Guess Who Published The "Ventura-Puncher" Navy SEAL's Book?

Posted by Ellen -7842.60pc on January 13, 2012 · Flag

Although Navy SEAL Chris Kyle says he deliberately avoided mentioning the name of the fellow Navy SEAL he claimed to have decked in his new book - and that he's dismayed at the brouhaha that resulted when Jesse Ventura's name was revealed by a caller on a radio show - Fox News made a point of highlighting that salacious tidbit. The so-called "we report, you decide" network has shown no interest that I can find in ascertaining whether or not the claim is true. Even after Ventura demanded a retraction. On a hunch the other day, I decided to see who published this book.

If you guessed that the book is published by William Morrow, a News Corp. publisher, you'd be correct.

In other words, "fair and balanced" Fox has a vested interest in not casting any doubt on the author's credibility and every interest in hyping his sensational claims.

“Frankly,it’s much aod about nothing. Got a problem with him calling himself a SEAL? Take it up with the US Navy. I notice no one has done that yet,have they?”

That’s true, Yakki. And they won’t — for one simple reason: it’s much easier to besmirch an individual {Ventura} than it is an organization {USN.}

Somebody earlier in the thread mentioned that Chris Kyle, for the right wing, is “this year’s Carrie Prejean” . . . after reading fitness’ comment, it appears Jesse Ventura is this year’s John Kerry: Kerry — a decorated Vietnam veteran — was forced to be the one defending his service as opposed to an AWOL member of the TANG; now Ventura is the one having his identity as a SEAL questioned, simply because he denies being punched six years ago . . .

Funny how Cap can baselessly claim that we didn’t read the book, then confirm what I said… though I would like to know what “larceny” I committed.

Kyle’s version of events goes against the SEAL Challenge Contract and that it’s suspicious he wouldn’t know a recruiter can only confirm he hasn’t changed his mind about going into it. Here’s a link to the freakin’ page that says a spot can only be offered/confirmed by a SOM and the interview has to take place IN PERSON.

If the book was dictated, that makes him not just the owner of a new lie, but also too lazy to read the manuscript and correct that.

But feel free to spin that fact while you explain my non-existent larcenies to me. Oh, and prove I didn’t read the passage, even though I supposedly cut-paste it.

“mj: Please tell me you’re lying about working in our military for 20 years. Was that before or after JFK/LBJ engaged us in a ‘police action’ in Vietnam? You don’t have to answer.” — Crap Stormfield

OK, I won’t. But, I’ll give you a little hint: I joined at age 21, and I’ll turn 48 this year. Knowing the trouble you rightwingnuts have with basic mathematics, I’m guessing it will take a couple of days for you to figure the time frame out — don’t worry, though; I’m sure you can find a fifth-grader to help.

“Your ‘talking points’ indicate MSNBC idolatry.”

What IS it with you Faux sNooze devotees, thinking MSNBC is somehow “liberal” and that all progressives religiously tune in to it? I myself seldom watch news on TV {I prefer NPR}, and I find it amusing that a network owned by GE {a leading proponent of the “military complex”} that features such libruls as Joe Scarborough and the soon-to-be-fired UnKKKle Pat Buchanan can be classified as being “from the left” . . .

~~~~~~
“Strictly post-Reagan and full of hatred for non-Democrat administrations.”
Any “hatred” I may have for “non-Democrat” [ain’t that cute how Rush Limpballs’ dittoheads just naturally repeat his phrases?] administrations stems from the fact that all of them — St. Ronnie Ray-gun’s included — were so vastly incompetent {especially the most recent one.}
~~~~~~

“Obama is giving away strategic gains in the most volatile region on earth.”

“Giving away strategic gains”? In what manner? Are you referring to the withdrawal of troops from Iraq? {You know — the same troop withdrawal Dumbya and the Iraqis agreed upon back in 2008.} Or perhaps you’re referring to the failure to capture terrorists; you may want to ask bin Laden about that — oh, wait; you can’t {he’s dead.}

Viz was right: there wasn’t any BS on this thread until you showed up and started tossing it. But, I think I’ve spent enough time cleaning it up; it’s somebody else’s turn . . .

“However, you might try to occasional write something factual. It helps with that whole cred thing.” — Cap Stormfield

Hey, Cap — know what else helps with that whole cred thing? Knowing how to spell OCCASIONALLY . . .

~~~~~
“That is fine. Nobody really cares or takes you seriously.”
And yet — you took us seriously enough to write a six-paragraph response.
~~~~~

“I can understand why you guys hate Chris Kyle. He is the anti-thesis of all you hold sacred. That is your prerogative. Just like your disdain for Fox News, Ann Coulter, GW Bush and the American military complex.”

I don’t hate Chris Kyle. I don’t know him.

My disdain for Faux sNooze, Crazy Annie Coulter, and Dumbya has nothing to do with Kyle — it has to do with the fact that all three are demonstrated liars.

Seeing as I served in the American military complex for twenty years, any “disdain” I have for it has only to do with its participation in illegal, preemptive wars based on fixed intel — not its very existence, as you’re trying to claim.

Pats Cap on the head I did read the book… and I fact-checked every suspect claim.

Chris claims that he was disqualified from regular Navy service, then when he re-submitted, the recruiter called up with that.

In the real world, he submits a SCC with his application and an MO officer decides if he’s fit to join the seals during an interview he takes during boot camp- all the recruiter has the ability to do is ask if he changed his mind.

I find it kinda suspicious that Kyle would get that wrong. But thank you for validating that is what he said.

Dustin, I seriously doubt Fox News would deny a former Republican Governor being assaulted would be kept quiet or denied on Fox News. It’s too good an opprotunity for them to cry about so-called persecution.

Chris Kyle is this years Carrie Prejean. Faux bent over backwards and pissed in their diddies trying to make her a martyr for the far-right……………until some her past “indescretions” came to light, like her nude pics and masturbations vids from her phone. Kyle is their darling of the moment, but once his lies come to light and he can’t prove a thing except from “witnesses” who suddenly recall this fight six years later after not saying a word back then, Kyle will be dropped as fast as Prejean was.

LOL Ellen, great find.
Have any of Kyle’s “witnesses” come forward yet?

This whole thing just reeks of trying to sell a book in the same way Ann Coulter always says something outrageous to get people talking and giving her a free advertisement to help her promote her books.

All they’re doing is slithering their way to the bank.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Morrow ghost-wrote it, as well. Some of the claims made in the book that I can discern sound like something Kyle should know is complete BS as a SEAL. For instance, in one passage, it says that the recruiter called him up during his second attempt to join the Navy to ask him if he was interested in becoming a SEAL.

Like the punch story, this goes completely against the grain. Kyle was a ranch hand who was submitting a second application and had major injuries on his record. Even if a recruiter COULD recommend him for training, He’s unvetted with two liability factors and he wasn’t even in an ROTC, where he could be vouched for.

This is not to say that Kyle is outright lying- he could be talking about a Challenge Contract, omitting and embellishing a few details…

Such as that in the real world, that he had to send in the request himself, that portion of the call would be more or less asking if he changed his mind and that he still had to be vetted through boot camp- as well as the interview with an OM officer.

Sorry, Kyle… but you suck at telling the truth. I don’t even feel bad about busting ya, because people like you make things harder for the troops who are trying to EARN our respect as well as our support, instead of thinking they can hide behind the uniform to act any damn fool way they want.
