I had to double check to make sure it wasn't an April Fool's joke as I heard host Bill Hemmer say there's a "growing controversy" about Google "choos(ing) to celebrate" Cesar Chavez on Easter Sunday. "Did you catch it?" Hemmer asked his guest, Roll Call's David Drucker. Obviously, this is part of the War on Easter the religious police Fox News has been warning about. And leave it to Fox to suggest that President Obama has something to do with it.
Drucker had not caught the Google honoration but he thought it was just a stupid move, not an anti-Christian plot from an evil secular progressive. But as he spoke, a large graphic of "Fox Facts" appeared on the screen. The first one said, "2011: President Obama designated each March 31 to be Cesar Chavez Day." And then, "Chavez was trained by Saul Alinsky, who was known as 'the father of community organizing.'" Any regular Fox watcher worth their salt knows there's very little daylight between Barack Obama and Saul Alinsky.
And in case you still didn't connect this outrage to President Obama, Hemmer made a point of saying that the head of Google, Eric Schmidt, "was an informal advisor for President Obama." And if that still wasn't enough, another Fox Fact appeared, saying, "President Obama's 'Yes, we can' slogan was derived from the United Farmworkers' slogan, 'Si, se puede.'"
"Now, the theorists would say there's a definite connection here. You buying it?" Hemmer "asked."
No, Drucker wasn't. But it didn't matter. Because Fox made sure the suggestion was made - repeatedly - regardless of anything the guest said or did not say.
And here's a perfect example of how Fox manipulates its segments to get a desired outcome. Even though the show, America's Newsroom airs during what Fox insists is it's "objective news" time slot.
““Twitchy”?
Is that what Malkin calls her blog? It suits her.
{Though it would be even more apt if she either replaced the “Tw” with a “B”, or the “chy” with an “s”.}"
You could think of it this way—It’s T witchy (T for “teabagging”). I think it’s suitable.
But, your point was understood.
They should go with Baidu."
ROFL — I believe it was back in February that China passed us as being the world’s #1 trader; after a while, the wingnuts may not have a choice . . .
Ms. Maglalang’s Tweet/Twit feed got a mention at Buzzfeed (http://www.buzzfeed.com/louispeitzman/people-who-think-google-is-honoring-hugo-chavez)
As someone in the comments section there said, I dunno which is sadder: 1) that these wingnuts can’t get their facts straight at the homepage of a search engine, or 2) they’re apparently unaware that — as is the case with all Google doodles — all one has to do is mouse over it, and a pop-up will appear explaining who it is . . .

And, I love how the idiots in the comments section say they’ve been “inspired” to try Bing — apparently unaware Bing uses the same content, and comes up with the same search results, as Google . . .

@ Antoinette: “Your Latino outreach is going nowhere as long as the GOP associates itself with this channel.”
Hell — it wasn’t going anywhere, anyway . . . not since Rep. Don Young {R-AK} publicly referred to immigrants as “wetbacks”:
