Okay. I just don’t get this “woman’s” argument.
How exactly can the “one man-one woman” view of marriage be considered “traditional” BUT she then whines that “traditional values mean bigger government?”
I guess it just goes to prove that there really are some people who should NOT open their mouths until AFTER their brains have completed a thought. (Or maybe it’s just further proof that right-wingers can be for AND against things at the same time.)
I’m also kind of interested in Star’s personal life. Star claims to be a “conservative Christian” but Star’s Wiki page mentions NO spouse (current OR former) nor any children. And Star’s Facebook page is empty of any reference to a spouse or children. Now, a right-wing website carries an article in which Star alleges having had four abortions (because, apparently, Star fell for “liberal lies”—meaning Star was too stupid to be a parent in the first place) but I had no interest in actually reading the article. But it seems very strange to me that a “conservative Christian” woman would NOT marry (as “God intended”—that IS the typical “conservative Christian” meme, is it not?). Why is Star so upset at marriage being “redefined” when Star doesn’t seem interested enough in the institution to mention any spouse in any personal information? Then again—that is SOP for right-wingers: Make a big huff about something that doesn’t affect you in the least but may affect others very deeply.
And Doocy further lived up to his nickname of Douchey.

@ Warp Resident: Well, I’m sure his mother had access to legal abortion but she didn’t take advantage of that. So why would you think access to contraception would’ve mattered?
What’s more incredible is that there’s a woman out there who actually married this asshole AND had sex with him AND gave birth to his children. You’d also think he’d be a lot less assholish about women given the fact that he’s the father of two daughters. (I can only imagine how those girls are going to turn out with him as their “male role model.”)

Hey Megyn and Uncle Tom! I’ve got a question: If the two missing sailor boys were BLACK, do you think the networks would be offering the same kind of coverage the two WHITE teen sailor boys are getting?
The simple fact (and, you really should know “simple,” Megyn—I think it’s actually your middle name) is that the Black Lives Matter protesters do NOT think that “white lives don’t matter”; they’d just like it if Black lives didn’t seem to be seen as less important than White lives.
Really, Megyn and your Uncle Tom buddy might spend just a couple of minutes discussing how many young women of color went missing with little to no national press coverage during the time that the US media went wild covering Natalee Holloway’s disappearance. And how about discussing how different Cliven Bundy (you remember him, don’t you?) was treated compared to Sandra Bland. If your memory needs a touch of refreshing, Bundy and his little militia pals actually aimed RIFLES at US law enforcement officers who’d been sent to confiscate Bundy’s herd of ILLEGALLY feeding cattle. Poor Ms Bland sole crimes were changing lanes without using a turn signal and then waving a cigarette at a police officer.
Maybe if white people were dying at the hands of Black cops in anything close to the rate of Black people dying at the hands of white cops (and a few non-cops; remember George Zimmerman?), then your crocodile tears would have some value (aside from causing your cheap mascara to run). As it is, this white man isn’t going to give your whining any sympathy.

So, does this mean Ainsley does NOT want to protect the “minority” of people abusing their religious freedoms as a license to discriminate?
Most fair-minded religious people actually don’t believe that religious beliefs should NOT be cherry-picked to support discrimination; it’s just a very vocal minority that wants to use their religion to discriminate (oddly enough, only against LGBTs; they seem to take umbrage at the suggestion they might be required by those same religious beliefs to discriminate against other ethnic groups or religious groups or even divorced people).
Like so many of the FoxNoise kkkrew, they just can’t see how their own viewpoints can so easily (and quickly) be turned against them.

