should be? And which one have you and your network been promoting since before he even announced?

Good follow-up piece, Ellen, except for the “mea culpa, I stand corrected” part. There is no need to back down one bit from taking the words she wrote at their face value. Many of her own fans did exactly the same thing, and it is a typically lame excuse of those who are caught to say “but I was only joking.” Don’t fall for it.

You know the Democratic debate is a success when the biggest slam ‘fair and balanced’ Fox News can come up with is their GOP TV™ Republican debate had higher ratings.

Meanwhile, comedian Greta’s joking or serious commentary – take your pick – about The Donald dominating the Democratic debate news is actually coming true. Well, on GOP TV™ at least. “Fox & Friends First” pimped the right-wing notion. Just as “Fox & Friends” did yesterday. Another GOP talking point is born on GOP TV™! Fair and balanced!

There’s so much unintentional political satire on Fox News it’s hard to tell when they’re really kidding.

On the flip side, let your – fill in the blank – ‘mainstream media’ anchor make a joke ribbing The Donald and wait for the GOP TV™ hair on fire detonation. ;^)

You can’t tell when VanSuckup makes a funny because her face has been frozen in the same hideous botox grin since 1998.
