Sarah Palin Launching An Online News Channel

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on July 28, 2014 · Flag

Sarah Palin, still a Fox News contributor as I write this, has announced that she’s creating a competitor online.  It’s to be called – what else?  - the Sarah Palin Channel. No need to hold the jokes. There’s already a hashtag for that.

For just $9.95 per month or $99.95 for a one-year subscription – assuming she doesn’t quit first – here’s what Palin promises:

A news channel that really is a lot more than news. This is a community where we’re gonna be able to share ideas and discuss the issues of the day. And we’re gonna find solutions. Are you tired of the media filters? Well, I am. I always have been. So we’re gonna do something about it.

I want to talk directly to you on our channel on my terms and no need to please the powers that be. Most importantly, I want you to talk directly to me. …Together, we’ll go beyond the soundbites and cut through the media’s politically correct filter.

…We’ll go directly to the root of the problems confronting America.

…We’ll also share some of the fun that goes on in the Palin household.

With content like that, who needs Netflix?

I’m sure, like me, you can hardly wait. But the fun has already started on Twitter’s #PalinTVShows (H/T Raw Story). The entries are already more entertaining than Palin’s channel may ever be. Some of my faves:

Based on Princess Sarah of Alaska’s track record on “staying on the job”, we will see how long this latest “business” venture will last.

Head over to Raw Story and find the article about the Twitter jokes. There are hundreds of comments with more suggestions on what could be shown on Caribou Barbie’s channel, and they’re all pretty hilarious. (I must modestly confess that I contributed a few myself.)

It remains to be seen how many people will be willing to pony up $100 a year for this bullshit when in all likelihood they’ll need the money for food, gas or rent. Perhaps they’ll see it as similar to tithing to a church, even when their kids and grandkids go hungry.

From Al Jazeera: “Wall-to-wall Palin”.

24/7 exposure will not be kind to her, even with the most rabid (brain-dead) fans.

truman, I’ve got a feeling viewers will be ready for the old-fashioned test pattern. (For those who are too young or have forgotten what they are, back in the olden days, BT*, TV stations would sign off—usually around midnight on weekdays—and the only thing that would appear on the channel would be a funny-looking pattern, usually accompanied by a high-pitched sound. The most widely-remembered one, from the old black-and-white era, is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian-head_test_pattern .)

*BT = Before Turner (as in Ted Turner, founder of “Superstation TBS,” one of the first US channels to broadcast 24 hours a day).

After a few episodes with the Whore of Babble-On, viewers will be clamoring for a return of My Mother The Car.

Talk directly to her? She won’t even sign copies of her book if the line is too long!