You know. As often as Bull Bill O’Reilly lies, I’m surprised he actually has time to be on camera. I mean, he’s such a good Catholic (despite the dissolution of his marriage—isn’t that commonly called a “divorce,” and something of which the RCC disapproves?) that he has to be in the confession booth on a daily basis.
I can just imagine it now.
(confessional door closes)
“Father, forgive me, for I have sinned. It’s been 12 minutes since my last confession.”
“Bill? Is that you again?”
“I thought this was to be anonymous?”
“Well, if you went to a different priest from time to time, it would be. But (sighing) continue with your confession. (mutters under his breath) Even though I know what the fuck it’s going to be…….”
“Father. I have lied. I told my audience an egregious lie against Planned Parenthood.”
“Again? (priest thinks, “Dear Lord, what have I done to deserve this? I know I had some dirty thoughts about that altar boy but you know it never went beyond the fantasizing. Surely, THAT doesn’t merit THIS punishment.”) My son. You know that lying is a sin, yet you persist in sinning. Sigh………….You know your punishment. Perform your penance, then sin no more."
“Thank you father. I will try my best.”
“Then, you’ll be back within the hour, I take it?”
“Probably, father.”
“See you then, my son.”
(priest hears the other confessional door open and close and wonders if he’d really have enough time to leave before O’Reilly comes back as he really needs to confess his own sins—especially the one where he takes O’Reilly out of the confessional booth, dragging the man to the altar and taking that large image of the Suffering Christ and dropping it on O’Reilly’s head, over and over and over and over—and once more, for good measure—then dancing a jig over the man’s bloodied corpse and singing a happy tune)

Guys, sorry to burst your bubble, but mj, in this case, you’re absolutely WRONG.
Westboro DOES have a “right” to protest ANY funeral—public OR private. The Supreme Court (March 2011, in an 8-1 ruling; Alito was the lone dissenter) effectively further showed that “the First Amendment exists to protect robust debate on public issues and free expression, no matter how distasteful.” (bolding mine for emphasis) (You can read more about this at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/02/westboro-baptist-church-w_n_830209.html . The funeral in question was a PRIVATE funeral
Your read on Jindal’s threat to arrest the Westboro folk is also wrong, mj. The police (which, actually, Jindal has no say over; the state’s National Guard, on the other hand……….) exist to keep the public order. It’s up to them to provide protection for the Westboro protesters (no matter how distasteful the cops may view the job—as we’ve been pointing out about the marriage license clerks who’ve pulled the “religious exemption” card at gay/lesbian couples, their job is NOT to allow their personal feelings get in the way of doing their legal duties and obligations*) and to keep any counter-demonstrators from attacking the WBC folk. Threatening to arrest someone “to keep the public order” is an egregious threat that actually comes close to the level of impeachable offenses. The mere threat of arresting anyone for exercising their First Amendment rights—no matter how despicable you find the group—is little different from the days of Bull Conner siccing police dogs and blasting firehoses on civil rights demonstrators.
I harbor absolutely zero love for Westboro. As far as I’m concerned, I want an F5 tornado to hit their damned church building while the ENTIRE family/congregation is inside, and I want not a single person survive (no matter how “innocent” the person may be—yes, I’m including the kids, regardless of age, to suffer as well; that’s how much I hate WBC). That said………….they have as much right to protest anyone or anything—public or private—as those KKKers and Neo-Nazis who gathered in South Carolina to support that traitorous flag (or as the KKK did when they marched through the middle of the Jewish community of Skokie, IL back in the late 1970s).
Yes. Free speech does have limits. Unfortunately, PEACEFUL protesting—no matter the source—is NOT among those limits. See, Aria—that’s where your own analysis failed. Westboro has NEVER—not once—crossed the line in their protests. Hell, half the family are lawyers; they know how far they can take things and how far they can push. Their words are vile and the protests they’ve done are really reprehensible (to say “poor taste” is a gross understatement) BUT they’ve committed no crimes.
On the topic of “not doing your job because of your ‘sincerely-held religious beliefs’,” I know I’ve mentioned before that I work for the Postal Service. You can’t imagine how much utter right-wing crap I see passing through on a daily basis. And as much as I would love to express my “sincerely-held (though not religious) beliefs” with regard to the lies and misinformation being passed through the Service every single day, I don’t because doing so would be a Federal offense. Not only would I lose my job (not even the Union could protect me in this case) but I’d face serious fines and possible jail time for tampering with or obstructing the mail (hell, technically it’s illegal to read postcards, but you know human nature). Even if I tried to defend my actions as being a public service (I *did take an oath to defend my country against ALL enemies—both foreign and domestic—and, my “sincerely-held beliefs” hold that groups like the American Center for Law and Justice and PACs supporting right-wing politicians are effectively domestic enemies), it wouldn’t do any good. I’d be out of a job.

Given its history of voter fraud, the only creature who should be arrested is Ann Coulter.
I refuse to consider Ann Coulter to be remotely human, much less having gender. I think “Family Guy” did it best—when Lois goes to work forVoldemort FoxNoise*, she’s given a tour and when they get to the break room, Ann Coulter is sitting on a counter—as the REFRIGERATOR. An employee opens her legs, a light shines from the area, and he looks around and says, “Nothing good in there.”
*Presumably, the episode started off suggesting she was joining the local Quahog Fox Network affiliate but later, it makes it seem as though she’s joining the main network.

@ Maxx Lib: Hannutty don’t care nothin’ ‘bout no grammar. He knows his audience. I’d be willing to bet at least 90% routinely say “I’ve ever saw.”
I live in the South and we have a lot of people whose takes on the English language are, shall we say, interesting to say the very least. (Hell, I’ve got relatives in rural Pennsylvania whose language is identical to most of my neighbors, except for the accent.)
Grammar’s only important to Hannutty and his audience when it’s African-American English (and it threatens to cross over to the whitebread mainstream).

I also note that Hannutty isn’t attacking the people who are truly responsible for the “no guns policy” at recruiting stations*: George H W Bush and the Pentagon. The whole “gun-free” policy is the result of a Pentagon directive proposed under Bush (but not put into full effect until after Clinton took office—not unlike the way so many other laws and directives don’t go into immediate effect but have a kind of “waiting period”). A PolitiFact check into one of Jeb!s claims blaming Clinton even has a HERITAGE FOUNDATION (you know—one of those big CONservative think tanks) official, and former Army colonel absolving Clinton of any blame. He notes that when he joined the military in 1973, there was a policy which prohibited carrying firearms on military property.
Standard procedure in the military now limits the carrying of weapons on military installations to LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL ONLY. That includes military recruiting offices. (Incidentally, this is pretty typical of ALL government installations. I work for the Postal Service, and the ONLY Postal employees allowed to carry weapons on the grounds are the Postal Inspectors—even outside police officers can only enter the building armed with permission from the Inspection Service. I also kind of wonder how many visitors to the FoxNoise building have to go through a security check to make sure they’re not carrying weapons—not that any right-thinkin’, gun-totin’ "Merkin would ever want to shoot up their sacred temple. Even though, churches and other sacred sites aren’t exactly any safer than anywhere else.)
*Even though, according to the reports, the shooter never actually entered the recruiting station—an action more accurately described as a drive-by shooting.

And then, validating tRump by using a Chris Rock take-down when McCain was the actual nominee for President? No wonder you ‘Cons are so fond of continually blaming Bill Clinton for things he did 15 to 20 years ago while forgetting all the problems that can be directly laid at Dubya’s feet (not just the 9/11 oversight but also the failure of the wars against the Taliban and Iraq—the latter leading directly to ISIS—and the economic crisis of 2008). Your viewers have goldfish memories and you and your fellow pundits have convenience memories. Michael, no one owes you anything. YOU made an inflammatory statement—one without any evidence at this point—and you got called on it.
If you want to appear like a fucking idiot, you’re going to get called a fucking idiot.
And if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the fucking kitchen.
You might also want to consider how “friends” often are blind to reality. Think about all the times when neighbors of serial killers are astonished when the killer is revealed. “He was always so helpful.” “He was such a quiet young man—never the least bit of trouble.”
What was it that led Dylann Roof to enter an African-American church and spend time in a prayer circle before deciding to kill his fellow worshipers? What radicalized him to murder innocent people?
Why do WHITE guys who commit mass murder get written off as “disturbed” individuals, just another “lone wolf” instead of being properly labeled as terrorists? Why didn’t FoxNoise spend time on his crimes? Oh, right. Ostensibly a white Christian racist who could’ve gotten a job at FoxNoise in a few years.
And, remember Cliven Bundy? And his little band of terrorists who actually put US LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL in the sights of a sniper rifle? Why didn’t FoxNoise described them as terrorists? (Especially as a couple of self-proclaimed Bundy supporters KILLED a cop in Las Vegas. A WHITE couple—who, again, weren’t labeled as terrorists.)

@ doors17: I remember how the most amazing coincidence involving the hostages took place. Oh. And maybe just a little bit of GOP treason was involved.
There is some evidence that certain GOP officials went around the OFFICIAL channels (ie, the Carter Administration) to work a deal with the Iranians, roughly a week or two before the elections. If Iran would only delay any real negotiations to free the hostages until AFTER the 1980 election, it would help ensure that Carter wouldn’t get re-elected (although Carter was behind in the polls even in mid-October, the GOP was actually worried that the Carter Administration might manage to pull an “October Surprise” and announce the hostages would be freed before Christmas—and could likely pull off an upset and be re-elected). There certainly was no love between the Iranian leadership and the Carter Administration and Team Reagan decided to apply that old Middle East favorite, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
Of course, the Iranians pulled out of any negotiations until after the elections and Carter lost. So, in early December, the Iranians came back to the table but ultimately refused to give Carter any sort of victory by choosing Inauguration Day as the official release date.
But, I also remember how the Great Military Supporter Reagan dithered around and refused to take any responsibility for the deaths of 240 US military personnel, allowing instead a general to “take one for the Gipper” (compared to the failed rescue attempt by the Carter Administration in the summer of 1980, when Carter took full responsibility for the mission’s failure and the deaths of all involved).
And the great irony of the 1986 arms-for-hostages thing was that Reagan and his people wanted to sell arms to the Iranians while, simultaneously, supplying weapons (including chemical weapons) to Iran’s enemy, Iraq.

It’s really disgusting that drive-by trolls have to engage in racist trash-talk in order to defend the bubbleheaded bleach-blonde who couldn’t be bothered to offer a fraction as much coverage of the deaths of nine innocent Black churchgoers at the hands of a racist “thug” (and couldn’t even call out the thug’s racism because it might offend the racist FoxNoise viewers).
In case that went over your head, it was directed at you, Chuck (the latest in a line of sock-puppet trolls who never seem to stick around for more than a single article).

I’d still love to know why FoxNoise still refuses to acknowledge how racism played a part in the massacre of the Charleston 9 by that snot-nosed little white punk.
Could it be that FoxNoise might have a little “blood on their hands” for their part in stoking the racial fires?
I’m simply asking a question.
Not blaming anyone here.
Nope, not blaming anyone.
Not at all.
Just asking a question.
About FoxNoise and how it and its hosts have been hating on Blacks, mainly through the network’s attacks on the President but also the way every dead Black man in the past couple of years has—according to FoxNoise—forced White people to kill them.
Yep. Just asking.

I guess Mr Segweth’s just acknowledged that he doesn’t do his own tax returns. The Federal forms use the terms “your” and “spouse”—no “husband” or “wife” there. (The person filing the return is “your” and, if a joint return, the person’s legally married spouse—whether “husband” or “wife”—is the “spouse.”)
Hell, I live in Alabama, and even Alabama’s tax return forms use “Your” and “Spouse.”
If your tax return doesn’t demand the antiquated use of “husband” and “wife,” why should any other government forms? Even most job applications and a W-4 form have abandoned “husband” and “wife” in favor of the neutral “spouse.”
And I’m pretty certain “spouse” has been standard on all these forms for a couple of decades—even before marriage equality was a concept. It was done because—SURPRISE!—women actually work outside the house for real income. Even married women work outside the house.
